October 2011 Car Rental Rates

Not autoslash. Reservation made on AAA site thru Hertz. Very odd. Too bad I can't use it, as I booked Priceline already and that is noncancellable.

thanks to pp who suggested pick up at ccc and drop of mco it nocked 50$ of compared to pu and do at mco.

anyone having any luck on priceline? I have a mini van for 4>87 and a suv for 414 all taxes in for 12 days but i pick up at 5 pm and drop off at 7 am so not really 12 days...does that sound decent?

also anyone know if you get free second driver with almo insider?

Yeah, we will probably just take the hit and pay the higher prices if need be.

I'll be looking out for those last min deals tomorrow. We will be arriving the 22nd.

Well we made it to another Tuesday. I'm not feeling very optimistic here. Even though they announce the change on Tuesday, in the past the prices actually start dropping days prior and the high prices are still hanging in there. I leave in 11 days, so will have to decide soon which reservation to go with. I'm hoping after the holiday weekend approaching is done, we might see some changes. You leave a week after I do, so your chances are better for some lower prices. Still the price for rentals out of the CCC and returning to MCO are very low and very reasonable and I may go that route since I have several free days I could just rent at MCO and drive to CCC and rent there for $200 less than what my price is right now to pick up at MCO. Plus as an Executive member, I'm guaranteed a full size for the price of a mid-size! Unfortunately picking up at CCC takes me away from the Executive Aisle choices, which I love! Plus it impacts my rental credits towards free days....something I learned the hard way. But this would let me keep my Executive status for 2012! Decisions, decisions.....11 days and counting. Hope we all start seeing some low prices soon....:goodvibes

Yeah, just saw the updated deals and it seems like I'm still a week away if any deals are available for Orlando. Like you said it still includes the Columbus week so hopefully it drops for me next Tuesday. 2 more to go before I have to stick with what I got.

I was really hoping to see a drop we leave next Wednesday and I'm still at $206 for the 12-21, which I'm ok with, but under $200 would be nice.

Where is zombies falls?

What day are you leaving out? You all flying SW?

Zombie Falls is a place created by me and is a reference to a Zombie story by my DS5. He told us that when he grows up, and he is the only one left that is not a Zombie, that he is going to drive a car around and run over all the Zombies and wipe them out. Don't ask, I have not idea where he saw/heard anything about Zombies-sounds like he somehow either sneaked a few minutes of Zombieland at some point or he is just really, really creative. The funny part is, he is totally serious-he wants to be a Zombie Killer when he grows up-weirdo.

We are leaving 10/22 and we are cruising with the big SW.

LOL sounds like someone has been watching zombieland. That's cool we leave out the 22nd also. You taking the nonstop flight or a earlier flight out?

We might be flying down together. :) if so it's a small world.

Just an FYI...I'm flying to Atlanta and then driving to Auburn Alabama next week. I tried once again with priceline and much to my surprise I got a compact car from Thursday-Sunday for $98! I was ready to accept Alamo's website deal of $155 but decided to give priceline a try. Who accepted my offer? Alamo. First time I've ever got an accepted bid on that site.

does anyone know if your spouse is free on almo insiders? I read what i could find on the site but no mention of it...I thought I read on the dis it was??

What is the best gas station to fill up at if your coming back to MCO via 417?

I think there is a Circle K south of 417 on Boggy Creek.

As someone else said, we fill up on property....the one near Boardwalk and it is still "full" when we arrive! Done this a good dozen times, never an issue!

Us too! Always. We go to WDW 4-6 trips a year and always rent a car. So far, this has never been a problem.

I did read it in some of the stuff when I joined but can't find it now, it was in a "benefits" section . This does come up in the faqs.

"Fees are waived for additional drivers who are renting under corporate contracts and the Alamo Insiders program allows for one additional driver to be added at no cost."

We do it all the time with no problem. You do need to show a drivers license. Enjoy your trip.

So does that mean you have to skip the kiosk and go to the counter if the additional driver needs to show a license or can you show both licenses when you are leaving the garage?

I prefer Alamo over Budget just because we like to pick out the car ourselves. Last time I rented with Budget they did assign us the vehicle, however we were able to go back to the booth in the garage and request a different one.

If you're asking about the rental counter, it's on Level 1, same location as Alamo and the others. As for the location of the cars, if I recall correctly, Budget is on the second level of the parking garage.

Last week we rented from Alamo at the Disney Car Care Center. We DID NOT get to choose our own vehicle and the service was AWFUL! See my post at "I will NEVER rent from Alamo again"

Sorry to hear the issues at Alamo at CCC.

I have always rented from MCO in the past, but this year I am trying National at the Dolphin. I am hoping for a good experience.

Has anyone rented from National at Dolphin? Would love your feedback!!!

We're getting a car for only one day this trip to run some errands. With Insiders plus a double upgrade coupon I got the price down to $35 for a Standard and I was pretty happy with that. But then today I got an email from Alamo offering me a free one-day rental, good through Oct 31st! I was suspicious at first, thinking it might be a phishing email because it sounded too good to be true, and even if it was legit, I thought there would probably be a lot of restrictions.

I gave the code a try and was surprised to find I had my choice of Compact through Fullsize. DH will be driving and he prefers a smaller car so I booked the midsize. I still had to pay some fees and taxes but overall it came out to $5.06 including the $1.50 charge to get the Southwest points on the rental. Woo hoo!!
