Offered a free cruise for buying into DVC

We just joined and bought our first points. We can get a cruise or developer points for joining. Has anyone taken the free cruise? What kind of room do you get? I'm afraid they'll stick us in a closet.

There aren't really any closet type rooms on Disney Cruise Line. Category 10 through 5 are the same size rooms. Category 12, 11, and 10 are inside staterooms, category 8 and 9 have portholes, and category 7,6, and 5 have verandahs. I believe I have read on here they are category 9 with this offer.

Even the smallest room on a Disney cruise ship is larger than any room we've had on Princess except for a suite. Do the cruise!

The category they are giving away is a 9. This is a great category and has a large Porthole window. I think you are able to pay for an upgrade to a verandah cabin. If you haven't done the cruise you should go with that choice!! Just be sure to look at the dates of the cruise. There are not doing this during spring and summer so you may not be able to take the cruise during the times they are offering.

I would take the cruise! We bought our DVC on a disney cruise, but weren't given the option of developer points or a free cruise. I would have took the cruise instead of developer points in a millisecond even if the room was on the bottom deck.

I am new to disboards and am looking to purchase into BLT and am trying to decide what is the best amt of pts to purchase.

Interesting. I am interested in finding out how much of an add-on and how long of a cruise. We are a family of 5 and wouldn't fit in a Cat 9.

We opted for the 3 night cruise with our 100pt VGC add on. We already have our summer trips planned and would be tough to squeeze in another one before Oct 3, so the cruise option through 2010 sold it for us.
The contract addendum states you can add another person or upgrade for a fee, and to contact MS for details. Once you close on the contract, you receive a voucher that is then used to reserve the cruise.

Add On:
100 pts - 3 night cruise
125 pts - 4 night cruise
200 pts - 7 night cruise

New Member:
160 pts - 3 night cruise
200 pts - 4 night cruise
270 pts - 7 night cruise

I think this incentive will be around for awhile, it seems to be getting a pretty good response...

How did you get a 7 Night cruise? I bought a 100 pt add on and only got offered a 3 night cruise.
