Oct 30 2010 7 Night Western (PART 2)

We're all packed up into a cramped car. Well, all of DS17's stuff. They gave me a Malibu, which I'm certain is smaller than an Impala. So DS can't take his tiny little TV, and we can't take even a small cooler of stuff.
The drive home will be SO much better!
I got my son the Dr. Seuss book "Oh The Places You Will Go" as a gift and will give that to him, sometime during the drive, and he can read it to his littlest brother. We are now leaving at 1am :scared1: So I've got to get to bed ASAP (it's just after 7pm now), Have a Fabulous Long Weekend Everyone!!:)

Good luck Judy and Martyn. This must be a hard transition. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers. And do drive safely!

Beth

Be safe Judy! I hope loading the car up went well, and hey if DS wants to hold the mini tv on his lap there's always that option. :goodvibes I hope Tim does well on the way home.

Very tempting. Depends when it falls and if I get clearance from my girls. My wife doesn't drink hardly at all, maybe one Konk Kooler the whole trip so she wouldn't be interested.

YAY! Well, i hope the girls say yes, it sounds like it's going to have a good crew! :thumbsup2

Again depending on when it is, my DW loves rita's along with the other moms cruisin with us. Me I can't drink Tequila since that time I woke up outside the big plate glass of a bar in Hoboken.... and btw for some resaon I had glass all over me...

ps though I might add, I found out later that I was thrown out the window by 2 rutgers football offensive lineman who tore a young ladies shirt off... and me being a nice guy decided to intervene....hmmmmm....

I will pass on tequila, now if you are talking some Johnnie Walker Blue I am in...

Sarge219, we ALL have a ta-kill-ya story, but yours is very impressive (and quite chilvalrous!) princess: I think....:rotfl:) I have one, too, but I'm only sharin' it ....maybe....after the tequila class (who doesn't love drinking lessons?). :rotfl: Happy to have all your moms with us in school! :teacher:

You could probably twist my arm and talk us in to the tequila tasting, and the wine tasting and the beer tasting. Last time we did the martini tasting and them went to the art auction. I still smile when I look at the Pirates of the Caribbean piece we just "Had to have"! FYI - martinis and champagne dont mix well.

Ellen - since we did not connect in April at the Beach Club I think we need to have a cocktail together anyway!:drinking1:drinking1

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: I wonder what piece of art you're gonna have to buy THIS time!! :rotfl2:

I'll be happy to do all and any tastings- I do LOVE to learn!! :teacher: And you're right, we are overdue from a missed cocktail. Looking forward to it!:goodvibes Love your title!:thumbsup2

I will 100% (no permission required)

I'm hoping to make all of the booze tastings except for the beer (I don't like beer).

That being said - if anyone really likes red wine, you might want to sign up for the wine tasting with me. I can't drink red wine (allergy), so I will be giving those away (but do want to try the white wines in the tasting).

Ok- beachbumpirates said, "you had me at tequila".....I hope she doesn't feel I'm robbing her when I tell YOU-

you had ME at hello! :yay:

I guess I'll be seeing you at everything!! :dance3: And do you think they might give you all white if you requested? Or do they say no for some reason. Doesn't seem fair, especially if you're allergic, and it's not just that you don't like it. :confused3

Whilst we are on the subjects of tales to tell and tequila, I will share my last very embarrassing encounter. It was New Years Eve in 2003 I think, and we had some friends over. We were playing some kind of game where you had to give clues to your teamate to guess a famous person within a set time - and if they couldn't get it, you had to down a small shot of tequila....I know I know, I am older and wiser now....

Anyway, the tequila ran out, and despite being a small 5' 3 I am not too bad at handling my drink, so I got complacent when DH asked me to choose the next forfeit shot. In my tequila hazed wisdom, I chose Ouzo. I don't know if you would have heard of it, it is a Greek liquer that tastes of aniseed - very very nice, but also very strong. Anyway, two shots later, the room began spinning....I had the presence of mind to try to get myself to bed, and in fairness I got there....I just managed to whack into two walls and knock a 6 foot live, fully decorated Christmas tree crashing to the floor on the way

Needless to say, I was not the hostess with the mostess that night, but luckily, I did learn my lesson :rolleyes1

OH NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!:scared1: Not OUZO!!!!! I think that stuff may make tequila look like a soft-drink!

You're a crazy gal- can't wait to meet ya!

Actually....can't wait to meet any of you- we are going to have such a great time together, it just can't get here fast enough!!!:cheer2:

Have safe travels.... and I just have to say- in my house we are HUGE DR Seuss fans- that book is, has to be, one of his best- it trancends age, it's a great thing for a newborn or a kid going to college, an amazing gift!:thumbsup2 And you have a fabulous long weekend, too!!:goodvibes

Wishing you safe travels and a great trip taking your son. We sure are all sending much well wishes and lots of hugs to you on this journey. My husband just pointed out to me the other day the fact that we are 7 years away from being empty nesters -where did the time go?

