Oct 30 2010 7 Night Western (PART 2)

Get this. We sauntered by the Disney store yesterday as we were back to school shopping at our local mall called Tysons Corner. Of course, my twins wanted to look at the princess costumes. Lo and behold, both of them honed in on a Belle costume with hoop skirt and lots of gems. Not the cheapest Belle costume (there were a couple of options), but the one that was $150 bucks. Ridiculous. Times two....even more ridiculous. When I was their age I went trick or treating dressed as an oatmeal raisin cookie ... large round piece of cardboard with raisin boxes glued onto it and flecks of oatmeal thrown at it.

Just in case anyone here is wondering, I said a loud "NO" to the Disney Store Belle costume. Be prepared to see my family dressed on 10/31 as three Minnies and a Mickey. The females are easy and we already have our costumes ready to be placed in our luggage. The male in the family has no idea....but I plan his costume to be very comfy -- yellow crocs, red sweat pants with two big white buttons, a black t-shirt and of course, the mickey ears attached to a black baseball hat. There is _no_ way he'll agree to wear the big mickey hands or even white gloves. We've been married long enough for me to know what I can, and can't get away with. We will be dining at Palo beforehand so anticipate a quick change into costume after our fine dining experience! And then we'll go fetch our two at the Kids Club, fingers crossed that they won't be too worn out, and we'll see if we can find a Magic Halloween Party.pirate:

My little sister was Mickey Mouse once. Cutest costume. She wore her long sleeve black leotard, black tights, red shorts with the felt buttons sewn on. My Mom made some sort of Batman like cowl for her out of black cloth with Mickey ears attached.

I remember being a Devil Dog once. Brown felt long panels back and front worn over a white sweatsuit. Other costumes were Sandy from Grease, Wonder Woman, Snoopy, Angel with a Devil's Tail - all homemade by my Mom.

My daughter wants to be a cat and my son a dog. I think I should be able to put those costumes together myself with black and brown shirts and pants, some ears, some tails and some makeup whiskers! And I should probably dress myself up as an officer from Animal Control! :)

They are most definately on two different nights! I'm trying to convince my boys to be pirates for Halloween (they don't know about this cruise), as that way I won't have to pack 4 costumes total for the two of them. But NOOOOoooo. They want to be Jedi's for Halloween! I'll look for Jedi costumes or pattersn to make them, AFTER everyone is back to school!

What does your daughter want to be for Halloween?

My daughter is going to Jesse from Toy Story. Once she makes up her mind there is no changing it. The moment the movie ended at the theatre...:lmao:
I know your probably thinking halloween is months away but she live her life from holiday to holiday like most kids.

I had bought her the cowgirl boots from Disneystore .com when the movie first came out as a surprise to wear to the movie( she was already obsessed with being a cowgirl.. and this was the first time we ever went to the movies.) Then when she asked to be Jesse I bought the hat too. However, I refused to pay $40.00 for the costume. We are going to make it!:goodvibes I do not sew but Iam crafty. Also I don't like how all of the costumes I have seen for Jesse are body suits.. this is bathroom nightmare for sure:laughing::laughing:.

Iam going to need a whole garment bag... princess outfits, halloween costume, pirate gear... YIKES!!! Good thing Iam flying Southwest:cheer2:

That's Great that you can sew... This is lost talent these days:) I can't wait to see there costumes!

My son is also 4. I'm hoping he will also meet some other children his age, especially since this would be his first time spending time in the Club.

He is going to LOVE:lovestruc the CLUB!!! Last year was the first time for my daughter and she just turned 3 and I could not get her out of there. We would usually review the activity schedule and let her pick a few things to go and do. I work full-time and would have felt horrible leaving her in there most of the day, since this was the family vacation. However, the 1/2 priced mimosa in the am by the pool were nice. :cool2:It was great to have alone time too!

He will really really like it... :lovestruc My daughter is still talking about "MICKEY SCHOOL"

Thanks for the laugh, can't wait to see what the girls have "cooked up" for me. Three Minnies and a Mickey sounds great.

Sent out my Word FE list to those who requested.

I'd post online but have no idea on how to ?? :rolleyes1 ??

If someone is willing to either tell me how or post for me, I'd be happy to share.

Wow that sounds so cool! I didn't realize MVMCP already starts up when we get back!

The first party is Monday, Nov. 8, so we decided to stay and fly home Tuesday, which was WAY cheaper-it paid for the extra party tix.

Aside from the Brunch, surprisingly I don't recall any mention of any adult get togethers. Usually the beer/wine/martini/tequila tastings get some groups together to attend.....

Wait, I must whine appropriately---I want to go to bruuunnncchhhh....:headache:

Thank you for posting! I am not computer literate enough to do that, I'm sorry. I will happily email the Excel document I have to anyone who wants it! Feel free to email me at lsjones@wi.rr.com with your email address, and I will get it right out to you!

We have done this 2 or 3 times in the past and always love it. The food is really good, expecially the chilled strawberry soup. Cinderella and the Prince come out and have their royal dance between visiting tables. The stars of the evening, however, have got to be the stepsisters and Lady Tremaine. They make a show of being jealous of all the attention that Cinderella is getting and are desperate to find a date of their own. Play along with their attitude and have a blast, Dizney-Cruiser.

Great!! Thanks!! and I love to play along!! One of the funniest moments ever was when I offered Snow White an apple at the Norway Princess breakfast!! She acted all scared and said, "thank you! but I don' eat RED apples anymore!!" hahaha
:rotfl2:

We haven't had dinner there, but I know a lot of people who have. It seems especially popular as a second option when reservations at Cinderella's Castle cannot be had.

We have had breakfast there and it was very good. Except for breakfast the characters are different....Mary Poppins, Alice, Mad Hatter.

