OCTOBER 30th & NOVEMBER 3rd Cruises (FE and Meets)

I was on the Disney Magic last Halloween and some of the Disers put together a similar trick or treat event for the kids. It was a lot of work for them though. I guess it would come down to having someone willing to organize the event (and figuring out how to buy & transport the candy - or if each participating cabin would bring their own type of candy).

I don't think we are dressing up on the ship this year. Last year the costume finalists were up on the step in from of Lumiere's in the atrium (on the Magic). Because my mom is in a wheelchair there was no way she could have been a finalist (because of the step and lack of ramp). My rule is if I'm with my mom, and she can't participate in something she'd like to (because of the wheelchair), then I don't either.

Last year we had planned to go to the parks for 1 or two days before the cruise but then I changed my mind since I was concerned about the heat and getting a sunburn and just generally being too tired to enjoy the first day or so of the cruise. We're driving down and staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Cocoa Beach (at least that's what I have booked right now!). We'll just have dinner somewhere in the area and get a good night's sleep before boarding the ship.

I'm still undecided about whether we should show up at the port super early (like 10:30am) or late (like 1:00pm)? Anyone else thinking about that yet?

I plan on bringing a costume even tho I am sure I will not be entering a contest, because it will just be fun to wonder the ship in costume, really feels in the Disney mood then (just like pirate night when in gear). So, yes, I will have to bring two costumes, one pirate and one Halloween.

Hadn't thought about bringing candy for a DIS'er ToT, but I could be persuaded to bring a big bag with us on the plane (assuming, TSA doesn't claim it first )

We will be spending the pre-cruise night an AKL (like we do every cruise), it may not be the park but, the next best thing..

Howdy everyone,

Just a quick note to say we will be gone for several days, maybe 10 or so camping so I wont be around for awhile. If we get any new people while I'm gone please tell them about the CM and FE list. I know I wont be going back over 10 or 12 days worth of posts. I will be too tired.

I just need a few fresh food items and I am all ready to go!! I looked on line for the weather up in the mountains where we are going and it said 80 degrees:woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: Its raining here!

I am so ready for some sunshine.

Have a good couple weeks and I will post when we get back,

Kathy

Hope you have a *Fantastic* time :thumbsup2

Mmmmm, candy. I mean, err, AKL is a great hotel - love it. I know when the offers for October come out, it will be difficult to resist booking the night before at one of the WDW deluxe resorts (if the price is right).

I'm just glad she never really like going swimming because I practically lived in the pool on our last DCL cruise.
...........

What a sweet daughter you are!!

Sounds like they ran to costume judging the same on your cruise as ours. Visibility was terrible and clostrophobia was the word of ths day. Too many people too close together. In the theater would be better so people only watching could sit in the front and those being judged could sit in the back and not block anyone's view as they stand to go up on stage. Viewer applause would choose the winners.

One of our friends was a winner but he had a Tinkerbelle costume  We would have preferred several others to win.

Each stateroom participating in DIS TorT brought their own candy to give out.

What about swimming with your Mom?? :confused3

My mom is in a wheelchair and can not walk (she can transfer in and out of the chair and take a step or two with some assistance); it is impossible for her to use the DCL pools.

I love floating in pools and spent a lot of time in the water last cruise. I didn't have to feel guilty that she "couldn't" because even if she could, she wouldn't (she hates getting her face wet and was never big on swimming). She spent lots of time by the pool on our last cruise with me though.

So is anyone here planning on writing a trip report for this cuise?

If you have a pre trip report let us know.
We can follow your report when we get back.

I'm not good at writing but love to read others. :goodvibes

I was messing with a picture of the DREAM so I could make a sign for our cruise.

If anyone wants to use this, go right ahead.

Great picture. Hate to be "that person" but you have the date listed as "2001" instead of "2011". :rolleyes1

LOL going to have to join you. :lmao:

It is also Oct 30th - Nov 3rd 2011

:lmao: I would rather have you find the error now :rotfl:
than see it on the ship!! :thumbsup2

Our thread says October 31 so I copied that rather than check.
No good excuse for the 2001.

I will fix it, repost it and reprint mine

OK, how is this one? :scratchin

:yay: I am so glad I have a committee!! ::yes::

Oh my goodness I didn't even realize I did that and I pointed it out in yours. :lmao:

I fixed it! :upsidedow

I had no idea who started the thread or that the title was not right. I also did not know that the title could be changed. I have been on these boards for nearly 10 years and never knew that you can send little messages via the profile page either. Always something new to learn. Sometimes I think it's fun but often not--I am highly resistant to change :rotfl:

If anyone has an idea for a door magnet for our cruise and wants me to give it a go also, let me know. I prefer not having names on mine but could add names if people want. (For a name magnet I took one of the cards DCL sent with Mickey and Goofy on deck 10 welcoming us aboard and put craft magnets in the corners. I use it each cruise as part of the door decorations.)

Hi everyone!

On our last cruise, I made name tags for everyone so we could easily identify other DISers on our cruise. I am happy to do this again - I stink at making logos so I might need some help there!

Also, I had thought about putting the FE list on a spreadsheet that everyone could access from google docs. I know Kathy has put together an assume word document that she has mailed out, but wasn't sure if the excel spreadsheet idea would be helpful?

:)

We will take the shuttle from CI & S at 930am again...we love arriving early to enjoy the terminal. We are platinum so we also love that boarding card #1. If we didn't have the platinum to board 1st, we would probably still show up 930am to try to get an early number to board. Especially on this short cruise, we want to be on that ship as long as we can. I will say if you don't want to wait, 1pm is a perfect time to arrive. We have friends that always do that and they walk right on after checking in. We like to watch the old Disney cartoons, check DD in to the club, get a few pictuires with characters, and head to lunch as soon as we can walk on the ship.

This will be my first cruise as a Platinum Member. What time do they typically let you board. My family is not Platinum will they allow them to board with me?

Hi everyone,
I am moved in to my new place. I love it so far. For the fe cant wait for it too. one long list is good too. Cant wait to meet everyone. Hope everyone is having a great week.

I like the spreadsheet idea because we could sort by room number : ).

I also like the idea of name tags I am not creative but I think we should have Halloween as a part of the logo.

We usually get to the port early because we get so excited.
