Obsession...I mean, planning is coming along...need to find a hotel in Vancouver still

I suggest CALLING last minute travel. We got Delta Vancouver Suites (within walking distance of the port) for $182 (tax included). This is a Marriott property, their website has the same room for $405. I feel like we got a pretty sweet deal. For some reason calling seems to yield much better results than going to last minute travels web site.

You can tell them the area you are looking for and what you want to pay.

I would stay in Richmond. Most of the Hotels offer a airport shuttle and they will be significantly less expensive. Then take the Canada Line (Subway). The last stop is Canada Place Cruise Terminal
Depends....
  • if you are arriving at night with no time for sightseeing.... the Airport suburbs offer value.... especially compared to staying at hotels adjacent to the cruise terminal.
  • shuttle service is inconsistent with frequency depending on the hotel. Contact the hotel for details.
  • none of the airport hotel shuttles will not take to the cruise terminal. Budget $40 to $50 for the cab trip.
  • my fav is the Raddison Vancouver Airport.
    • Great rates compared to the nearby competition

    • there's a subway station across the street that can have you downtown in 20 minutes for $4!
    • Closer to Storybrooke than downtown hotels
    • free parking for your rental car
    • If you want a quick detour to Orient while in Vancouver.... lots of Asian restaurant choices in the area.

We stayed just down the road at Blue Horizon. That's a good area. There's a London Drugs if you need anything last minute. (I realized I didn't pack my phone charger and grabbed one there!) Also, there's a post office in the Samsonite store just down the block if you need to mail a postcard.

There's a restaurant right across the street from the Tropicana called Cora that we ate breakfast at one morning and it was really good. Lots of fruits and tons of options.

Cabs from Robson to the cruise terminal were around $7-9, depending on traffic.

The shuttle to Capilano picks up in front of Blue Horizon if you're doing that.

There's also a Timmy's right down the block if that's your bag. The donuts are good. Skip the coffee. ;)

We stayed at the Pinnacle Harbourfront and loved it. Short walk to the cruise terminal and was in good proximity to many places to eat.

I hadn't thought about coffee. Hopefully there's a Starbucks around.

Have you thought about Airbnb? We stayed in one before our cruise a couple of years ago.

None of them *will* take you there?
Let me know if you find a Vancouver airport hotel offering shuttles to downtown.

In general.... hotel shuttles are very busy going between the hotel and the airport. Going to downtown is a significant trip... especially fighting through traffic congestion. As a result...
  • cabs are your best choice. In general the $50 cab is still cheaper than staying at hotels adjacent to the cruise terminal.
  • some hotels are located near the Canada Line. In 20 minutes for $4, it will get you 3 blocks from the cruise terminal. I like the Raddison Vancouver Airports rates and they have a subway station across the street.
  • Another option would be a service like Aerocar.... but it will cost more than the cab.

The PP was questioning your statement because you have a typo (she was confirming that it was a typo). You said (bolding is mine):

none of the airport hotel shuttles will not take to the cruise terminal. Budget $40 to $50 for the cab trip.

Which would mean that all of the hotel shuttles would take you to the cruise terminal. Based on the context of the rest of your post (and common sense), it would appear that you did not mean to include the "not" - which the PP was confirming.

Never heard of either of those. I am a diehard starbucks fan. Because I don't like coffee and they are the only ones who carry the ONLY tea I like. Kind of a pain, but it is what it is.

I hadn't either until I went to Vancouver. :) When in Vancouver, do as Vancouverites do (OK so a lot of them go to Starbucks, LOL). And while googling to remember the name Waves I found a list of "top 10 espresso places in Vancouver" that had ten places I have never heard of and look fabulous.

Espresso is worse than coffee. Can't stand either of them. Wish I did, though. It would make things so much easier.
