***October 2012 Thread*** MNSSHP + Food & Wine - Does It Get Any Better?

Some big news from the Disney Parks Blog today! The Little Mermaid (standard rooms) section of the new AOA resort will begin bookings tomorrow with an opening date of 9/15!!! I know that the current free dining offers excluded AoA suites. I do have a PIN for 30% off for my Oct. dates, so once the booking starts tomorrow I will look up AoA eligibility for my PIN and see if it happens to work. I'll report back and let you know if it is eligible.

Very exciting! I went to the AAA Travel Show in my area a few weeks ago and during the Disney presentation, they had a video about the AoA and it's construction. It looks amazing! I can't wait to see the first trip reports from their.

Pretty neat. My sister originally wanted to get a family suite and share it between the four of us...but four adults in a family suite might have been a bit weird. Would have been up for single rooms, but we didn't know when they'd be available.

Ah well, next time.

In other news, it's bumming me out that I'll have to run back to Soarin' at the beginning of our Epcot day to get fastpasses. What a colossal waste of time.

So I just discovered something slightly OT but could be used to pass time while traveling or waiting in line...it's a free ap called Draw Something. It is addictive and fun!! it's easier on my iPad then my phone but still works. Imagine virtual pictionary. I love it!

I was hoping we could make a trip to Disney World this October, but DH says that we need to have some extensive body work done on our truck to pass inspection, sooo. As it turns out it is Epcot's 30th anniversary, as well as the 30th anniversary of our very first trip to Walt Disney World. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for some pixie dust. pixiedust:

Dealing with a similar conundrum.

My girlfriend just quit her job because it was making her miserable. We booked way back in January so our trip was set in stone way before she decided this.

There's no problem with payment, as I'll be paying for the trip and she's gonna chip in her half as soon as she can...

...but the bigger concern right now is whether or not she'll be able to get a week off of work (wherever she ends up) in October. It's one thing to get a week off when you've been working someplace for a year, it's another thing to get a week off when you've been working someplace for a little more than three months.

It's gonna suck if she can't make the trip and I'll have five days worth of tickets/dining I can't even use.

It's not easy, but hopefully it will all work out...first that she gets a great job and 2nd, that she has no trouble getting the time off.

It worked for me in 2005. Hubby and I got married June 2004 and my BIL was stationed in Germany. My sister's wedding gift to us was a trip to visit them. We were booked for April 2005. I quit my job in Nov. I did temp for a little while, but only part-time, so not a lot of $$ coming in. In February, I started my new job. I was able to take the 2 weeks that we had planned. It was unpaid, which I understood, but I was just happy we were able to still go.

And I'm still at the same place 7 years later, so it obviously has worked out pretty well!

Hope the same happens for your GF so you can have a great trip.

mjallemand - Just tell your GF to be up front when interviewing for new jobs. On my final interview before acceptance at a job a long time ago I told them that I had two Disney vacations booked that I would need off for. They had no problem with that and were glad I was up front about it.

So a persistent rumor I'm seeing about the internet is that Pete is finally gonna show up as a Meet and/or Greet character sometime later this year.

Holy cow, him and Oswald are the first characters I'd wait in a significant line for.

I'll just think positive thoughts for both of us, and hope it all works out. I'm old enough to know that everything happens for a reason, even if we don't get to know why. Here's some pixiedust for you and your girlfriend. pixiedust:

We're booked from 10/12 through 10/21 at OKW. My parents are coming with us, which will be so much fun. Plus, we're celebrating both our girls' birthdays and our anniversary. :woohoo: We've never been this time of year. Can't wait!!!

In looking at Monday, I'm not sure that you will be able to enjoy dinner at Kona and then make it over to MK for Wishes. We love to watch wishes just behind the castle, to the right hand side. Seems like a fairly tight schedule particularly if there is any delay in seating you at Kona. Whatever you decide, Happy Planning! pixiedust:
