October 2011 Car Rental Rates

What is the best gas station to fill up at if your coming back to MCO via 417?

I think there is a Circle K south of 417 on Boggy Creek.

We usually fill up at either the Hess right at the MK exit on property or there is a Hess station right before you get up onto 417 (via 536). We have never had any problems returning a car by filling up at those spots as the tank will still show full by the time you reach the airport.

Zife & mzozzietj - happy trails, thanx for all the helpful input:goodvibes

i'm not giving up yet, saturday is a long way off:laughing:but appears as though we will be jumping ship from national & giving alamo a whirl

Taking Zife's lead, perhaps it'd be helpful for folks to post their final/best offers for those still in the hunt? I'll go next...

Alamo
October 1 (8 days)
Standard=Fullsize

Contract: 7014667
Coupon: AD2724FZA ($35 Alamo Insiders)
note: switched over from the American Airlines coupon i had initially used just to keep things simple
Total, taxes in: $103.29

How long ago did you book? We are looking for 8 days beginning Oct 22 and I cannot get anything lower than $350. We currently have a mini van with Budget for around $350 but would happily cancel for something in the mid $100s, even low $200's.

When booking at Alamo are you just filling out the ID/Corp ID and coupon code spots or am I missing something.

Thanks

The exit before Boggy Creek is Landstar. There is a station right off the exit (Raceway or something like that).

Just got a full-size sedan at Alamo, 5 nights, Saturday overnight $64.44

I used the visa contract ID 7015504 and coupon code AD2338FDF

The economy size was only $50!!

Thanks for the tip that Alamo prices were great right now. :thumbsup2

If u get off here I assume u will pay the toll. How do you get back to the airport without getting on the toll road again?

We did something similar once on our way to WDW from MCO. We got off to grab some breakfast and when we hopped back on the freeway, we had to pay $0.50. It was the exit right after we had paid at the toll booth, but we were too hungry to care or wait. So you don't have to pay the full toll again.

Hi,

I'm not a US resident and will be going to Orlando for holiday.
I'll be staying within DW from 29-Oct to 6-Nov, during the 7, we'll be at DW for 4 days, universal for 2 days and seaworld for 1 day.

Will it be better to rent a car for my case? I tried to check Alamo, seems like the cheapest rate I see is $310 =(
Including insurance, I think it'll cost over $400. :scared1:
Can I know how do you all get such good rates?
Or will it be cheaper that I take taxi to universal and seaworld?
Sorry for posting so many qns and thanks in advance for anyone's advise.

If you are a Latin America resident, try code MF1 in the Rate/Product Code box, also sign up for Alamo Insiders (it is free), they will email you discount codes (ID) and coupons. If you are paying with Visa try, ID 7015504 and Coupon Code AD2338FDF.

Minivan rates are BAD for our dates...like near $800 for 9 days! I need something that can hold 6 people. Has anyone ever rented 2 cars? I'm thinking if we did 2 midsized cars it might still be cheaper. Definitely a pain in the hinder splitting my family up, but the savings could be big. Also does anyone know what kind of crossovers Alamo stocks at MCO? I did reserve one for $250/total, but on their website it says 5 passenger...however I know many crossovers have that 3rd row seat that could make it a possibility for my family. Any suggestions welcome! Thanks. Btw, I don't like posting my exact travel dates, but it is the end of October when we are going...

I've gone through this same predicament also when looking for a rental car for my wife's family when I initially saw vans priced around what you were getting but then found the budget coupon for a minivan that brought the price down to $350's I believe which is much more manageable.

With crossovers though remember your luggage space will be greatly reduced once that 3rd seat if equipped is raised. So you might have enough seating for 7 you might not have room for luggage.

I'm hoping when Alamo updates their last minute deals that they have something for Orlando this time around since the dates should be past Columbus day.

Thank you for your reply. I currently drive a Traverse, so I totally get what you mean about space! It is an excellent point because if I forget to take the stroller out when I go grocery shopping...well, I tend to mutter some very unlady-like words to myself over my stupidity. Any idea when I should be looking at the last minute deals? I mean generally what day do they update them and for how long are they good. Think the last time I checked they were good until 10/11??

Thanks for your advice!

The last minute deals change on Tuesdays. I've got this week and next week to hope for a better deal.

I did notice recently that the deals are somewhat better if you pick up at the CCC vs MCO, and drop off at the airport. Almost half of what we're seeing. That would mean using DME to get to the resort first, but you can still drive yourself to the airport for your return. It's worth taking a look. My dates are Oct. 15-29. My family arrives on Oct. 22, so hoping for something bigger to accommodate them, but if not, they'll have to rent their own car.

Yeah, we will probably just take the hit and pay the higher prices if need be.

I'll be looking out for those last min deals tomorrow. We will be arriving the 22nd.

I was wondering if anyone has seen this before? I have a reservation for 9 days full size from Tampa International airport the Hertz AAA. Quoted rate was $236, which was by a mile the best cancellable price available for these dates. I booked Priceline for $200 (noncancellable with Hertz). I thought this was great. I went to cancel my reservation with Hertz and the price on the quote is now $158! Anyone ever see a car reservation where they automatically change your rate?? I had no idea they even do this!

Are you perhaps using a service like autoslash which automatically rebooks a better rate should a coupon/promotion come out? Otherwise, I've never heard of this. :confused3
