Oct 30 2010 7 Night Western (PART 2)

:rotfl2: I know I have told the story before, but...

Our last cruise was the first one after the last dry dock in '08, and I made one for that cruise. I did sooo much research making that little spreadsheet for everyone. Worked so hard on it, even called DCL multiple times to verify things (as others did too). I was so certain it was correct. And it would have been if DCL didn't change things up on us.

Long story short, they crammed a 3 night cruise in before ours since they decided they would be done with dry dock early (before they realized how much work they needed to do tot he engines and pool decks in DD- the result of that was the poor people on the 3 day cruse had green and brown pools). Dry dock work wan't complete and continued throughout our cruise. Our itnenrary was changed to give the CM's an extended night in Cozumel, which altered our Pirate night and consequently our dining rotations. They made all new rotations just for that cruise. It messed *everything* up.

So there we all were, masses of us in line in RBD to change our rotations up because of course, we all used the info I provided to know which nights to be in Palo and now none of it worked out. A guy a few people up in line had out the spreadsheet as he was talking to the CM and tried to tell the CM he KNEW this info he had was right and that the KTTW rotation was wrong!! The CM said to the guy '"Where did you get that?" LOL I wanted to curl up and die! I was so embarrassed!!!

So anyway if it is wrong it wouldn't be the first time, but not from lack of effort! ;)

That is so funny :rotfl2:! I guess that is the time to start looking all around for the person responsible as innocently as you can :rolleyes1

I too have a story to share . . . and before I get into it let me fill you all in - my age starts with a 4 and has a digit after it - however - you wouldn't have known if you had seen me on my last cruise . . .

I guess I technically need to share that I also have a Jiminy Cricket tattoo on my ankle (as Linda says, "sometimes what happens in Vegas does NOT stay in Vegas"!)

So, I had only seen Jiminy one time - that time I planned to be in WDW for Earth Day (2007) because I was told that Jiminy always comes out on that day! He did, I saw him, it was magical!

So, 2008 we are on the Halloween cruise - we get the Navigator for the next day (which was my birthday) and it says that Jiminy will be in the Atrium! I was thrilled!! So, we planned our breakfast so that we would get to see Jiminy right after breakfast with about 15 minutes to spare!

We get to the line right on schedule and the handler tells me, "I'm sorry this line is closed." I point out that he was supposed to be there for another 15 minutes. She tells me I'm wrong! I got so upset!! (yes now it seem riduculous but at the time I was upset!) So, I went over to Guest Services Desk and explain to the girl what happened and she looks at the Navigator and tells me that I was right - but by now, Jiminy was gone. She takes my name and room number and tells me someone would get back to me.

So, we return to the room and in a matter of minutes the person in charge of characters calls me. She appologized for the incident and asked me to pick a time that would work for me and I would now get a private viewing with Jiminy!! We plan it out and at this time I cried.

So, then, presto chango - they had to switch our days around - now we were not doing Grand Cayman (water too rough to tender) - we were doing Key West instead - and now the days were switched. So, when they switched things up (this was mid day for us so all of our Navigators were void and we waited for the new ones to be printed) -our day at Grand Cayman was now a day at sea and the Day at Sea was now Key West - so - they brought Jiminy out - not scheduled just a surprise - so I got to see him and cancelled the private viewing. The woman kept telling me that I could still keep it and I told her I wasn't really asking for anything that special, I just wanted to see him and was happy with the visit. The next day - I got a nice "birthday gift" from Jiminy - he sent me a b'day card with his picture on it - a b'day pin - and some chocolates :worship:

So, the schedule on the first post can be changed . . .

That story is just so lovely, it is true Disney magic at work. It really does serve to remind that young or (not so!) old, the magic is always there :wizard:

Whilst we are on the subjects of tales to tell and tequila, I will share my last very embarrassing encounter. It was New Years Eve in 2003 I think, and we had some friends over. We were playing some kind of game where you had to give clues to your teamate to guess a famous person within a set time - and if they couldn't get it, you had to down a small shot of tequila....I know I know, I am older and wiser now....

Anyway, the tequila ran out, and despite being a small 5' 3 I am not too bad at handling my drink, so I got complacent when DH asked me to choose the next forfeit shot. In my tequila hazed wisdom, I chose Ouzo. I don't know if you would have heard of it, it is a Greek liquer that tastes of aniseed - very very nice, but also very strong. Anyway, two shots later, the room began spinning....I had the presence of mind to try to get myself to bed, and in fairness I got there....I just managed to whack into two walls and knock a 6 foot live, fully decorated Christmas tree crashing to the floor on the way

Needless to say, I was not the hostess with the mostess that night, but luckily, I did learn my lesson :rolleyes1

In my tequila hazed wisdom, I chose Ouzo. I don't know if you would have heard of it, it is a Greek liquer that tastes of aniseed - very very nice, but also very strong.

:scared1: I would never choose Ouzo to do shots. I have friends who are Greek and their parents are always bringing out the bottle before dinner - that stuff is mighty powerful. I wouldn't even last two shots (and trust me - I can drink - went out to celebrate one of my staff getting married last week - tried 6 different mixed drinks plus a couple of shots of tequila and still managed to get into work the next day).

Gotta love that tequila haze.......:rotfl:

No, not my finest hour! I do love ouzo though, I just need to remember it is one of those drinks you take long with lemonade, and only ever have one!! Harsh lesson learned, but I was 28, should have known better :sad2:

Yes two adults will consider mickey nuggets dinner, so kids when mom and dad say no. You can tell them you read it on the post and if they can do it, so can we,lol:rotfl:

Oh, one other word of advise for all of the tasters out there - remember to REMOVE the chocolate from your pillow BEFORE retiring for the evening. I could not explain to my kids why I had chocolate smeared all over the side of my face.:rotfl:

YAY!!!! See ya next month!!

NEXT MONTH??? Wow, does that ever feel weird to say! Yet, a really good feeling to say it too!

I'm sitting here slightly bored! I've been on the go, doing things, multitasking all week so far, and now I seem to have lost my energy, or maybe it's just there really isn't ANYTHING left to do. We are leaving between 3 and 4 am tomorrow for that 19 to 20 hour drive to DS17's College.
We pick up the rental car at 5pm today. His stuff is all packed and piled high in the living room.
The good news, is, he came in last night and said "Mom, I'v come to a very responsible decision". My 1st thought was "UH OH", for when he says something like that , you just NEVER know whats going to come out of his mouth next.
But surprisingly, he said "I've decided not to take my big Hockey, and I'm not going to play Hockey this year". WHEW!! That big honkin stinkin bag, doesn't have to come with us!!
But he will take his skates, stick and gloves, to play a friendly game every now and again at a local rink. :) Now that, we can manage!
So without the big Honkin Hockey bag, maybe we can fit a small cooler with FOOD into the car, so we have our own snack and meal supply for much of the trip.
So right now, I think I"m going to go make a nice warm tea while the kids are happily occupied with the toys, and just sit back and relax a bit more.

OH.... I did check my ressie again this morning, Still no room assignment. Any guesses as to when the last of these will be assigned for us? Is there a certain timeline they'll be done by? :)

I have been looking forward to Sept. 1st to be able to say our cruise is "next month".

I second that, I have 3 countdowns 57 Days till we leave for Florida and 37 more days I have to come in to work......58 days till we start cruisin....
