***October 2012 Thread*** MNSSHP + Food & Wine - Does It Get Any Better?

Yes, you are correct! :thumbsup2

At your 180 day mark, you can make ADRs for up to 10 more traveling days. That way you only make one call to make all your ADRs. Otherwise, you'd have to call 180 days from Day 1 of your trip, then call the next day since it would be 180 days from Day 2, and so on. (Hopefully that makes sense!)

Ok I will add to this question.

I see that you can make ADRs online but I'm assuming it is better to call to make a whole bunch of them all at one time? Otherwise you could miss out as it would take a long time to do it on the computer? Or is the person at Disney on the phone using the same system of picking the restaurant and seeing what times are available, selecting it and then moving to the next day/restaurant. :confused3

I had to explain this to a guy at work the other day and they go to WDW every year. He said something about his 190 days coming up. I pointed out that it's not 190, but 180+10. (Try explaining that to a lawyer ...lol) Then I sent him the link to the calculator. He loved that.

I'm not sure if CMs are using the same system that you would see on the website.

I've done both... one year I called to make ADRs, but for our next trip I booked online myself. Not once have I had a problem in not getting the ADR I wanted.

Here's hoping you get all yours! :thumbsup2

Thanks so much. I'm eager to do it but I still don't know where I want them for sure yet. lol This is stressful! :surfweb::rotfl2:

If I want to do them myself online do I still have to get up at like 5am to do it? lol Cause I will! :rolleyes1

I'd wondered about this too! But then I realised I didn't want to rack up a large international phone bill I decided I'd do it online!

In a fit of organisation yesterday I pre-ordered my photopass cd, so that's another thing ticked off the list.

Can you post the link to the calculator please? I have my date (confirmed by my TA) and have figured out my friend's 180 date for her but she thinks I'm a day off. Need to confirm my correctness! :rotfl:

Anyone planning on being at Epcot on oct. 1st? I do have it planned but am thinking it will be ÜBER busy since that is the 30th anniversary of the park.
has anyone heard if they have anything big planned for that day? I think I am more inclined to skip Epcot that day.

I currently plan to be at Epcot on Oct 1st. Thankfully I have park hoppers so if it gets crazy by mid day I will just go elsewhere.

I don't think we know anything. But then nothing was announced much before the recent MK anniversary either.

I just booked our trip for October!!!!!! Had a great CM (Brianne), she was so helpful and gave great suggestions.

Now I have to plan our dining.......

I dont know what is worse, waiting to book ADRs or waiting to leave for our trip?????:goodvibes

I was hoping we could make a trip to Disney World this October, but DH says that we need to have some extensive body work done on our truck to pass inspection, sooo. As it turns out it is Epcot's 30th anniversary, as well as the 30th anniversary of our very first trip to Walt Disney World. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for some pixie dust. pixiedust:

So I'm reading that supposedly the schedules can change between now and the time when they happen...how much do they change and to what extent? I want to make sure my plans are flexible enough if they need to be moved around a bit.

Well, hello. I have alot of catching up to do. I can see that. I found this site quite by chance, and i can easily see my new obsession....I am used to cruisecritics, and now I will get used to this.
My husband and i are taking my grandson,(age 5), my daughter, my son inlaw to dW this october, staying at the Contemporary.,we are driving down from NY, "the kids" are flying..there is so much to think of and plan..Any help and advice is appreciated.
(haven't been to DW since they were little ones).

:welcome: to the Disboards!!!

You have come to the best place for planning, that's for sure! Since you are going in October, I highly recommend doing some research on MNSSHP (Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party). It is a great event for ALL ages! Enjoy your time here on the boards, and by the way, October is a GREAT time to go to WDW! Happy planning!

I wrote the hours for 2011 down for my week to get ideas of the park hours and where we'd go before the 2012 calendar came out. In comparing the two now, the biggest changes are extended hours on Saturday - 10/20 this year is 9 to 9, corresponding Saturday last year was 8-1am. AK had extended evening hours on the Friday, closing at 7 instead of at 5. DHS had add'l Fantasmic! showings on Thurs and Friday.

In response to questions regarding ADR's and whether to call or do on line...remember that you can do your ADR's online at 6AM EST but have to wait for 7 AM EST to call. Depending on what time zone you are in you may wait til 7 just because 6 AM would be too early. I like to get up and do them as early as possible. But we aren't staying on site so I have to do them one day at a time. Thankfully we aren't looking for any of the hot ticket ADR's this year.

As for the park hours changing...anything can happen, but mostly what we see is the park hours extending in response to Resort reservation numbers. The original hours posted are a conservative estimation of what they will eventually be. I have seen 9 AM openings switch to 8 AM and closing times have gone to an extra couple of hours, and they have added additional Fantasmic showings etc. There shouldn't be any dramatic changes to the Oct hours. The difference between what they posted and what they were last year are pretty minimal.