Thanks! We have done the breakfast there, I just never realized they had a character dinner too!! I'm looking forward to something new!! We actually chose all new restaurants except Le Cellier (must go there everytime!!) and Goofy's Beach Club breakfast (we are staying there and who could say no to breakfast pizza!) :thumbsup2

Can anyone confirm that Halloween and Pirate night are on two different nights? My daughter wants to bring a halloween costume and a pirate costume. I hope they are not combining this. Just want to double check because usually the pirate party is later in the weekpirate:

I just wanted to let you know that we do have a calendar on the first page - I'm not guaranteeing that DCL will stick to it - but it is our best guess (and if you find an error feel free to blame nenner1!) :rotfl2:

I would LOVE to do the tequila/rita tasting with someone....DH won't go, he hates tequila. Anyone want to play with me??? :teeth:

Very tempting. Depends when it falls and if I get clearance from my girls. My wife doesn't drink hardly at all, maybe one Konk Kooler the whole trip so she wouldn't be interested.

Again depending on when it is, my DW loves rita's along with the other moms cruisin with us. Me I can't drink Tequila since that time I woke up outside the big plate glass of a bar in Hoboken.... and btw for some resaon I had glass all over me...

ps though I might add, I found out later that I was thrown out the window by 2 rutgers football offensive lineman who tore a young ladies shirt off... and me being a nice guy decided to intervene....hmmmmm....

I will pass on tequila, now if you are talking some Johnnie Walker Blue I am in...

FYI in case anyone missed it on the main board, DCL is offering KSF for certain Bahamas and Caribbean cruises in January through early March.

You could probably twist my arm and talk us in to the tequila tasting, and the wine tasting and the beer tasting. Last time we did the martini tasting and them went to the art auction. I still smile when I look at the Pirates of the Caribbean piece we just "Had to have"! FYI - martinis and champagne dont mix well.

Ellen - since we did not connect in April at the Beach Club I think we need to have a cocktail together anyway!:drinking1:drinking1

:rotfl2: I know I have told the story before, but...

Our last cruise was the first one after the last dry dock in '08, and I made one for that cruise. I did sooo much research making that little spreadsheet for everyone. Worked so hard on it, even called DCL multiple times to verify things (as others did too). I was so certain it was correct. And it would have been if DCL didn't change things up on us.

Long story short, they crammed a 3 night cruise in before ours since they decided they would be done with dry dock early (before they realized how much work they needed to do tot he engines and pool decks in DD- the result of that was the poor people on the 3 day cruse had green and brown pools). Dry dock work wan't complete and continued throughout our cruise. Our itnenrary was changed to give the CM's an extended night in Cozumel, which altered our Pirate night and consequently our dining rotations. They made all new rotations just for that cruise. It messed *everything* up.

So there we all were, masses of us in line in RBD to change our rotations up because of course, we all used the info I provided to know which nights to be in Palo and now none of it worked out. A guy a few people up in line had out the spreadsheet as he was talking to the CM and tried to tell the CM he KNEW this info he had was right and that the KTTW rotation was wrong!! The CM said to the guy '"Where did you get that?" LOL I wanted to curl up and die! I was so embarrassed!!!

So anyway if it is wrong it wouldn't be the first time, but not from lack of effort! ;)

I will 100% (no permission required)

I'm hoping to make all of the booze tastings except for the beer (I don't like beer).

That being said - if anyone really likes red wine, you might want to sign up for the wine tasting with me. I can't drink red wine (allergy), so I will be giving those away (but do want to try the white wines in the tasting).

:rotfl2: I know I have told the story before, but...

I too have a story to share . . . and before I get into it let me fill you all in - my age starts with a 4 and has a digit after it - however - you wouldn't have known if you had seen me on my last cruise . . .

I guess I technically need to share that I also have a Jiminy Cricket tattoo on my ankle (as Linda says, "sometimes what happens in Vegas does NOT stay in Vegas"!)

So, I had only seen Jiminy one time - that time I planned to be in WDW for Earth Day (2007) because I was told that Jiminy always comes out on that day! He did, I saw him, it was magical!

So, 2008 we are on the Halloween cruise - we get the Navigator for the next day (which was my birthday) and it says that Jiminy will be in the Atrium! I was thrilled!! So, we planned our breakfast so that we would get to see Jiminy right after breakfast with about 15 minutes to spare!

We get to the line right on schedule and the handler tells me, "I'm sorry this line is closed." I point out that he was supposed to be there for another 15 minutes. She tells me I'm wrong! I got so upset!! (yes now it seem riduculous but at the time I was upset!) So, I went over to Guest Services Desk and explain to the girl what happened and she looks at the Navigator and tells me that I was right - but by now, Jiminy was gone. She takes my name and room number and tells me someone would get back to me.

So, we return to the room and in a matter of minutes the person in charge of characters calls me. She appologized for the incident and asked me to pick a time that would work for me and I would now get a private viewing with Jiminy!! We plan it out and at this time I cried.

So, then, presto chango - they had to switch our days around - now we were not doing Grand Cayman (water too rough to tender) - we were doing Key West instead - and now the days were switched. So, when they switched things up (this was mid day for us so all of our Navigators were void and we waited for the new ones to be printed) -our day at Grand Cayman was now a day at sea and the Day at Sea was now Key West - so - they brought Jiminy out - not scheduled just a surprise - so I got to see him and cancelled the private viewing. The woman kept telling me that I could still keep it and I told her I wasn't really asking for anything that special, I just wanted to see him and was happy with the visit. The next day - I got a nice "birthday gift" from Jiminy - he sent me a b'day card with his picture on it - a b'day pin - and some chocolates :worship:

So, the schedule on the first post can be changed . . .
