Marathon Weekend 2027

** I won't judge you - III is the best of the prequels and I really think Ewen MacGregor made a great Obi-Wan Kenobi

*** This I will judge - for 2 reasons - Last Crusade over Raiders? Raiders set the bar for action/ adventure movies for the next 2 decades. It's almost a perfect movie. I have a some very sentimental attachments to Last Crusade and do love the movie, but it's a step below Raiders and is missing Karen Allen - Marion and Indy are the heart of that film. Second - Alien is totally Disney - it was part of the Great Movie Ride for almost 30 years!! :)
Oh you’ll judge me more in a minute lol… I dislike Raiders almost as much as Temple. Loved Indy and the whole adventuring concept, but could not stand Marion in any way - and there was an awful lot of her!

ETA: it occurs to me, too, that I was too young for Raiders when it came out - I saw Temple of Doom first via Betamax and only saw the monkey dinner scene, which traumatized me, so I didn’t watch the rest. Last Crusade was the first Indy pic I saw in a theater at an appropriate age. I’ve seen them all a gazillion times since, but Last Crusade still carries the best feelings!

I HAD to skip Alien to get to 3: much as I love it, it just doesn’t top the others for me. I needed an exit strategy! And I’m still mad Disney took away GMR.

I... don't know what to say. This just hurts me.

😂

SAFD: I still haven't figured out the first part of this question. So here's where I stand.

Live Action: I have enjoyed some of the animated remakes but I can't include them on this though I thought Cruella was great. And Beauty and the Beast was good too.

My list for Live action:

1. Saving Mr. Banks
2. Who Framed Roger Rabbit
3. Pirates of the Caribbean

Acquired IP:
1. Empire Strikes Back
2. The Last Crusade
3. Muppets. (All of them).

While I love the Marvel movies I can't keep them straight even though I watched all them during the Covid lockdown.

I also saw Temple of Doom probably too young and was traumatized. 🙃

I rewatched it relatively recently and still think that movie made some...very poor choices. 😶‍🌫️

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but the Sound of Music was Fox so it would fall under acquired IP.

<Ducks and runs for cover>

2) Song of the South (I loved Uncle Remus)
3) Pete’s Dragon

It’s incredibly problematic in sooo many ways! My adult son and I have discussed it a few times and agreed it’s probably better classified as a horror movie.

SAFD:

Disney Live Action:
1. Enchanted
2. Cruella
3. The Sandlot

Acquired IPs:
1. Avengers Endgame
2. Avengers Infinity War
3. Captain America: Civil War
