October 13th, 2007~"Cruise-A-Palooza"

Apooh - welcome to the boards, and welcome to the family of cruisers. You'll love it. :welcome:

Thanks for the warm welcome!

It's so overwhelming doing research and reading forums - any suggestions/advice about ANYTHING is greatly appreciated LOL. I already ordered my free DVD and Passporters book. Can't wait to get them.

Anyone with young kids, who watches your child(ren) when you have dinner at Palo's??

Speaking of the Passporters book, would the experienced Disney cruisers recommend this? I've cruised three previous times (with and without the kids) so I don't need any 'cruise information'. I would love to read any and all insight on the cruise. When we did WDW two years ago I went through one of the books and it was my bible! Is this Passporter Guide the same? And where's the best place to get it?

Add us to this cruise, we booked while on the Wonder last week.
Me, dh, dd6, dd4 1/2 and ds 4 1/2.

Have to leave all our bigger kiddos home this time as they will have standarized testing going on in October.

This will be our tenth Disney cruise (9th time on the Magic, once on the Wonder).

We plan on just relaxing and not doing much in the way of excursions or preplanning. :goodvibes

Looking forward to meeting new dissers, it is always a highlight of our cruise.

My family will be joining all of you on this trip! Kids are 5 (turning 6 on cruise), 13 and 17. Looking forward to the trip and meeting new friends!

Christina - I'm a total newbie but from my researching and non-stop reading of forum groups, I've read the Passporter's book is THEE book to buy for the DCL.
I pre-ordered mine from Amazon. The latest edition which includes the Medit. itineries comes out on Jan. 28th. It's $12 something.

I know I am a newbie as well, but my aunt lent me her Passporters Guide and my husband, my oldest (dd11) and myself can not seem to put the thing down. Every time we look at it we are even more excited, if that is possible!!! My sister and her family, my parents and friends of ours are joining us. I keep detailing info I've read in this book to them. I am considering buying one for all of them, as it is so informative!! Have a great day. Can't wait to meet all of you.

P.S. My husband I are starting our Slim in 6 in early Feb in anticipation of the Cruise....:laundy: :laundy: :laundy: Now I am leary of the Radisson, we have booked reservations for the night before...aaaggggh!!

Hi My friends and I have just booked our cruise. 2 of us are disney nuts and want to see what the cruise is all about. The other 2 are new to disney believe it or not. We are all adults would love to hear from anyone who has taken this cruisse minus kids. We hope this doesn't detract from the fun Gladys

Cindria - how come you are leary of the Radisson? I was thinking of booking a room there the night before, too.

Gladys - can't speak from experience but from what I've read, there are PLENTY of things to do for cruisers who do not have kids. There is a restaurant people rave about, Palo (sp?) that is adults only. There is a pool area that is adults only plus some lounges, etc...that are for 18 & over.
Not to mention when you get off at all the ports...

Regarding the Raddison, I read a few posts back there were not such good rumors rolling about that...I see others had positive things to say. I want to make sure that we have good accomadations and get to the ship w/no hassles!! Anyone staying on deck 1???:laundy:

My last 4 cruises have been without children (ours are young adults) and we loved it. There are so many adult only activities both during the day and after 9pm. We always due late dining and then got to Rock n Bar D after dinner for the adult only entertainment.

Hello Bevtoys daughter. I am new to this posting thing, so hope I have it right. My family is going on the 10/13 Magic Eastern trip. I have 3 girls, one of which will be 17 at time of trip. Would be nice to have you two chat!

Hello Kate,
No she does not have a DIS name yet. I will have her get it started tonight. She was excited when I told her you were on this board. Her name is Kayla. This is my familys first cruise, and we can't wait! I"m hoping we ALL have a great time! My other girls are 12 and 5, which both of them will be celebrating a birthday on the trip! Thanks for posting, as Kayla is glad to see there's others her age! Oh, and I'm the mommy, Shawn. :goodvibes :goodvibes

Hey to all –

I am so sorry to ‘be away’ for quite some time. Believe my last post dates around Thanksgiving time – and I’m a little embarrassed. Our family has experienced some changes – not the best I am sorry to say. My MIL suffered a stroke – regretfully the recovery has been very slow. My DW is quite the trooper and is extending herself taking on some duties for her mom/dad. Needless to say...it’s been quite a challenge for us all.

I do promise to post more often ---- cuz....I gots some catching up to do.

Well here goes –

WELCOME TO THE NEWBIES (APOOHFN, HOMEW3, CINDRLA, GLADYS [congrats on your first post], GRLZMOM, KPRINTZ [congrats on your first post], IMSCHWABBY, CRAFTYCRISSY, SNICKSED...some of you are not so new...but – a hearty welcome anyway. Please forgive me if I’ve snubbed anyone...

Jen...thx for ‘missing me’...I missed you all as well...but – I promise to be better about posting.

Appears to be some discussion on ‘staying at the Radisson’ in Coco Beach. Guess the reaction appears mixed. All the posts and trip reports read have been very favorable – I can’t remember seeing any problems with this property. Most were not thrilled at the price...but felt the proximity to port and on-site car drop off were a big plus.

Sweet packing lists and suggestions....gosh...I just wish I could follow them. We are ‘terminal over-packers’ and it’s such a drain transferring out of the condo and after a wonderful day at Castaway Cay to pack. Maybe this will be the year/trip we change – i hope...i hope...i hope.

Jen...sorry to hear about DS breaking his collar bone...is he out of the sling – or was he like most and only wore it for 3-5 days? My best...hope all has healed well.

Jenny2...Nan and I took a DCL 4 day on our 15th wedding anniversary...the guilt lasts....oh...2 blocks – maybe 3. We had an awesome time and look forward in doing this again for our 25th...in 2010 – ouch...that’s only 3 years away. We are hopeful that DCL will repeat sending the Magic west in 2010. since flights for us to LA are 55 minutes...we could prob squeeze in a 7 day.

Bigben – some how...I’d bet a ‘beverage of choice’...there’s a great story behind – you winning the ‘butt shaking’ contest. Maybe you can share it over a pint in October. I did read your trip report...sounds like you all had a great time.

I have a copy of the DCL Pass porter and like the way it’s organized. I still highly recommend a 90 page document written by Mickey Morgan (i think) it’s posted on all-ears-net or Deb Wills site – here’s the link for an outstanding resource. http://allearsnet.com/cruise/mdcg.pdf I highly recommend you ‘burn a printer’ cartage or have your local office supply print you a copy.

In case you are wondering...I did ‘catch up’ with my buddy Brenda – Oybolshoi. Speaking of Brenda – if you are looking for another outstanding trip report on WDW and an Eastern DCL cruise...check out the links below her signature on our thread – post # 428. ‘Cruisin and Boozin’ October 2005 --- is a hoot. She shares some great information with well written experiences. You should check this one out.

Ok...I know I’ve not ‘caught up’...but it did feel good to get some what current.

Hi Kate, this is Kayla. I am so excited to go on this cruise. Have you been on one like this before?

Ok folks. I have a daughter, Chelsey, who will be 12 at cruise time, as well. She is anxious to meet other pre-teens also!!
