October 17, 2009 Western

We have not started packing yet. I am such a procrastinator when it comes to that. I have a list started though, and believe me, it is a mile long! :.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who hasn't started packing!! I have a basket in each bedroom and we are beginning to put things in there for the trip but we are still wearing most of the clothes we'll be taking so I can't pack them til next week. And I have lists of what to pack, what I still need to do, etc.

Getting excited!

I know this may sound crazy but...I think we're going to end up eating dinner many nights at Topsiders rather than the dining rooms...

Hope everyone is having a good day! Getting ready for parent/teacher conferences this afternoon!

I'm sorry to hear about your family Angie! Let's hope all is okay!! :)

We are flying mid next week and we're REALLY REALLY excited!!! YAY!!

I've gotten most of DD5's 'main clothes' packed and some things like snorkels and such. The Disney Costume is in the bag but not the accessories (a girl's gotta have accessories..).

I'm having 2 shopping days in Miami and will probably buy my white shoes there since I'm dying to have white shoes for formal night.. so if I walk with black shoes you'll know I didn't get to buy them :(.. LOL.

I have a few things on my plate:

- Literature assignment for a course I'm doing
- Sewing a tunic and dress for me and DD5
- Packing
- Packing
- Packing
- House cleaning..

I do have a few days and I think I'm in good time to 'make it' .. let's hope so right? :)

I finished DD5's autograph book with her today. Nothing complex, just stickers in an alterable album.. and some patterned paper.. simple enough and she can take it round to the characters when we're on board!! :).

Ah well..

I'm hoping that DD5 is going to make some 5-6 year old friends on board.. :)! She's really really looking forward to that!

Have a lovely Tuesday you guys!!!

Where do I begin this week i have clothes all over the place ready to be packed making final reservations and then..... About 1 month ago i decide to get direct deposit from my 2nd job, I went to Bank Of America and got the form my employer asked for didn't even think to look at it just signed and turned it in, well the teller put someone else account number and in short my direct deposit went to someone elses account yesterday :headache: What Luck Eh? I'm glad I'm not the only one who hasn't started packing!!
Getting excited!

Nope, haven't started packing here either. Maybe, this weekend we'll get to it.

I know this may sound crazy but...I think we're going to end up eating dinner many nights at Topsiders rather than the dining rooms...

Why's that?

Calling all FE Participants...

If you get a cabin change between now and Oct 13, send me a PM and I will update the FE list. We are leaving OCT 14 and I will not have a computer after the 13th. I plan on bringing 13 copies with me to pass out at the DIS meet at 3pm on OCT 17th.

My DD has had a horrible case of the flu the last few days as well, but she seems to be much better today. My husband now is feeling sick. He's not too happy about that as he's leaving Sat for a baseball tournament...

I'm hoping my DS or I don't get it, but if we do that it comes quick so we can be better by the 17th! I've had the flu shot, but the kids was scheduled for this Thursday! Don't think they'll let my DD get it, but might still give it to my DS as long as he's symptom free...

Glad to see I am not the only one not packed and I leave one week from today. So far I have packed a pair of socks and my Lakers championship shirt that I will be wearing when I get off the ship. I might start serious packing on Monday. Still trying to figure out how to get me and mom to FL on Wed. and my wife on Friday.

I have it all "packed" in my mind!!!!!

This weekend we will all pack...,... :)

Alan - I am sure you and your family fly standby on SWA, but what do you do in these cases where you have to be someplace definately and can't wait for the next free seat on the next plane?

(A coworkers DD is an FA for SWA and my coworker is always traveling places standby on SWA).

Hi Laura, my husband works for an airline also, we have standby priveleges. It is really hard to get out of our local area on standby...it can be done...just have to be very patient, the flights are always booked to capacity. When we are traveling with another party...like this time...we will usually buy a ticket just so we can stay together. When it is just my immediate family, we don't mind splitting up and playing the who can make it there first game. DH usually wins because he usually goes alone, while I have to have two seats, one for DS9 and myself. We have taken some interesting routes before to get to our destination, we usually just start early and you can usually make it to where you need to go. We had friends that flew to Hawaii for a couple of days, then another airline closed down unexpectedly and all the flights home were booked solid for days...after being there 3 days on standby they finally flew to Japan so that they could get back to California...you just end up doing what works.

I am home today with a sick child also :scared1: Hopefully it will pass quickly. We are leaving in under a week.

I hope to see everyone soon.

Just sneaking in a min at work to catch up here! Work is so busy - can't wait to relax....

I can't believe how many are getting sick! Although, in a way it's better to get it now & not worry about it while you're away. Just got my flu shot at lunch. At least the first one - still concerned about the swine flu. I've heard of Emergen-C, but don't know anything about it. I'll have to look it up when I get a moment.

Kristi - I have a feeling we'll also be at the Mickey slide! Although we may move around so they can also 'swim'. DS will have his blue suit w/ lots of sharks on it on - no idea which one DD will pick to wear!

No activities tonight, may start to put some stuff aside - thinking at least do the shoe pile tonight! I also want to put together some meds to take just in case - and clean out the supply to see what I need to stock up on. Hoping to hit Target on Fri at lunch to gather some stuff.

DS still needs a Halloween Costume. He wants to be a bottle of Mustard - saw it at Party City the other week. Trying reeeaaallllyyy hard to talk him out of it - in a nice way of course! Just found out that he wants that cause a kid in his class is being ketchup - or so he says. I really don't want to pack condiments for the cruise! Used to want to be Peter Pan - don't know where that one went. I'll have to play the movie for him to remind him!

Back to work..... Only 5 more days of it after today!!

Laura. I will be able to peice together something. I will get there on Wed. Sometimes you have to skip what is in the flight schedual and start hoping around. Still, when I looked last night I should be there by 7 right now next Wed and checked into SSR by 8:30. Now my wife I may have to go pick up in Tampa on the 16. That's cool. I rather give gas money to a friend to give me a ride to go get her than renting a car. It will be cheeper that way too and I don't have to worry about getting tickets by driving in a state on the the other side of the country. All in all, things will be fine. As another poster said, and I am going to paraphrase, felxabity is key when I fly. Honestly I have never not gotten there on a different day that I was planing on. It always seems to work out.

I just book the island tour with Captain Marvins and saved $50 versus the DCL excursion. I saved $10 per person for my husband and I and my 3 year old is free instead of $29.

Also, on the turtle farm/boatswains website they say they will pick up and drop off free.

Hope this helps anyone thinking of doing the turtle farm indepentedly of DCL.

See you soon!

I've heard of Emergen-C, but don't know anything about it. I'll have to look it up when I get a moment.

It's a powder that comes in packets which each have 1000mg of Vitamin C, and most or all of the B vitamins. It comes in all kinds of flavors and mixes in water or juice (we prefer juice. Actually, our favorite is the citrus flavor mixed with Pom-Rasp juice.) It won't cure cancer or anything, but it's definitely helpful in keeping you healthy, or moving your virus along.

Which one is the best one to use?

They've come out with a few variations, but the original Emergen-C is what we use. Not to say they're bad or anything - I just haven't personally tried them. There are flavor choices, but that's really just personal preference. We like either of the citrus flavors mixed with Pom-Rasp, or any other red juice. I've tried the raspberry flavor with the same kind of juice but it's too much berry for me. Kids tend to like the raspberry best because it's the sweetest. My husband dislikes the lemon-lime, but lots of people love it. It's all up to what you like - WalMart has several flavors to pick from. You also don't have to use juice - water works fine.

5 Days of work left til our 6:45am flight to MCO for 5 nights at SSR and then to the ship! i can barely contain myself
