Me too Lindy because as a favor to an old mate i promised him I'd show his son what it takes to do the "hills"...Me and my big gob eh.....;-))

Im back and still alive.... just !

Off to my oldest friends house for a girls night out. She lives in Oxford, so we are off for a meal in town and then onto a club. There is a great comedy club in Oxford, where we go sometimes. Its fun to cath up, just the two of us. We can gossip.... and drink for England !:lmao:

Have a great weekend everyone.

As promised, here is my post for the day.

AFEG (:lmao: ) My dad always talked about the tree with money growing on it. I thought he was kidding!! :confused3 Now I'll have to tell him that they actually have those in the UK. P.S...please send samples!!;)

Linda, I'm so impressed with your dedication to exercise. I play the role of the perfect Weight Watchers Poster Child from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm. I ride my bike every morning, eat well and count my points all day long. But when I walk in the door at night it's a party every night. I begin with my healthy dinner. Ahhh, if it only ended there. Then DD comes home and makes her DBF dinner and of course I have to taste test. Then Chuck comes home and there's another taste test. Now understand, these "taste tests" sometimes end up being another entire meal. Now you may suggest that I talk my uber hyper dog for a walk. Well I live in the boondocks (the suburbs) and we have no sidewalks, no street lights and most people around here don't even have driveway lanterns on. We also have a big coyote problem in our neighborhood and I don't want to run into one of those bad boys. If my dog caught site of one I think I would become "road kill" as he would drag me on the street for a block. Geeeez, here I moved from an unsafe neighborhood in Milwaukee to get away from certain members of the human race (and I use the term loosely) only to be afraid of the animal kingdom in my new neighborhood. I can't win can I? :confused3

Well, I'm off to my hot steaming bowl of all natural oatmeal with flaxseed and then off to work. Dinner tonight? Out with the girls for a calorie laden dinner and drinks! Aghhhhh, I'm doomed!!:rotfl2:

I just love the way are friends across the pond just slip into the conversation so casually things like "we also have a big coyote problem in our neighborhood"...:scared1: like it's no big deal....:rotfl2:

ps...The only thing that keeps us awake at night is Mr and Mrs Fox in the field at the back....oops sorry Mr and Mrs Fox in number 16 i didn't mean you two:rolleyes1

Just for you, AFEG...

my parents, who live in the southern county of St. Louis, also have coyotes wander through their neighborhood now and then - usually late at night.

I actually feel bad for the poor animals - us pesky humans keep encroaching on their habitat and they don't have anywhere else to go.

Anyone have trouble with bears? Now that would really be cause for :scared1:

I don't think we have anyone on the boards who lives far enough west in the US to worry about bears, but I've heard that the warm temperatures this "winter" have led to problems with them not hibernating like they usually do this time of year.

Speaking of winter...we're looking at another ice storm this weekend. The last one at the end of November resulted in about 500,000 people in the metropolitan area being without power for upwards of 7 days in verrrry cold weather. It's gonna be an interesting weekend...I'm going to have scamper to the grocery store on my lunch-hour and stock up on spam!

Good afternoon everyone... I was bumping early this morning cos yet again I was off to the gym... another aqua session for me and Neil did the gym, then we both swam for another 30 mins before hitting the jacuzzi.

We are out with the inlaws tomorrow at TGI's, so I already know I'm having loaded skins with soured cream then chicken fajitas and extra fries:rolleyes1

Dessert will (of course) be cheesecake and all washed down with large glasses of merlot.:rolleyes1

In other words I'm ruining my great healthy week with a mega food blowout.

Oh well, you have to live dont ya:confused3

Have a great weekend everybody and stay away from coyotes!

AFEG - If that tree starts sprouting $$ please can I have a cutting:flower3: :rotfl:

Thanks oybolshoi :rotfl2: ,i did read the trip report about the British chap who west into the mountains in the west who needed a number one and went outside the cabin at 3am heard some rustling in the bushes came running back in and told the wife he no longer needed the number 1 or a number two for that matter...:lmao:  :rotfl2:

ps...Anyone thinking about the repo cruise?....:rolleyes1

PPS..Karen You can have the first dear no problem....

Erm... is that the repo cruise that will cost $10,000 - erm... then the answer is no:sad2: :sad1: :sad2: :sad1:

No way hubby would part with that many $$ for a "boat trip"

Have you read the other thread about it - geez, people are really getting heated over it. I think the OP was only asking a question:confused3 , dont think he was expecting to get abuse in return. I think they all need to :grouphug: .

Chris - looking forward to my cuttingpixiedust: heres some pixie dust to make it grow quicker;)

It's FREAKING cold now. With the windchill, it is now -35 Celcius!!!!! Let me clear that up for you Farenheit folks....that's -32 F!!!!!!! BBRRRR :cold: :cold: :cold:[/QUOTE]

Just for you, AFEG...

Anyone have trouble with bears? Now that would really be cause for :scared1:

oybolshoi...
we actually have had several reports of small black bears in ne ohio. the joke in our family is that all the sightings are our dog. shes a black lab mix and she looks just like a baby bear.(100lbs.) whenever we take her for a walk almost always someone will say "that dog looks just like a bear !!"
robin gets a big kick out of it. that dog is her baby.

That's too funny! I hope you and your family (miniature bear included) stay safe and warm this weekend. We've had freezing rain at my house since 6PM and the power is threatening to go out - this would be bad on many levels.

So, here is one super-slippery bump for the Konked Kruisers - ice ice, baby! :lmao:

Good Morning Friends!!

Well it looks like Brenda may be sending her ice storm northeast a bit. We're expecting that same storm. We had a little of it last night. After my night out with the girls I could barely get into my car as it was frozen shut.:headache:

Yesterday was a most interesting day for us. It started out with a loud obnoxious beeping sound in the garage. Our Invisible Fence transmitter was beeping like crazy. (For you U.Kers an Invisible Fence is a device that is installed in the ground around your yard to keep your dog in. Not sure if you have those in the UK). I grabbed my trusty manual and checked out the trouble shooting section and read that the wires were compromised. Of course I blammed it on the stinkin' troop of squirrels we inherited this winter. How can those little suckers dig down that far? :confused3

We disconnected the alarm and I left for work. Chuck took a walk around the yard to see if he could find the break. Seems like the water department for the village we live in decided to bring in a front loader and dig up a trench in the ditch to help with our outdated sewer system. They dug right through the wires!! Funny thing was is that our yard sign that states to people that we have the "Invisible Fence" was only 5 feet away from where they dug up. You'd think they would know better. They also knocked down a section of a retaining wall we built 2 years ago. When I called the village people :rotfl: they said it happens often and they would come out and repair it today. I quickly called Chuck but he already bought the repair kit. Good thing it cost us only $15.00 compared to the $106.00 I was going to pay to have a service call done. :thumbsup2

Mike and Robin, you guys have a dog that resembles a bear in looks????...Well we have a dog that resembles a bear in his actions. It would have been catastrophic if he would have gotten out of the yard. The coyotes would be scared of him!!

Then last night when I got home I found that some neighbor kids set up my two lit up Christmas Deer in an obsene position. There they were all lit up doing the nasty!!:scared1: I never laughed so hard :rotfl2: . I'll bet those snooty neighbors will have something to talk about now!! :rolleyes1

So now that this post took up on entire page of our thread does this mean I can skip a day of posting??:surfweb:

Well, off to get the tax junk in order and then put two years of pictures away in albums. Oh yeah....and exercise, of course:confused: .

Later friends,
Nancy:hippie:

Woke up this moring to a little more than 1/2 inch of ice coating our trees and grass - pavement is slick but not too bad.

Phase 1 of our ice storm is now complete and I don't want to jinx us but we're still in decent shape at our house. Sad about the trees we planted the summer after we built the house, though - we've got 7 good sized pines along our back hill and they are starting to look bad. If we get more ice later today and tomorrow we're probably going to lose all of them. :sad1:

As for power outages in the STL metro area - at last check it was more than 100,000. After tonight they're expecting that number to go waaaaaay up.

I'd rather have a blizzard, ya know what I mean?

Keep warm everybody - and if you don't mind sending some warm thoughts our way we'd sure appreciate it!

MEMO TO ALL UK DISS MEMBERS:

Next time we have to defrost the car just spare a thought for others....:rotfl2: Bloody hell that sounds COLD,what do you do for heat when the power goes out?....

ps...we haven't lost power for above a couple of hours since i was a kid 35 years ago.....:)

Well, so far we've been pretty lucky because our power lines are buried, so unless a transformer blows out we might be OK. We have a big fireplace in our great room and we've stocked up a bunch of wood in the house and in the garage. I worry more about the pipes freezing if we lose power - I really don't want an ice rink in my basement! ;)

Here we are in the so-called most technologically advanced and wealthiest nation on earth, and in St. Louis this is the third time in less than 12 months that we've had several hundred thousand people lose power due to extreme weather conditions. You'd think someone would figure out a way to start burying the power lines so they're not as vulnerable.

One good thing about living in the sticks - our subdivision is so new that it made more sense and was most cost effective to bury everything so our phone lines, cable, and power lines are all underground.

Craaaaazy weather, that's what this is. But it keeps the bears and coyotes from wandering about! :lmao:

no freezing rain here in ne ohio. just rain. hoping it lets up a little so i can let the "bear " out. its funny, shes as gentle as can be till we go to the vet. then she gets up on her 2 back paws and swats at the vet. robin has the scars on her arms to prove it.

Brenda, I'm sending you all the warmth I can muster up right now.:cool2: As long as you promise to send it back! We're getting your storm as I write. Ran all our errands today and now it's 5:20 pm and we are already in our pj's. We planned on watching the Bucks game tonight but it's postponed because of the weather. Looks like we'll be busting out those videos we got for Christmas. Tonight we'll watch "Cars".

Also, watch out for those burried lines. After reading your post I'm glad ours are still up in the air. We would've been without power, phone and the fence!! :headache:
