October Hours frustration

Being concerned about it is different than being irritated about it. I'm confident they will extend hours, but considering I'm trying to plan a very expensive trip without complete information, it is frustrating, irritating, and downright unnecessary for Disney to be so apathetic about providing their customers the information they need.
Yep!!! especially since they FORCE you into all this detailed planning with Fast Pass+ and all!! I'm glad I'm not a cast member having my work schedule constantly changing!!!! OMG! I couldn't imagine telling the people that work for me that their schedules changed AGAIN!!! :crazy2:

There aren't Halloween parties on Saturdays. MK will be open fairly late, but be prepared for HUGE crowds.

Any more huge than usual? I've done all the parties and parks before - is there something special about the 8th?

I can't recall a time where Disney went backwards once hours had been announced. So if they've posted 7 pm close at AK, it's a given you'll get at least that. Same thing with the MK -- if they've put up a closing time, I think you can safely say that the park will be open until at least that time. It very well may go later, but not earlier.

I'm also frustrated by the things we still don't know for October, but I also think it's been a general trend since I started planning our trip. I remember seeing threads pop up since at least April of people who are at their 60 or 30 day FP+ window and WDW still hadn't updated their hours. I'm confident the Star Wars fireworks will be happening - they just built a whole new launch site and they need night things operating with all the early party closes at MK...it is frustrating that they haven't released the time yet though! It's made is just plan two half days at HS and plan Fantasmic for one night and Star Wars for the second night - not everyone can do that though, I understand! Our last trip was 3 days, so if that was the case this year we would be out of luck! I'm also keeping my fingers crossed for ROL or at least a nighttime ride on Everst, but after not having the show ready and having to cancel previews, etc...it may be last minute before its announced..

Gee thanks everyone. I just realized we're at 61 days and I haven't even started my touring plan yet. Been preoccupied with personal stuff. Guess I will be pulling an all nighter. If the proper hours are not posted that's really going to throw a monkey wrench in making fast passes.

CM are used to schedule changes. When you are a CM and you say you can work a specific day that means you are available 24 hours of that day. Of course Disney doesn't make them work 24 hours but they can be asked to extend hours for a particular day.

Hey, at least you realized it on day 61 and not 59 :)

We're there from the 23-28 of October. Hoping that either Wed or Thurs that week has later HS hours. We are hopping and with the Halloween party many of the nights we're there, we need something to do at night besides the one night we're going to the party. Seriously, it's Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. We're going on Tuesday. Other than going to Epcot every night, there's nothing to do past 7pm. Seem pretty outrageous. Maybe they're trying to funnel guests to the Halloween Party, but it's really unfair considering it's an expensive hard ticket and they shouldn't expect people to go more than one night while they're visiting the parks.
Those are our dates too! We have our first Disney cruise the 28th-31st. Planning has definitely been extra frustrating this trip. And we were counting on the Wed night EMH hours at MK to see the MSEP & Wishes, and now the parade will be gone :(. And we had hoped to see Fantasmic (never seen it) AND the SW fireworks, but now you have to pick one or the other.

I'm with all of you. We are there 10/28-11/8. I basically am not planning anything in the evenings outside of Halloween and Christmas parties and actual Halloween. Because I feel like I need to keep stuff open for whenever Star Wars fireworks are scheduled too. We make FPs a week from today.

You really think they will reduce AK hours back to 5pm? As of now they have AK closing at 7pm in October
I don't think they will roll it back to 5pm. they semi recently (a month ago, maybe 5-6 weeks) extended hours in December from 5pm to 6pm and also opened up restaurant bookings during that time. I doubt they will roll them back now.

I hope they extend AK hours, people are having trouble getting SDMT FP at 60 days. It's going to be crazy.

FWIW, we were there last year in the last week of October and DHS closed at 7pm every night. I don't ever remember being there in the Fall and DHS having a later than 7pm close, unless it was PM EMH.

Ugh, looked at Oct hours and for the third year in a row our pre park opening crystal palace breakfast has become a park opening breakfast! This happens to us every year!

Joining in. Will be there 23-28 and I can't figure out how to fit Star Wars fireworks in, but if they are happening, I really want to see them. I have less hopes for an AK night show, but could cancel the wishes dessert cruise we have booked - not feeling that excited for it - and do AK on that night. I so wish it was possible to do Fantasmic AND view the fireworks in the same night. But I'm guessing it's not.

It's actually possibly to do both but you want to get out of fantamic like your on a mission and possibily even leave it early depending on what chances you want for a great seat.

I think they just reduced a lot of days in February recently, after the hours were first published. I don't think any schedule is a given anymore, unfortunately.