We are getting super excited and so happy to say we leave "Next month"! 58 days and counting!:banana:

Heading to the lake this weekend for some waterskiing fun, after Earl passes.
Great to have a holiday weekend since th 4th fell on a sunday we received no holiday in JuLy :(

Hi Everyone! Just stopping in to say "Hi!" I've been off the board for about 2 weeks just dealing with day-to-day life. DS11 started 6th grade (still grade school for us - next year will be middle school) and due to all his travel this summer, we were doing a lot of last minute shopping for supplies and clothes. I work full time, so it can be interesting trying to fit everything that is needed into the time availalbe :)

I've also been dealing with an overabundance of garden veggies :) DH loves to garden and planted WAY too many tomato plants this year. He knew he was doing it, but he just loves growing them and we have many different varieties - many of them heirloom types. He has been taking about 100 tomatoes per week into his office - they have a factory out back with fairly low-paid (just a little over minimum wage) workers - DH puts them out in their break room and they dissapear within minutes! The weekend before last, we canned 350 tomatoes (25 quart jars). I'm also drowning in peppers (both sweet and hot), cucumbers, and zuccinis. I've been making zuccini bread, giving them to the neighbors and trying to cook meals that use them.

DH is currently building a large stone retaining wall (the old one was treated wood and has rotted out over the last 15 years) so he is spending all his free time out there, leaving me to handle the veggies!

I suspect that our "holiday" weekend will be mostly more of the same. We are at least taking Saturday off and heading out to a music festival for the day. It is about an hour away, but looks like it will be fun. In addition to various musical acts during the day, there are kid's activities and a hot air balloon flyover. We then have tickets to the big concert that evening - Adam Lambert. It is going to be nice to spend a day just relaxing!

Is this the Waterfront festival in Rockford? Just saw this advertised in today's paper and we live in Geneva. We may be close to each other.

Still waterskiing, huh? :goodvibes Hope you have a great time!!!! We are headed to LBI after the boys' sports on Saturday. Enjoy your overdue holiday! :goodvibes

Judy I hope you are on the road and having a great time!!! I can't wait to hear the stories!!!! :thumbsup2

I make a mean zucchini bread! Wish I were closer to get some fresh veggies from you!

Jen, thanks so much for all your work on the lanyards, I'm excited to see them all done!

Aww you're so welcome! :goodvibes I did one final re-check of all my info, cleaned out my PM box, and prepared my list for posting. Felt strange, cause I have nothing else to do but it felt like I should. :rotfl:

Actually....can't wait to meet any of you- we are going to have such a great time together, it just can't get here fast enough!!!:cheer2:

OK..the more I read you all the more tempted I am to join in. ;) I looked on the most recent Navigators and it looks like they are held the afternoons of the sea days: Monday is Martini Tasting and Tequila Tasting and Thursday is Beer Tasting and Tequila/Margarita Tasting. So which one are we going for the full on Te-kill-ya or the watered down in a Margarita version? LMAO. I'm not a huge fan of Tequila myself. I think I can handle the Margarita one but the full on shots of tequila might have a bad ending. I am not known for holding my liquor. :rolleyes1:rotfl2:

Now the Martini tasting is right up my alley. Except for that nasty gin one. Pass me the foo foo drinks anyday!

Just an fyi - on our last cruise - at the Art Auction you got a free margarita . . . and in my opinion. . . free always tastes good!! :thumbsup2

Safe travels to you and your family, Judy!

I ordered iron-on vinyl last night to make t-shirts for Pirate Night. OMG, I'm so excited! Of course, my idea of not having Morgan's name on anything she wears is now out the window :rotfl:

I've always been the same way. I never put my kids names on their clothes or on their backpacks. But for this sort of thing, when they are going to be with me pretty much the entire time and in such a limited environment, I think I'm a little bit more relaxed about it.

Although the t-shirts I am making for them will not have their names on it. That wasn't a decision on my part, just a design choice!

I'm hoping for all (and yes, I realize that two of them are held right after the other).

I also saw that there is a whiskey tasting (?) offered one night. Anyone else up for that?

We are VERY close to each other - I sent you a PM!

Yes, it is the On The Waterfront festival. I've never been to it before, but it looks like fun. The main reason we are going is for the concert tomorrow evening, but I am looking forward to a whole day of not really worrying about any real life stuff - soft of like a very mini vacation! We are meeting some internet friends before the concert (other fans from an online board - sort of like DIS for Adam Lambert fans :upsidedow)

DH has tons (literally!) of retaining wall block being delivered today. It will be in the driveway until he manages to move it all, so I don't think I'm going to be parking in the garage for a while. I think he told me they weigh about 80 lbs each... Sure am glad it isn't winter! ;)

Wah :sad1: I checked in online from work today and High Tea was available at Palo! Then I couldn't get it and got locked out...by the time I came back it was gone. :sad1:
