Thank you, this won't take a minute.

I spoke with Kevin about the Yahoo site for this cruise group and he has given the okaley-dokaley for us to open the site to our fellow Konkers.

If we need help with something he will still be available to us, but he has some other things on his plate right now.

I'd like to suggest that we all take a few days to move around the site and get familiar with the ins and out (it's pretty easy) and then we can begin sending out invites to anyone here who would like to join.

As a refresher - this is a password secured website that will allow all of us to share information about ourselves and the cruise. It's not meant to replace Cass's wonderful site or the DIS, but simply provide a secure forum for discussion, planning, and more detailed personal information. It's purely for our eyes only.

We had one for our 2005 cruise and it worked really well for us.

This might also be a good time to start thinking about whether or not we'd like to play DIStag on this cruise.

Nancy? Why don't you do the honors about explaining tag? I'm supposed to be working right now... ;)

Thanks for your help and your patience everyone!

Brenda :goodvibes

PS. Can I just say that Naproxen is a godsend? :thumbsup2

For crying out loud. I go to bed early and have meetings all morning and by the time I get to this thread there's a page and a half to read through.

If you're looking for alternatives to Lobster for Thursday night, there is Mickey Mac & Cheese, Minnie Mini Cheeseburgers, Cheese Pizza and Chicken Strips with BBQ sauce. There are also chef's selections of Surf and Turf (4 oz sirloin with shrimp) and Breaded Vegetable Cutlet with Tomato Sauce. Granted you will be ordering off of the children's menu, but you have options. :rotfl2: :lmao:

Seriously, they do have 3 other options that night: Veal, Venison (deer) and Chicken/Pasta. These are in addition to the "lighter fare" choices of Cornish Game Hen and Sirloin. There is always a steak, fish, and chicken type option on the menu along with vegitarian for those who don't like the 5 main choices.

A couple of things...

1) Nancy is trying to be trouble maker by giving out someone else's cabin number for Jeff to paste the Borat picture on. She thought it was mine, but she got it wrong!! :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

2) She has given me a terrible, wonderful idea with her mischief...if we're going to play DIStag on this cruise I suggest we use that picture as our tag-magnet (unless someone thinks it might psychologically scar their children).

3) Heather is right - there are other menu options on Thursday night, but the specialty in all three restaurants is the lobster. I can tell you that the last two times we cruised I ordered something other than lobster for that evening's dinner (once at Lumiere's and once at Animators') and both times it was awful. Maybe I just had bad luck but I wonder sometimes if the kitchen doesn't pretty well slack off on lobster night. So that's why we decided on Palo for Thursday - Jay gets his lobster, plus everything else he can put away, and I get yummy food substitutes like shrimp and asparagus salad, pizza prosciuitto, risotto, etc...

4) They've loosened the dress code at Palo - we saw plenty of men there for dinner last October who were not wearing suits. I think as long as the gentleman in question is wearing a nice pair of pants and a nice shirt he should be OK. This last time Jason and I looked somewhat out of place because he was wearing a tux and I was wearing a long dress, but we didn't mind the gawking and finger pointing much after we'd downed a bottle of wine. ;)

I gotta go ---- 30 miles of traffic is calling my name. Have a good one!!

Brenda :goodvibes

Oh I caught on right away that Nancy didn't give HER room number. And I remember yours from Cass' site because it was the one we had on our first cruise. This will be on the door between you two. The problem being that if you two come up at the same time, see it on that door and start laughing hesterically at it, they'll think you put it up there. Maybe I'll just have to upgrade to the room to keep you two in line.

If we use this picture as our tag device, can we make it life size? :rotfl2: :scared1:

If I remember correctly from last week, you could go to Palo with just a tie or just a jacket. It may have been even a collared shirt but not a polo. (ha, ha - no polo in Palo) I crack myself up. I remember our first time I think it was jacket and tie.

To the Wisconsin friends: I've never been to Wisconsin, but I feel like I have because my sister's husband is from Superior, and he often tells us stories about his childhood. My sister tells me that y'all drive your car on a frozen lake at times! Wow, that sounds like fun...scary fun!

Yeah, they do stupid stuff up here. In another couple of months we'll have the reports of the cars going through the ice. I live in what is considered "lake country" here in the Milwaukee area. We see people on the lakes all the time when we drive around. You couldn't pay me to be in a car on a lake around here even if the ice is 2 feet thick.

If you wanna go lifesize we should make it a "flat Borat" challenge - take the Borat picture with you and snap a picture of him.

Could you imagine the look on the face of a DCL photographer if you showed up with a lifesize picture and included it in your formal night shot? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

That's just sick. :rotfl2:

A precautionary bump and a question...

Anyone planning on attending one of the MK's Princess / Pirate Parties? It looks like it might be kind of cute and I was just curious about it in case I decide to drag Jason to one while we're at WDW in May (if they offer it then).

I'd love to hear about it if anyone makes it to one.

Thanks! :goodvibes

A song comes to mind...

I'm so lonely
I'm so lonely
So lonely
So lonely and sadly alone...

:sad1: :sad1: :sad1:

Right about now my boss is saying, "Get to work!" ;)

OK Oh Master Hall Monitor..Here are the rules of DIStag (should we choose to play) stolen straight from the Molar Express:

All DIStag participants will purchase a small gift from their hometown to give to all taggers. We will receive a spread sheet at our first DISmeet (time and place still to be determined) made up by your's truly. In addition to the spread sheet you will receive some sort of magnet. The list will look something like this:

JLDSMD Jeff Cabin 1234
cntkg1 Nancy Cabin 6576
oybolshoi Brenda Cabin 6580
LindyLoo Linda Cabin 4321
etc.....

You will start with the person listed directly below your name. Deliver your "gift" and leave the magnet at the top of their cabin door. Should your "gift" be too large to fit in the 'fish mail holder', locate any Stateroom Host/ess and request they take your gift directly into the room. When someone leaves you a gift and the magnet, deliver your surprise and received magnet to the next person on your list-and so on. When you get to the last person 'participating' at the bottom of the page (LindyLoo in our example)...start at the top of the list (JLDSMD). Continue until you get to the person listed above YOUR name.

So if I've still managed to confuse you, this is the skinny of it all...

Jeff takes one of his gifts and his magnet. He tags Nancy's door with the magnet and puts his gift on the 'fish mail holder'. Now he waits until someone tags him. He will take that new magnet and a new gift and tag Brenda's door. He waits again until he gets tagged and then tags Linda's door and leaves behind a gift.

So this means if we have 20 DISers who want to play tag, we will each have to bring 20 little gifts.

We have all week to play and we'd probably cut it off on Thursday. Any leftover gifts at that point can just be left on fish mail holders without tagging with the magnets.

When we played this on our other cruise the gifts were anything from personalized pencils, bumper stickers, candy, yummy hometown recipes (Yorkshire pudding mmmmm), keychains, playing cards etc.... Most were packed in gift baggies and labeled with the name of the DISer who left it behind.

It really was tons of fun (for us anyway) and we only ran into one snag. One DISer's entire family got sick and he had to bail on us halfway through the game. We all just continued on anyway without the magnets.

Ok Obiewon...how was that??:)

You have done well, oh cake-eating one. :thumbsup2

I will only add that the gifts certainly do not need to be expensive - a lot of people left postcards from their cities or other little souviniers from their city / state which was cool, especially if they were from someplace you'd never been.

There were a few people that I did a little more for - I had a baseball rivalry going with one cruiser (Cubs / Cardinals...doesn't get much uglier than that) and he left us a Cubs banner and I tagged him with a big ol' Cardinals button, a bobble-head Cardinals pin, and some "billy-bob" teeth.

