:rotfl2: Have you been bothered by mosquitoes in the USA?...Am told their are 3 full battalions waiting for me in the dominican republic, they'll all need to be down the gym when i come back home....

Wish us luck for tonight folks.... Ellis is enroling in Beavers tonight. He goes "all official" with his little uniform and has his investiture this evening....He's still unsure if he actually wants to join:confused3 - whats the betting I hand over a big wad of cash for his uniform and subs etc for him to say he's changed his mind afterwards:rolleyes2

He's a bit worried he'll forget his words - I'll be there whispering loudly and sending him loads of pixiedust: and :love2:

No, not in the states, but those horrid red ants seem to love me whenever I sit on a wall they seem to choose my a** to chew:rolleyes:

In Turkey I was eaten alive by mosquitos and of course it had to be me that reacted badly to them - one was the size of a tennis ball on my leg, rock hard and lasted about a monht after we returned:sad2: - not a good look when you're wearing shorts - looked like I was growing another limb:rotfl2:

Mosquitos are terrible over here - mostly in the evenings during late Spring...Summer...early Fall. It depends on where you live - the further South the worse the problem (usually) but it also depends on how cold the winter is. If it doesn't stay cold long enough in the Midwest or North it won't kill off the bloodsucking little wankers and then it's nearly as bad as being in the South.

And then there's that pesky West Nile Virus that some of them are carrying now...

"And then there's that pesky West Nile Virus that some of them are carrying now..."

Oh great,i have a love hate relationship with them,i hate them and they love me,they bit lumps out of me and it's now got so bad i wont travel to places where i KNOW their at....what is this virus their carrying and is it something we should worry about (i know,i know something else:sad2: )

I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you are very old or very sick to begin with. It's a seasonal problem over here, mainly popping up in the summer carrying over to fall.

The best way to avoid potential problems is to just use Mosquito repellant - I use OFF (when I remember). Mosquitos love me and when they bite I end up with huge welts that last for a couple of weeks.

For all that it's active over here, I've never known anyone who's had a run in with this virus. And let me tell you, living in this stinky river-bogged section of the midwest...we have lots and lots of 'skeeters.

Just use the mosquito repellant and you should be fine - no shots are available for this one.

So for all you repeat cruisers, what was your favorite thing to eat or drink on your DCL cruise?

I can tell you exactly what Rick's is - it's a dead heat between Chicken Tenders and Soft Scoop Ice Cream. I've even known him to eat them at the same time. Yuk:lmao: :lmao:

Don't know what mine would be.

Heather - I have heard a lot about these chicken tenders - I'm gonna have to try them for myself ;)

Also, can you answer a question for me - the soft scoop - I presume its run by castmembers? - do they use the same scoop to dive into each different flavour? If so, do they have nut flavours? We might have to stick to Mickey bars if so.... can you get mickey bars from there too? If not, where do you get those from? - sorry! - several questions all rolled into one long one:rolleyes1

I don't know if I'm right, but I think the soft serve is also self serve - it comes out of a machine...just pull the handle and the stuff oozes right into your dish.

As for the Mickey Bars - I know if you ask in the dining room or room service you can get them.

On a completely different note - my cat is being a total punk right now. He just took some paper from my desk and ran off with it in his mouth. What am I supposed to do... "Oh, sorry GMAC...my cat ate my mortgage coupon." :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Brenda, I forgot...banks are closed today. Happy day off. Now you'll have the time to look for different excursions from ours. :lmao: Actually, I thought I only stole your Key West plans. I had no idea that you and Jason are interested in hanging with the dolphins in Grand Cayman. :confused3

And yes, you have it right...we both owe each other drinks but I already forgot why.

I do know one person who died of West Nile. He was my nephews principal at school. He was only 45 and died last year. (My fellow Wisconsinites should be able to verify this...Wauwatosa West High School Principal????) I don't think any of the UK'ers need to worry though. I've never seen a mosquito in Florida and definitely not on our cruise.

Update on the snow removal ... I made it just in the nick of time. Chuck was already done and had my car warming up.

