October 17, 2009 Western

Surely, you MUST be joking :lmao:
I wouldn't be satisfied with under 2000. Last WDW trip gave us 2700. So, let the betting begin :thumbsup2

BTW...Vince got me a 16G card, and I'll have my laptop. So, we're good ;)FONT]

WOW I didn't realize you took that many last time we went! Thank God for digital pictures. Could you imagine if that was rolls of film? It would have cost a fortune to have them developed. You are going to give Shutters a run for their money. 2700 pictures should give you at least one of everybody on the ship.

our palo plans:

tuesday diner at 6pm
brunch thursday at 11am
high tea thursday at 3pm.

we have 2 palo things the same day, but we wanted to try them all!

as for what is planned, we had our flight (flying out of ottawa) and hotel booked for a while, we have a car rented. other than that, I still haven't printed the online papers (because really I can't figure out what needs to be printed... not so good at figuring out things!). I started to make a packing list but haven't done anything yet... I kept thinking it was too far and I had plenty of time, but NOW I have to start!!!!!

$71.28 - things do not look good for our fuel surcharge! :sad2: On a different note, has anyone received any upgrade offers from DCL yet?

QOTD: Tomorrow, we'll be 1 month to go - are you all paperwork-prepared? (Hotels booked/car rentals booked / parking arranged / transfers, etc...) What have you got left??

Well, I am ready, except for the fact that DCL hasn't coughed up my flight information yet. :sad2: I have contacted my travel agent to try to get it out of them. I actually have some decisions that need to be made based on what our flights look like. I wanna know who/when I am flying!! I know I am impatient, but geez!! You wait for the magical 30-day mark and then they tell you, "Well, it can be the 25-day mark before you see it online." The thing I don't get is that the flight modification request says: "You must submit the form at least 45 days prior to your sail date for Bahamian/Caribbean Cruises and at least 60 days prior for European Cruises." How am I going to know at 45 or 60 days out that I need a modification if I don't know what you have given me yet? I guess I am missing something. It seems weird to me, anyway.

Airline -check
Transportation MCO to Port - TBD, one of the two things DH is responsible for  We plan on booking a rental with Hertz, but he needs to use his account and credits...I may have to take this over as well ;)
Transportation Port to MCO - check
Sheraton MCO - Check

I've completed online check in and printed our paperwork, just need DH's signature (other planning task he owns ;))

Need to complete my FE gifts and plan activities for the 8 hour plane adventure cross country.

I'll probably start packing a few days prior to departure. :cool1:

You know, we're flying across the ocean and I had thought about it - what are we going to do - it's even a MORNING/Daytime flight.. my girlie has to be kept B Z!!

Right now I'm planning on bringing some activity books (my kids like the ones that you color with the 'wonder' markers and uncover hidden pictures), treats, DVDs... any other ideas would be welcome!

I remember my first cross country flight with my DD (then 2yr) I gave her a box of Dora bandaids on the way home, and it kept her occupied for 2hrs!

It's now $72.32!!! I wonder what happened? :confused3

Wow I feel for you guys. Fortunatly we book while on the Panama Repo last year before they implamented the fuel surcharge. Positive thouhts people. Still one more day to go. Well off to watch the Dodger game.

I do believe you. On a road trip many years ago, our oldest son, then a largish baby but not a toddle yet, started to get restless and whiny. Out of ideas and desperate, I handed him a McDonald's drinking straw. He played with it until he fell asleep.

My understanding is that the fuel surcharge applies to everybody regardless of when they booked. The difference was that in 2008 they were automatically adding it when you booked. If it ends up being applied to your sailing, DCL will contact you for the balance due before boarding.

This is not correct info. My friends wife who works for DCL reservations, told me to book it then so I will not have to pay it. She said there is no way there are coming to me for more money 1 month before my cruise and paid in full.

Hmm. I like your info better than the info I got. I called about the fuel surcharges before final payment was made. I am traveling with two other staterooms and we booked in October 2008, so the fuel surcharges were included. I was told that they could remove the surcharge, but if the oil price was over $70 on 9/17, I would be contacted to pay it before docs were issued. The other option was to leave it on, and if the oil price was lower than $70 I would receive it back as a shipboard credit. I opted to have it removed, and the two rooms traveling with me left it included. No sense worrying about it either way - we'll know in a couple of days!

Well I am going with my info, I will tell you this, If DCL try's to pull that, I will cancel and demand a refund. There is no way I will give them more money for a cruise that has been paid in full, checked in for, and used my DVC points for hotel stays before and after the cruise. I will tell them to stick that charge......well you know.

sooooooooooooo... I never cared much until now of the fuel charge, but I guess I should start caring if they COULD charge me MORE money!!

do you guys know what kind of money they can charge? I don't remember seeing anything about the possibility of paying more money, which is annoying because we thought we were all paid. What charge could we expect?

thanks.

OK people. Let's think about this for a minute. When I booked onboard in Oct of last year... we were charged a fuel charge. In December, they stopped adding it to reservations due to the price drop. Think about Disney's reputation. Do you honestly think they are going to come to you and ask you for money at this juncture? Heck no! How many people would they stand to lose as guests? It does not make good business sense. They won't do it. I guarantee you. If they do, I would be totally shocked. People would cancel their reservations and this close to sailing... that isn't good. They will munch the loss and implement the fuel charge to new bookings again. This is why I paid my cruise in full in February and had my TA politely ask them to remove the fuel charge. They did and I got money back. I did not want to sit around and watch the price fluctuate and maybe get a SBC or... MAYBE NOT. I weighed the risks and felt sure DCL wouldn't come knocking for more money. We will find out in a couple of days if they call.

I could not agree with you more Penny. I will cancel if the come looking for more money. That is just plain absurd. If they do it, I will also be canceling my Transatlantic, even though I am paying a fuel charge on that and they can forget about any future bookings from me. In the long run I think I am worried for nothing. They will not be that stupid.

It's $8pp per day, and there is some maximum total that escapes me. It came to $128 for the two of us. If they do charge it, we are all in cancellation penalty period, so canceling would actually cost more than paying it. No sense worrying about it before tomorrow evening in any case!

At this point I would not care about any type of penatly. I will cancel and never book with them on a matter of principal.
