One of the things that I enjoy about AI is the fact that almost none of the contestants fit the "perfect body" image that the media loves to flaunt.

These are REAL people. Whether they're skinny like Tamyra or a little chunky like Diana, or downright fat like Ruben, they are the real deal.

As for Kelly, let's all be thankful she didn't cave in to the pressure and develop an eating disorder in an effort to be thinner.

Oh, and my Mom thinks Simon looks like Reggie from the Archie comics. So there!

AGREED!!!!
I just don't understand why it's ok to say "Tamyra needs a sandwich" but not ok say "Diana should lose some weight".

I have it, listened to it this morning on the way to work even. It's pretty good. I like it. I always loved her voice. She has a duet with Clay on it (funny though, I never bought his or Ruben's CD, but I did buy hers).

Yep, she's really massive isn't she? And even if she was, what difference does it make anyway? If she's a good performer, she's a good performer.

If I were Paula, I would not have repeated the Fred Flintstone thing. I am sure that will hurt Fantasia's feelings if she hears that. But Simon was the same person who told Amy she looked like Jay Leno. He is very cruel sometimes.

Amen to that! I have to add that I felt his version of Wonderful World (idk if that i s the right title, but you know which song I mean) was the best I'd ever heard -- WAY better than the Australian idol's and even better than the original (Louis Armstrong?)

I feel that way because George's singing (and the instrumentation) did not get in the way of the song, but rather made you really appreciate what a great song it is. When I heard George sing it, the lyrics really moved me, unlike when I hear some other versions that are just kind of irritating. Speaking of wallets, I would buy George's version of that song in a second. Some people thought his version was "boring," but I could not disagree more.

I also feel that La Toya is a class act who could do anything including Broadway, but whether I would buy her work would depend on what style of singing she ends up recording. I think losing was the best thing that happened to her, as now she has a chance to sign with someone who can develop her in a way that Idol wouldn't. She could be a superstar, but it all depends.
