Oct 30 2010 7 Night Western (PART 2)

WOW...you guys have been busy chatting since last time I was on. Sorry to say but we will not be joining you on this cruise:sad2: My sister in law went to pay the balance for the cruise only to find out they had cancelled their reservaion!!!! We had moved our cruise date from what we had booked on the cruise...my nephew would now be 3 at time off sailing so his deposit went up... they (DCL) said that they notified us but we never got the memo, now the cruise is full so in order for us to go together we had to pick a new cruise date so we could all be together. YOu guys have a blast and maybe we'll meet up on another magical cruise in the future

Oh that's awful! I am glad you got sorted in the end, but it is a real shame we won't be meeting you on this cruise. Have a wonderful time when you do sail - looks as though you don't have too much more of a wait :goodvibes

Hi,

Sorry that you won't be joining us on the cruise and that it didn't work out with your extended family. I hope you have fun on your cruise in January. :goodvibes Maybe we will meet again on another cruise someday.

MJ

Nicole

Awesome! So glad you all like them!!

How do you guys put up the Disney countdown? I love that. I have 49 days and counting. Kids are excited, wife is excited.

The easiest ones are the ones from here- distickers.com Just go there and on the left hand side pick "Vacation Countdown". and then follow the step by step instructions picking out a banner and slider and put in your dates. When you are done you get a page with 4 boxes of links. I think the right one is PseudoHTML. In another browser window, have the dis open and click on Quick links (upper right hand side banner under your username), and then "Edit Signature". In the box for your signature you then paste that link code from the box on the distickers page. You can click preview to make sure it looks right (if it doesn't try copying and pasting from one of the other 4 boxes). When it looks good, just click on save. Hope that works for you! :thumbsup2

Ok so Im a TOTAL Halloween Lover Its my favorite holiday of the entire year and today I was bored and went inside walgreens just to walk around and grab a roll of papertowels so i can clean some. Well I always like to walk through the halloween section once it gets put out and this was my first time in it since its been put up and I found out that i guess this year everything is prettymuch disney themes even the cheap plastic orange trickortreat pumpkins but this yr they had mickey ears attached to them and there was disney stakes for the ground and disney candy everywhere they had the cutest minne and mickey marshmellows on a stick. I was so excited for our trip now even more and at first i was upset that i wasnt going to be home to go trickortreating for the holiday but now think i maybe MORE excited cause everything around me halloween themed. Thought i would share just incase anyone needed to stop at their local walgreens to pick up little things for their fish extenders or for their kids :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Very cool!!! That is definitely info that helps me, and that's all I'll say about that! :rolleyes1:tiptoe:

So am I correct to delete Royfam (5) and the Cates Family (3) off my fish extender list since they were traveling together?

Beth

Beth

Unfortunately, that is correct. I was bagging up some more of my FE gifts today, and ended up eating Royfams treat. (I was looking at the bright side of their cancellation).... Just kidding royfam, I'll miss meeting you. Perhaps we'll see you on a future cruise sometime. And I'm happy to hear that you will still be cruising in the near future! All the best to you and yours! :)

I have, from the DCL Facebook site, a recipe for Tomato Basil Soup, the one thats made in Lumiere's and Triton's!

I can copy and paste it here for anyone interested in it. It looks yummy, sounds yummy, and I can't wait to make it myself! :)

Tomato Basil Soup
Lumiere's and Triton's

Ingredients:
- 1 stick butter
- 2 carrots, roughly chopped
- 1 medium onion, roughly chopped
- 1 stalk celery, roughly chopped
- 1 leek, washed well, roughly chopped
- 3/4 tsp salt, divided
- 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup malt vinegar
- 1 (12-ounce) can tomato paste
- 1/2 cup all purpose flour
- 5 cups low-sodium vegetable stock
- 1 (14.5-ounce) can crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup chopped basil
- Garnish: cracked black pepper, sour cream and croutons

Preparation:
1. Melt butter in a large stockpot over medium heat until foamy. Add carrots, onion and celery. Season with 1/4 teaspoon salt and pepper. Saute until onions are translucent, about 6 to 8 minutes. Add garlic, and saute until fragrant, about 2 minutes.

2. Add tomato paste to sauteed vegetables. Cook until mixture is thick and slightly dry, about 3 minutes, stirring often. Sprinkle flour over mixture, stirring to combine. Cook, stirring constantly, for 3 minutes.

3. Slowly pour in vegetable stock, whisking until smooth. Add crushed tomatoes and remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt, whisking to combine. Cover, and increase heat to high, bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low, and simmer for 40 minutes, occasionally whisking and scraping bottom of pot to keep from scalding.

4. Meanwhile, combine brown sugar and vinegar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Simmer, stirring occasionally, until mixture is syrupy and reduced by half, about 10 minutes. Set aside.

5. Add cream and basil to soup, stirring to combine. Add reserved sugar-vinegar mixture, stirring to combine. Puree soup in the pot using a hand blender; alternatively, puree soup in batches with a regular blender. Pour pureed soup through a fine-mesh sieve into a separate stockpot or serving bowl.

6. Garnish each serving with cracked black pepper, sour cream and croutons.

Thank you for the soup recipe I have copied and pasted it into a word doc already. Great idea for a winter night.

We cleaned out the inside of the car today (we are driving down) and have pulled out the luggage. We only have 38 days before we pull out of our drive. I will never get it all done.

We aren't Gluten-free but I did notice a thread on the main board today that looks like it has links to some great info for you! :goodvibes

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! I spent some time last night at work, printing, copying, cutting, sorting, and assembling clues for the ToT. I'm about halfway done already, and they look pretty cool!

I did decide to go with one clue per "group" that signed up but I did build in a few extras per stop of each color group so if some of the older kids want to separate and go with friends there should be no problems accommodating that!

I have my candy bag out (big duffel) and we plan on doing the shopping next week. I have an online order for the ToT to make, I will do that this week and also I am ordering my FE gifts this week too (am I the last to get started? ;))...waiting on the shipment of lanyards to arrive so I can start putting those together too! So exciting!!!

We are leaving just 5 days after you! Perhaps next weekend, I'll get the van cleaned out, and perhaps then it will be safe to pack away the shorts ect into suitcases. I've realized now, I'll need 3 boxes for our FE gifts. Would have been less if I just bagged them up when I get on the ship, but then that would take away time to enjoy the ship. Perhaps I can snag a suitcase from my sister in law and then I'll need only two boxes, or maybe just one, depending on how much I could fit into a large suitecase. I have to be careful now with the luggage, don't want my boys asking questions.

Lois, jow long is your drive? And you are on the ship before us, doing a B2B? If thats right, thats an Awesome vacation!!:) I only wish!

Sounds like you are working hard, Jen. It sounds exciting and we all can't wait. Thanks for all this hard work. You are very much appreciated!! :worship:

It is a two day drive. (About a total of 24 hours on the road) We are spending the 1st night at a friends house in Tenn and then the next stopping as close to the port as we can get. We have Thursday and Friday night reserved at Country Inn and Suites at the port. The best part is we are doing a B2B so we have 14 days of Magic.

FYI several of our DISERs on the 10/23 cruise have gotten their cruise docs so we should begin to see ours in a week or so. The cruise doc is what makes this vacation real to me!
