Offical free dining watch 2008

I thought that while you had to pay rack rate for the room, that there was still a small AAA discount on the tickets/package portion that you could still keep when booking through AAA.
But perhaps that's not what people are refering to here. :confused3 Just my 2 cents!

It's my understanding that when you book a package with AAA you are only getting a disount on the room anways. I was told the only way to get discount tickets is to only buy tickets from AAA, and I'm not even sure if that is still true. But I am very sure with a package the discount is only off the room. I have a book that says that as well.

Some people are swearing that they did. I am just trying to get information to compare it to prices I have been tracking since free dining began so that I can decide whether to go through my regular TA or through AAA once the free dining becomes available.
There is no reason to "track" anything. Any AAA discount will be on the room and you would have to pay the regular price for the park passes. The AAA discount for the free dining dates is %15 for Deluxe and DVC villas and 20% for value and moderate resorts.

I wake up every morning thinking hopefully this will be the day that Free Dining information will be released. I just guess it is wishful thinking but we are getting closer and closer to some kind of discount for that time frame.

disney is now offering discount room for april 20 something to may twenty something. Its about 30% off except for deluxe.
Did they run this promotion last year?

According to Mousesavers, some type of GP discount for these dates was first made available on 3/8/2007.

***EDIT*** Actually, the GP package discounts for a similar time frame was offered first in Jan. The package & room only discounts that seem to match the current offer was made available on 3/8.

Ok, I may sound REALLY dumb here, but wouldn't it be possible with the American Economy the way it is, it would actually BENEFIT them to do the deal?:confused3

Just a thought.....but I've also figured If ya can't afford a vacation, you wouldn't be going to disney in the first place, but just a thought, since I see SO many Disney Pro's who are awesome at the deal hunting, the thought of giving breaks to those who could use it would help boost their sales AND their reputation.

Again, I may sound really rediculous....this newbie walking in on such a conversation.:rotfl:

Exactly!!! Especially with the stimulus checks soon to be in the mail, even if you don't "pay" for the dining, Disney still has you constantly opening your wallets while you're there! It's a win-win situation for them!

THIS IS ME!!!!!!!! I wake up and check every morning then I check before I go to bed! I am SOOOOOOOOOOO hoping for Free Dining, otherwise we will not go!:sad1: You have to admit though, the game of watching, waiting, guessing is kinda fun!;)

Well shoot.... I check these boards at least 10 times a day!!!! And thats when I work... don't know how many times when I am off!!

Having done Free Dining twice I have this one thought about this year. It would cost me at least $20 for each TS 'free' meal to cover the tip and I am just not sure that is for me.

If you already plan on eating at a TS any old way and would buy the Dining Package it is though.

Our last trip we just did CS and paid OP and it was really quite relaxing not to be tied down to being at a restaurant at a certain time.

I hope that those of you who want it get it though. Different strokes etc. :)

:rotfl2: That was funny and SO true. It's our FIRST vacation since we've been married. We're in the foster to adopt program which will take 11 weeks to get through and with the homestudy we're looking at having little ones no later than November.

My husband thought we should take one more "Dream Vacation" alone together for the last time. We chose Disney. We had sticker shock:lmao: But KNOW it's worth the money.

We're hoping to be able to bring our children to Disney with us NEXT year, but it will depend on the status of their custody issues. We DO hope we can brighten the lives of our dear children whoever they will be. But your graphic made me laugh:flower3:

Congratulations! You and your DH are special people.:flower3: You are about the change the destiny of a few children. I tell my DS's that one the angels placed in my tummy and the other the angels placed in my arms. . Enjoy your dream vacation (hopefully with free dining) and the next one with the children (hopefully MORE free dining!!!)

Um if that's the case why not get the free dining and use it for 2 CS insted of a TS and CS... you still save money because its FREE.

Not getting it doesn't make that a better move.

This option isn't really an option. Disney did let it occur once during Free Dining, but it's not guranteed. So you might not get it this year.

Thank You for your sweet comment:hug: We have prayed for a child for over 7 years. Turns out, we decided Foster to Adopt was the way for us. Of course, our home will be a safe haven for some children, while their parents do what they need to in order to have their children back.

It does pain me to think that one mothers loss will be my great blessing, and that my children will have to go through SO much before they come to my arms, BUT, I'm grateful and extremely prayerful daily over the lives we don't yet know.

I appreciate your dear sweet comment. I too look forward to those nice FDDP's

I did not go during 05, so I can't speak to that, but in 06 and 07, this option was available to us.

Also, when my son was ill during our December trip to Pop, we had to cancel a lot of TS meals. I asked the CM at the foodcourt if we were able to use TS for CS and was told absolutely. I did not get the impression that was only for our circumstances, she knew exactly how to ring it up, what was included in the meal (different for adult and child), and even let me use some of the credits to buy lunch for the family behind me.

The difference was that during free dining , when we did this, we were also given a voucher for 2 snacks or a pin and lanyard or a poster. In December, it was just that we used the TS credit instead of CS.

like I said though rather than paying OOP you could still use a FREE TS as a CS. While that's not good value if you paid for the DDP its still a good value if its free.

IF they let you. They don't have to so what you may have is just a wasted TS meals.... that you can't use for CS meals.

This is not an offically approved method in the Free Dining brochure....

now I will say it could've changed but I know its been that way the last 2 years..

Regardless he could get the free dining and get 1 free CS a day and a free snack. That's still better than paying OOP.
