October 13th, 2007~"Cruise-A-Palooza"

Hi Steve-

My son Ryan (age 8) will also be coming and with his little brother (age 6). Does your Ryan like to email, I'm sure mine would like a penpal that he could meet on the cruise. Just let me know... WELCOME!

Ryan really hasn't gotten into the email thing yet. Very computer literate, though. I'm sure they'll hit it off in the club! :)

Is anyone following WPASADI? Man, is it alot of work. We are having a blast, though. Just finished project #3. Needless to say, I'm not getting back over here often enough...

Oh man... all these kids going is making me rethink not taking mine along, lol (DD-7, DS-5). This cruise is for our 10th anniversary. It's been ages since we've taken a vacation alone. I guess what I'll have to do is book another one for the whole family while we're onboard... right? :thumbsup2

Jenn - yea, you could always book a family trip while you're on board to help with that guilt. However...feel free to borrow any of my kids during the 7 days :woohoo:

Welcome to all the newcomers:welcome: AND a belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!! :)

We have been very busy these last few weeks. My DS 6 broke his collar bone on Monday. My DH took our 3 children, a neighbor kid, and our niece sliding and my DS 6 was walkng up the hill after his first time sliding down and some kid plowed right into him. Needless to say I was upset! Oh well, what can you do. I'm rethinking this sliding thing though, this is the 2nd year in a row that something has happened.

Besides that, all is good and we have been enjoying the holidays. :)

Glad you made it to NC safely, Jenn.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Were under 280 days WOOHOO!!!!!:cool1:

the kids are already looking at the cruise stuff(from thier past ones) and asking can we do that again? DS 7pirate: DD 5:cheer2:

Jenn--- I'm sure that you will have a great time just you and DH on the cruise. We never took just a couple vacation until DS#2 went off to college and have enjoyed them all since then.

It is in the 60's in Central Pa, I am loving El Nino. DH took the outside Christmas decorations down and then he went golfing. I have just finished up taking all the inside decorations down. Usually I am depressed after doing that, but with the wonderful weather I almost felt like putting out my Spring Decorations. But I restrained myself and left my Dept 56 Dickens Village up with all the snow on the roof.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Welcome to all the New Cruisers.

Nancy

I have seen some very long packing suggestions on other boards. What do any of you recommend to take on board?

I have packed less and less each cruise. I take a black skirt which I can use various tops for dinner including a couple of dressy tops for formal and semiformal night. The other tops will go with my capris. Since we really only have 2 port of call and CC, I don't worry much about clothing. Most of the time on the ship I either have work out clothing or a bathing suit on. So my packing list looks like this for the cruise

1 basic black skirt
2 dressy tops
4 other tops that can be worn with black skirt or capris
2 capris (black and navy)
2 shorts (black and navy which can be also worn to workout in)
2 work out shirts
2 Tshirts
2 bathing suits
Sweatshirt (I'm always cold)
1 black sweater to wear at dinner
Sandles, sneakers and dress sandle for formal night

The capris, shorts and work out tops are all the type of material that can be washed in the sink and dries fast. Underwear I take old ones and throw out so I don't have to bring them home.

My Husband

Takes a suit with 2 shirts and a tie
2 dresspants
4 Golf shirts
3 nice shorts
2 work out pants (also double as swimsuits)
2 workout shirts
2 T shirts
Sneakers and dress shoes.

My first 7 day cruise I took so much stuff that you could hardly close the suitcase. Now I have the bare essentials.

It is the same when we go to WDW. Since I am a DVC member laundry is easy to do at all the DVC resorts, since everything that is 1BR and above has a washer and dryer. Even if you have a studio you are close to the laundry room and it is free at DVC. I used to do laundry on the cruise, but don't bother with that anymore either.

So you don't need a ton of stuff. Hope that helps.

I hear you on that one! I am scaling down in a major way for this vacation. DH and I are packing in one suitcase and all three of the kids in another. A large carry-on for each of usl (we're flying down from NJ) and that is that! I like the list you put out for your DH. I swear, my DH is worse than a woman when it comes to packing clothes!!

How do the prices of souveniers compare to the shops at WDW? I figuring they're the same so I better start saving now for all the extras the kids are going to throw tantrums for! hee hee

Oh my goodness, I am so bad!!! you would think after already doing two cruises I would be better. Nope, not happening. I am the "what if" person.

What if all my shirts get dirty? What if I don't have time to do laundry? I try to down size, and actually last time I did, a little. :) I'm that person who ways her luggage at home because she has gone over the weight limit at the airport and it's not fun shifting things around so you don't have to pay the over-weight charge. But basically I'm hopeless, and my DH just roles his eyes at me. But at least I'm entertaining (to watch that is). popcorn:: :)

I usually over pack. I have been keeping lists of cruise tips and packing tips, it must be three pages by now. If I did everything it says and packed everything on the list my family couldn't take any clothes.

It would serve them right for laughing at my compulsive self.:yay:

You guys seem to have covered all the packing tips. I've been trying to scale down packing stuff in general anytime I travel. I'm usually a pretty good packer but my BF has me beat. LOL I don't know what I'm going to do about Colorado...snow stuff is so bulky! HAHAHA

The cruise is so much easier to pack for...swim suit, sarong and flip flops. :)

Wow. I haven't been on this board for a while and then you guys go and get 28 pages on me? Well, it is my own fault, I should have checked at least weekly...

Hey All,

Well we are one more step closer to finishing our planning. We have a week before and a week after booked at Saratoga Springs and the reward airline tickets are now booked! Last three items are to pay the cruise off, buy our park passes and schedule food/events :thumbsup2

Hope to see you all there!

Hi all..I must say that here I thought I was ahead of the game by booking early, and boy was I surprised! My husband and I decided to take our four awesome children (daughters ages 11,6,2 and son 8) on the October Magic cruise. We are all extremely excited but have so many questions...Anyone able to assist me? I am concerned about our room location on the boat. This is our first cruise ever and I am afraid of getting a little seasick, any suggestions? how about is there enough for my kids to enjoy themselves also?

P.S. How did you get the ticker on your responses with the countdown?
:laundy:

I am so excited. This will be my families 1st cruise ever. I have always dreamed of doing something like this. I must say I owe my sister Cindrla a thank you for suggesting this. We are all going on the same cruise. YEAH!!!!!:goodvibes I have 3 sons ages 3,9,13. This cruise seems to have something that they all will be able to do. :woohoo:

Counting the days!:tinker: :tinker:

Welcome cindrla & kprintz! :)

How exciting! This is our 3rd Disney Cruise, but I remember our first! How fun to go with family too. I have a daughter who will be almost 11 at time of the cruise, a son 6, almost 7 and son 13 at time of cruise. Your kids will love it, there is so much to do, actually to much. You will probably have to book a 2nd or 3rd to fit everything in. ;)

If you click on the ticker at the bottom of this message it will open up a webpage where you can get one with instructions. You copy the HTML it creates for you and paste it in your signature box.

New cruisers... yay!

U2FanHfx - am I ever jealous!! We love SSR and to sandwich a cruise between our favorite place... well that would just be too cool for words, lol!

I can't wait to start really planning this. We're headed to Orlando in April to stay at Universal, so I've been spending alot of time getting ready for that, but there's nothing like The Magic! I can't wait to visit the eastern itinerary...