Yes, it's from a machine, so think Ellis will be OK. Think Mickey Bars are only available in the dining rooms and room service.

Agent NIK... your laughing guy is pounding on the head of your confused guy...he must have a concussion by now. :rotfl2:

When you mentioned the Hard Rock I thought that was what you and Chuck were going to do in Grand Cayman and that's why I said you were "stealing" our itinerary. We don't plan on swimming with the dolphins - I'd prefer to waterski with the rum cakes.

I am really annoyed right now... scheduled an appointment two weeks ago with a heating / cooling company to come out and look at our furnace today (it's been making all sorts of interesting noises lately). They were supposed to show up between 8AM - 12PM... long story short no one is coming to look at my furnace today. Sheeesh! Worse than the cable company...I got up early on my day off from work for nothing. I couldn't even leave to go get some cafe mocha in case they showed up while I was gone and now it's too late in the day for a tasty caffeine jolt.

I know...my life is so terrible. ;)

I did manage to convince them to come over on Saturday - they didn't want to because they don't like working weekends but I told them (and this is the truth) that no one will be available here during the daytime for another month.

You guys want to place bets on whether or not anyone makes it here on Saturday? Win fabulous prizes in round 2 of: Where's the Furnace Guy?

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Brenda, We were planning on doing both if possible in Grand Cayman. The dolphins and HRC. And now that you mention it, I would rather spend some time with the rum cakes myself. Bought a small one last time and had
plans to give it to my mom and dad but it never made it over to their house.
I'd like to lie and say that I shared it with others but no....not me!! I ate the whole thing by myself. Really, the small cake is only about two servings anyway. Well, two of MY servings!!:lmao:

And sorry, count me out on that bet. Sounds like a "sucker bet" to me! You lose they win. They'll probably charge you more because they had to come out on a weekend. Does my negative attitude make me ineligible for the prizes?

Rum cakes and Kahlua coladas it is... and then we'll race you back to the Rainforest room!

Those Tortuga cakes are the bomb! We're going to buy a couple in Key West to ship to people as gifts and then buy some for ourselves in Grand Cayman.

I heard that they won't ship the cakes from there and that's why we're going to do it that way.

Can anyone confirm or deny that?

Just finished a shoulder / bicep / tricep workout with Jason...now I have spaghetti arms! :lmao:

Fave foods...

Chicken strips...with Ken's dipping sauce of course!!
Amaretto Cheesecake in PC...to die for!
Beef tenderloin on Pirate Night!
hot dogs...burgers...french fries....
The banana bread at dinner (can't remember which night?)

Nancy,
I didn't think there were dolphins on the GC stop???:scratchin

Oh oh, must be getting my Ports mixed up. Anyway, Rum Cakes and Kahlua Coladas sound better to me than watching dolphins from a distance. I think Chuck will trade in his visit with Flipper for a couple hours in the Rainforest.:yay:

Now this also makes Brenda correct in saying that I "stole" her itineraries. Sorry B!! :sad2: You were right!! :flower3:

Hi everyone! Well, we've have freakishly warm weather around here. Talking about the cold front coming thru tomorrow, but luckily no mention of ice or snow in our forecast. Thank goodness!

Just watched two evenings of 24. Anyone else a fan? I've been a faithful watcher since season 1. Get so hooked on the adrenaline rush!

Our favorite food on the cruise: a definite favorite is the Chocolate Souffle from Palo. Yummy! Gonna be ordering that a few times that's for sure! The chicken strips are good too. I seem to remember enjoying a parmesan crusted veal entree. The last time we were on a cruise with DCL was Oct 2003, so it's hard to remember everything!

Still no AirTran or Southwest air for the Oct timeframe yet. So, no air scheduled here yet.

We are staying 2 nights prior, and 1 night post cruise at the Polynesian. We just adore the Poly. Figured for such a short stay, it'll be nice and convenient to stay on the monorail.

I'm so proud (and jealous) of all of you exercisers! Keep up the good work!
