OK, here goes.

Hott Tubb Kidd - Chapter 1
Once upon a time on a 4day Wonder cruise port day, Alan and Jamie found themselves 'kidless'. Allie was with Granny at the straw market, Cale was in the kids club making chocolate chip cookies, and Uncle Chris (Alan's brother -he's not a kid) was over on the other side of the island a-gamblin'.

Alan and Jamie decided to visit the adults only area of the ship and enjoy some quiet couple time. They relaxed on some deck chairs for a while and then decided to get in the hot tub. They were sitting and chatting and enjoying each other's company, when, as always, the conversation shifted to the kids. Jamie glanced over at the deck chairs and inquired, "Do you think we can hear the beeper if Cale needs us?"

All the color drained from Alan's face, as he slowly reached into the water and pulled the beeper from his swim trunks waistband....

The nice CM gave them another and said that maybe the wet one would dry out and work again by the end of the cruise.

Hott Tubb Kidd - Chapter 2
Well, as you can guess, the beeper did not work on the last day of the cruise (or so the CM said), so they lost a couple hundred dollars. Which turned out to be OK because Uncle Chris won Jackpot Bingo and handed Alan $200 out of his winnings. Jamie has wonderful in-laws!

Hott Tubb Kidd - Chapter 3
Well, Alan and Jamie, the kids, and the in-laws get off the ship and Jamie thinks, "Well that's ok, lesson learned." But not Alan. He decides that since he paid for the beeper that he should have the beeper. So he begins calling DCL until he gets someone who can help him.

Lo and behold, soon after they get back to TN, the beeper arrives in the mail. And guess what. It worked!

Alan decided to let it go at that point and keep it as his souvenir of the trip.

All of Alan's cruising friends enjoyed giving him a hard time about his 'souvenir'. And living in a fairly small town, stories get around to those they know who enjoy Disney cruises.

That December, some friends were embarking on a DCL cruise, and went to register their kids for the clubs. As the mom was signing the papers, she was cautioned by the CM to be careful with the beeper, as one time a man got in a hot tub with his on his waistband and ended up having to pay for it. Well, the friend burst into laughter and proceeded to tell the CM that she knew that man - Alan.

It's a small, small, world.

And that is how Alan earned the pirate name Hott Tubb Kidd.

his grandmother was there babysitting him!!!!!!!! and yes I'm pretty sure she heard me telling the boy that what he did was not very nice and to appologize to Josh and to never hit anyone with a stick ever again!!!!!!!
I made Josh go over there and tell her what the boy did and I heard her tell him to come in the house to have a time out.....I couldn't leave Kevin alone in the house so I stood outside to listen...
