So, here’s a Photopass share for October 2008. I’m willing to maintain a current list of groups (at least for a while), but will need volunteers for group leaders. If you’re not familiar with the photopass system, here’s a link with more details and tips: http://www.stitchkingdom.com/photopass

If you want to be in a group:
Please post your travel dates and note if you’re willing to be a group leader. I will try to group members with similar travel dates. Because of download time on the photopass website, groups will be limited to 6 people. (if you feel strongly that you want in a group of 10, note it in your post and I’ll combine with others who have noted the same)

Cost:
Group leaders will need to preorder the CD for $99.95 (regular cost $124.95 – link for preorder savings - http://www.disneyphotopass.com/previsitcdplan.aspx) Group leaders will also need to purchase CDs with jewel cases for copies and packing material and determine cost for USPS Media Mail.

Each group leader will divide their final cost by the number of members in their group and forward that information to their group.

Based on past experiences, total cost should be approximately $120/$125, making it around $21 each (for a group of 6). If paying with a credit card through paypal, the leader might add a minimal charge (approx. $0.60) to cover paypal fees.

When your group is full/closed:
Your group leader will send a PM or email to the group with payment instructions, final cost, and payment deadline. Payment should be sent via Paypal. Once the leader receives payment from each member, they set up a photopass account and forward account information to the group. Group leaders can designate certain days for each member to enter their photopass numbers, or have them emailed to the leader and he/she enters all of them. Either proceedure should keep the pictures sorted by member.

After photo are uploaded to the photopass website:
You group leader will let you know the deadline for all editing of your pictures (you can add borders and character signatures). The deadline will be a maximum of 30 days after the first person entered their photos. After the group is done editiing or the deadline is reached, whichever comes first, the leader will order the photoCD. After receipt of the CD, the leader will burn the photos onto CDs for the group members and mail them out. If you volunteer to be a leader, please be sure that you will get everyone their pictures in a timely manner.

Important information:
1) Do NOT enter any of your photopass cards in the kiosks at WDW or into your own photopass account. They will NOT be able to be included in the group’s account.
2) You can have multiple Photopass cards in your possession. It’s a good idea to write down the ID numbers, or take a picture of the back of your card with your own camera, in case the cards are misplaced or lost.
3) Do NOT enter any of your photopass cards in the kiosks at WDW or into your own photopass account. They will NOT be able to be included in the group’s account. (it’s important enough to list twice!!!)

Thanks to tmkinny and gortman65 for letting me work off of their photoshare threads.

I am interested, too, but I don't know much about it. We'll have to watch together!

We are going Oct. 25 - Nov. 1.

I think I might be willing to organize it if I could learn more about what I will have to do.

I'll go back and add edit my first post to include a list. :thumbsup2

wow, just checking in and we're on page 3 already. boy that was quick.

Anyone else? Oct photopass?

You'll find disney photographers in the parks. Most characters will have a photographer and cast member with them. The photographer will take pictures with their camera (and your's, if you ask). They then will swipe a photopass card (which they provide, free) through a small hand held machine that will put some sort of photo identification onto the card, for the pictures they took. You can use the same card over and over again (but if you forget it, they'll give you another).

You can the view the pictures from the internet by logging in with the number printed on the card(s). You could also view them from locations in the parks, but there's usually a line and I've never done that. Anyway, you have something like 60 days to purchase your photopass pictures or they expire.

In the past, we've been very satisfied with the pictures we take with my camera and have only really wanted 1 or 2 of the photopass pictures. However, some people only use the photopass system and don't deal with carrying a camera. But, there are times when the photopass photographer isn't available.

Also, on-line you can edit your pictures to add character signatures and different borders and such. If you pre-purchase a photopass CD, there's a savings (I think it costs $99.95).

Are there any other questions?

Forgot to add that there are other threads discussing how to run a photopass share. My preference would be to have someone who has done it before, but if not, I'm willing to do it. Based on the other threads, it sounds like 10 people is about the right number.

ETA: Have since decided that 6 is the right number to have in our group.

I'm interested! I've never done photopass before, nor am I computer saavy, so I wouldn't be a good choice to lead.

We'll be there Oct. 30 - Nov.1. (and then on the cruise, but you can't do photopass on the ship:confused3 )

Let me know what going on. :goodvibes

I have been involved in one before and it is much easier to have a smaller group. You have the leader that has to manage it and then you have the members that need to put in the photos. The file gets quite large and much slower when updating and editing. We would each enter our own photos on a given date only (you can always go back at any time and edit them) – that way our photos would be together and not spread out. It really think you should limit it to maybe 6. It will still be a great value cost wise and much less to manage. The leader that I had burn each of our CD’s onto individual CD’s (so we only had our own pics) which was GREAT! I don’t think that would have been possible with such a large group. Just my opinion – but please sign me up! October 19 – 24.

Disneybaby2004 - thanks for the suggestions. I definitely would like to only burn cds for each family with just their pictures on it. I think it's valid to be concerned about the size of files to deal with. I would like to read a bit more about it before deciding the final number. For now, let's say the first 6 are definitely "in" and there's a possibility of taking up to 10.

When I have a few more minutes, I'll investigate this some more.

Maybe someone will be interested that has ran a photoshare before and we'll go with there decision. If it's going to be my first time leading, we might just want to stay with 6. Again, I'll look into the costs and such and then we can decide.

My concern really was if we had to be in the World at different times. I didn't know if we had to share one card (which of course would be a huge hassle).

Looks like it's pretty easy.

Whatever you decide on how many to allow in is fine with me. Make it as easy as possible for yourself (if you are the one who ends up doing it!).

Kim

Looks like our group is filling up. mike r has also suggested limited the group to 6, so let's go with that. One reason is that when we all go to edit our pictures, ALL the pictures will load. It can get quite slow with many more people. Makes perfect sense to me.

So - we have room for only 1 more.

Edited post - moved directions to first post. I will email/pm group 1 directly with specific dates (in lieu of posting here).

Looks like there's room for one more! We're going Sept 27-Oct 4. I posted on another group's thread a couple of days ago but have yet to hear from anyone so I guess I'm out?? Anyway, I would be interested in joining this one. I'll send a PM!

carmie3377 - you're welcome to join us, but I don't think it's the best fit for you because of the dates. You won't be able to look at your photopass pictures until Oct. 19 and the order won't be placed until Nov. 9. You'd receive your CD around Nov. 16th. If you're ok with those dates, then I'll happily add you. Would you like to start your own group instead??? (i'm still hopeful that someone will start an "official" October photopass share)

hellokitty86 - your dates fit a little better, but please make sure you're also comfortable with the dates. carmie3377 has first dibs on being our 6th and last member of this group, but if she doesn't join or someone backs out, you're next in line.

I would love to join be there from Oct. 8-11th then on the DCL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"Each member will pay me via paypal by Oct. 2nd (our trip starts on Oct. 9 for an out of state wedding). I will then send you our group photopass account and password. We can each enter our photopass card numbers (and do any and all editing) between Oct. 19th and Nov. 9. I will place the photopass CD order on Nov. 9."

Also going along with what Mike is saying. Maybe not give out the password to all members at one time and to help with us entering photos trying to keep pictures together - you assign date ranges for each os us to enter the pics. Maybe give each of use like two days. It doesn't take much time to enter the photos from our cards. You can create the schedule and then give out the password to the person. I am sure we all want our photos together so we will go with what's on the schedule. It's also easier for you to manage - who's pics are who's. A member can tell you "my photos start with the one with the man hugging the pants off Pooh and ends with a lady screaming on Tower of Terror" ;) Just a thought.
