October 13th, 2007~"Cruise-A-Palooza"

I love all the name suggestions for the cruise group.:goodvibes

Would also love to be included in the yahoo group. I am not very computer literate so I hope I can figure it out. After all my cruises and time on the DIS I still dont know how to post a picture :confused3

Read all the previous posts about some Radisson concerns. We have stayed there for a couple of cruises and had no problems, the shuttle was convenient and the suites were huge. There have been some negative posts in the past six months and I think some of it surrounded a "dog conference" the Radisson held and there were lots of dogs at the resort and some people werent happy. Our experience there was positive, but we felt the prices were pretty high. Our kids did love the pool there, but when arriving the night before, we rarely had time to swim. We prefer the newer hotels (country inn and suites and residence inn) now simply because they have had better rates and free breakfast and all new and totally nonsmoking at the Country Inn and Suites which works well for my asthmatic dds. But I think the Radisson is also a great option if you are looking for a resort type place to stay.

Congrats to all of those celebrating special occasions on this cruise.

Anyone booking anything special for the summer of 08? Hopefully our travel agent will be getting us booked on the westbound repo and I am nervous and anxious just waiting to find out on Wednesday if we are able to reserve staterooms.

Wishing you all a wonderful day.

Hello everyone!

My apologies for not being more active on this thread, it really isn't like me at all. I just don't know where the time goes...:hourglass

Welcome to all the newbies! :welcome:

d'Isigny - Sorry to hear about your MIL. I hope your family and everyone else's on here who've been going through anything recently all the best and I'm sending you some pixie dust...pixiedust:

I'm so excited that it's finally 2007 and the countdown to the cruise is getting even closer. The ladies who will be joining me in my room are still "lurking" but hopefully when time permits, they will join in on the thread and meet you all. The spring semester started up recently so it's back to the crazy schedule and living on energy drinks...:crazy2: At least I don't have the cheerleaders right now since we're in the off season for competition...thank goodness for small favors. HAHAHA

I love all the name suggestions too! One cruise...in a past life...the DISers I cruised with and I designed really great shirts that we used iron on transfers...if I can find any pics of it, I'll share them. If I have any ideas for a name, I'll post it as well...lol...fun stuff!

Okay, well I'd better get to work.

Have a great day!

Alright the talk of Panama is dead. Now for a name. I was thinking
"Cruis-A-Palozza"
or "Mouse-A-Palozza"
That was just 2 if I can think of any others I'll post them.

Jenny2 - I see that you will also be celebrating your 10 year anniversary in October (so are we!). When is yours? Ours is October 11th (so it''ll be a belated celebration).

Ours is the 26th... so it's an early celebration :)

We'll have to make sure everyone knows it's our anniversary, lol! :cool1:

Jenn2 - we'll go around telling complete strangers "It's our 10 year anniversary!" LOL

I LOVE the name Cruise-A-Palooza (sp)!

Anyone staying at the Residence Inn the night before embarking? I'm bummed because I read in old threads people would get AAA rates for a 1bd suite for under $120 and now its slightly over $150. Oh well - still looks like a nice hotel and the location can't be beat.

We want to spend a couple of days at Disney World before the trip but DH doesn't know if he can take the time off from work so right now we're in limbo. Doesn't he know I need 8+ months to plan transportation and hotel rezzies??!!:rolleyes1

Did you get an invitation to the Yahoo group yet?
If not then send me your E-mail address using the Private Message feature on the DIS board and I will enter your invitation so you can get in.
There is a poll there and some interesting links and databases for more information about the cruise.

Jeanne,
FINALLY someone outnumbered me on kids! Nice to see though you have girls exactly the age of mine! Hopefully they will all be able to meet!

Thanks to all for the welcome! We are so enjoying this site, and excited about the trip with our new friends!
Shawn

Here is a list I have compiled of all the cruise name suggestions> If I missed one let me know. I can create a poll at the off site group and everyone will have a vote on their favorite title!

Jeanne & Shawn - 7, 6 kids (respectively)! I am in AWE of you both!!! I'm exhausted with ONE lol.

I just received my free DCL dvd & booklet yesterday - I'm now even MORE excited! What a treat to get the great booklet, too - I thought I'd just get a DVD. Anyone who hasn't requested one, I highly recommend it.

Is it October yet???

And I think I forgot to say, too, THANKS to all for your warm welcomes!

Wendy

I have a question for the experts:

Are we seated at dinner w/other people or do families get their own tables? I love meeting new people but wouldn't mind having dinner w/just my DH & DS. Can we request a table for 4?

TIA!

Thanks Bev for compiling a list of the cruise name suggestions for us. I like all the ideas, it's fun to see what people are coming up with.

APOOHFN, we are staying at the Residence Inn. I have heard good things about it, it has continental breakfast which is a plus, and there will be six of us ( my niece is coming with us) so it's hard to get a room/suite that will fit all of us for a pretty reasonable fee.

In regards to the seating situation at dinner... When we went (five of us) we requested a table for just us and we got it. When just my DH and I went in October 2005 we couldn't request a table for just us, but we ended up linking our reservations with another couple from our DIS meet's group-"The Molar Express." :)
So, yes they have tables of four and so if you put your request in with your TA or if you made your reservation with Disney than just request thru them. This year we did the same thing with just a table for our family.

Kevin, it's nice to hear from you and I am so sorry to hear about your MIL. I pray things are going better with you and yours. Thanks for asking about my youngest DS's collarbone. He's doing good, it seemed to heal really fast and yes, the sling he was in didn't last that long. :)

Jenmack - thanks for the info re: seating...I will definitely put in a request. Maybe we'll run in to you at the Residence Inn - I'll yell out "JENMACK???";)

Does anyone have a picture of the stateroom door? I need to know how big the room plaque is on the door. I have to start getting ready to decorate.

BigBen - I found this on an old thread:

All measurements are inches.

The door is 28.75 x 77.75.
13.5 down from the top is the circular door marker that you ought to make allowances for...it has a 7.5 diameter.
The door assembly is 35.25 down from the top and is 9.5 tall. It extends from the edge 4.5

Hope that helps!

:confused3 I didn't know how to spell it and after APOOH spelled it a different way I went looking. and yes we have a spelling change it is spelled PALOOZA :teacher: so it would be CRUIS-A-PALOOZA. Thanks APOOH.:thumbsup2

APOOH - How did you come up with that so fast?