Here's an "after-tag" picture of Paul and me (no hard feelings!):
313.jpg

Afterwards I bought us both some nectar of the gods!! :thumbsup2

It really was a lot of fun to see how different DISers exercised their creativity in leaving gifts for others.

:thanks: Thanks so much and count us in! This sounds like fun...I just have to figure out what region I will represent....We live in Monterey, will live in Virginia at the time of the cruise, but we are from the fun state of Louisiana! Wouldn't it be great if the cruise was over Mardi Gras?!!:joker: :jester: :drinking1

Not that I really get a say in it, but I vote Louisiana!! Have only been there a handful of times but I love it - especially New Orleans. So much history and culture...such great food and music...one of the few truly unique cities in this country. :thumbsup2

Count us in:banana:

I dont get why you have a magnet though:confused3 If you get a prezzie then you know it'll be off a disser. Is there usually a $ budget per general gift? Gonna have to start thinking of something small to pack if I need about 20:eek: Geez, something else to add to the list:rotfl:

Lindy - if you're handing your car in where are you putting all your extra luggage? - we're leaving at least one case and holdall in the boot of the car. I think we'll take on 2 cases, 1 holdall and 1 rolling cooler on board. The rest stays in the boot (truck:goodvibes )

I too have given a lot of thought as to how AM going to get the intyre contents of 12 wardrobes (plus shoes) across the pond along with Tea bags, womens war paint, scooby doo vans and Kendal mint cake (don't ask),I did toy with the idea of shipping but then thought about how we'd feel if we turned on the BBC news only to see some "Pikeys" running up the beach wearing are smalls.....:rolleyes1

"So much history and culture...such great food and music"

Brenda, you could come and stay here as were only 30 miles from York
(HISTORY),10miles from Leeds (GREAT FOOD),Then move down south and stay with Karen or Lindy loo for the Music and Culture both of which i know nothing about as the kids will tell you......:rotfl2:

him lindy,

i got a reply from dollar and they told me they dont have an office at the port
so its us rentacar for us, only £50 deposit and rest 8weeks before holiday.

KENDAL MINT CAKE UUUMMMMMM!!i havent had that for years we used to get it in dent in the yorkshire dales when we stopped at the train station with school, the choc covered stuff is best.

Speaking of TV, to the UK friends: Do you still get re-runs of "The Young Ones?" My husband and I used to watch them in high school in the 80's, and we bought them on e-bay a couple of years ago. When we are feeling a little down, we watch them. My teenager thinks we are nuts!:confused3

Paige - greetings from the UK. They don't re-run The Young Ones very often. My husband was a great fan, but I don't really find them funny. My sense of humour I think.

Karen - the Magnet is the tag which sticks to your cabin door, which you sign and then 'tag' the next door, oh and leave your prezzie, of course.

Count us in as well - it was great fun in September. We had fish extenders for prezzies. Some kind Disser made them as a gift for us all. They are material pockets that hang from the fish door sign outside your stateroom.

Heather

We use to love the Young Ones ! :cool1:

Karen, we have arranged with the Disney hotel to hold our spare luggage, as we are coming back to the hotel the Sat night before we fly home on the Sunday. This was a tip we got from our last cruisers:)

Medical man we are waiting to hear from Budget, i emailed yesterday for a quote.

Brenda and Nancy, count us in, but im worried about space in the cases, if too many people take part. We are limited for space as it is.

Are you all doing door signs? We will do something,as Elouise loved having her door done up !It made it easy to find, especailly after a few wines ;)

Kendal mint cake has bad memeories for me............... at a work we had an out doors event, where we had to bring a kendal mint cake, compass etc. so that should have given me a big hint we were off on the hills.
Anyway split into teams we had to go from the luxury hotel, out in the cold hills for 18 hours!!!! Well, we did it for 3 hours and then stayed in a Little Chef Cafe off the motor way for about 5 hours ( till we got thrown out) we then hitched a ride in a lorry to the end point. We even came 2nd out of 8 teams ! all we had to eat was Kendal mint cake !
