Reading news reports on line that Spirit is in financial difficulty even after emerging from bankruptcy. I'd be very careful to have a backup plan if planning on flying them.
Yes, Frontier is in much better shape than Spirit. IIRC, Frontier has tried a few times to purchase Sprit.Oh me. I actually thought about trying Spirit in January from Atlanta, if we do decide to head down to the world then. Maybe not? Frontier any better?
So far we love Breeze and never have had a problem. Hopefully next month I will not be coming back here to retract this statement (flying with them over the holiday weekend to MCO)Thank goodness I’m not considering Spirit Airlines! Breeze or Southwest for Disney, here I come!
Also beware that some plans don't provide coverage for financial default at all. Most single-trip plans do provide financial default coverage, but my annual travel insurance plan does not.Anyone planning to book/fly on Spirit that thinks travel insurance will help them...read your policy VERY carefully. Many insurance policies will not provide coverage for a 'known event', and now that Spirit has publicly declared a going-concern problem, it's the perfect reason an insurance company can deny coverage.
