Nah, I like talking with Bet...She usually does a good job of solidifying my beliefs. :teeth:

And I can't start drinkin' 'till a little closer to the 7:30 tipoff when WVU whoops up on Xavier. ;)

No, No, I had this conversation at 11:45 with a friend who needed a glass of wine, I said it was just fine since she could have it at lunch, I forgot to ask her if she was drinking pinot grigio however.... I should know that before posting, but it's okay, a glass of wine for the Quote of the day :drinking1

Did anyone notice Pelosi responded to what equates to the threatening letter she received? The good thing is, these people have only contributed 24 million over 10 years, compared to what we've donated this election cycle, it's a drop in the bucket & Pelosi knows it.

New News:

Gallup poll today shows Obama leading 48%-44%

And in other "new news", from Rasmussen:

Looking ahead to the General Election in November, John McCain continues to lead both potential Democratic opponents. McCain leads Barack Obama 51% to 41% and Hillary Clinton 51% to 41% (see recent daily results). McCain is now viewed favorably by 56% of voters nationwide and unfavorably by 41%. Obama’s reviews are 46% favorable and 52% unfavorable. For Clinton, those numbers are 44% favorable, 54% unfavorable

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: You make a very good point :lmao:

On an aside, anyone who watched his speech this morning, he again said those family's making less than 75K per year would not see an increase in thier taxes, rather they would see a 1K credit. He has said this on numerous occasions, but why is it I see posts that say "well I make 50K and my taxes will go up 4K", I've seen it many times now, and I just don't get it, how many times does he have to say the SAME thing, write the same thing, yet people just go by what somebody else has told them... it's a little annoying...

I would welcome the $1000 credit! Yet another reason I like the man! :thumbsup2 (And it is sad to say that $60,000 is a decent living for those of us left in this area. )

Stupid me. I married a professional begger (non-profit financial development). No perks whatsoever.

:teeth:

I wouldn't worry too much about any numbers involving McCain at this point, Bet. Once he starts campaigning, you'll start seeing those numbers drop down to more reasonable levels. I can't wait to see him try to peddle "free trade" in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Michigan!!! :lmao:

And wait til he has to go up against Obama on the economy! In case you missed it, Obama gave a major speech on the economy this morning in New York.

The numbers have been trending the wrong way (for you) for the last month or so. And when is that campaign against McCain going to start? The way things are going, it'll be August at the earliest.

I didn't miss the speech (although I didn't see it, I read it). It's very short on details, especially about the new regulatory scheme he'd put in place. He gives the six principles that he thinks are necessary for reform, but no specifics on the actual reform.

And I did notice he doesn't dare call his homeowner bailout a "bailout". Probably because most voters are opposed to that. This particular voter, who also has past experience as a banker and mortgage lender wants to know if Obama is going to address the not insignificant role that CRA has played in this mess, or is he instead only going to single out the greedy mortgage brokers?

Enjoy the numbers while you've got 'em is all I can say. I'm not concerned in the least with Obama's chances vs. McCain...

I do though find it fascinating that you Righties expect explicit details from every Obama press conference/stump speech and assume that all of his supporters hang on and agree with every word that falls from Barack's lips ala what we've all come to expect in Bushworld. Wonder when the right's going to start moving in lockstep with the Republican party's new standard bearer?

I'm right there with you. I have no doubt in my mind at all that Obama will wipe the floor with McCain. It won't even be close.

As for the details...it's fascinating how detail oriented they are now...not so much for the past 8 years, but now they want to see every little detail of every proposal, suggestion, or solution offered. :lmao:

After we've chosen our candidate. As tensions have increased between the Clinton and Obama supporters, I don't think it's at all unexpected that McCain's numbers would climb. I wouldn't say I'd vote for Clinton at this point.

Let's see where we are when it's a 1 democrat against 1 republican.

What happened to all the indignant Clinton supporters on the new Wright thread after I posted what Hillary's minister had to say on the reverand's words? Someone ring a dinner bell or something? :confused3

Dang, you guys have been chatty today!! I've got 9 pages to catch up on!!

Next time, warn a girl before y'all get chatty...then I'll know to stay home! :rotfl:

I'm not going to that thread, what did he say??

I need to catch up on that little diddy. Some of them were foaming at the mouth at the last Wright threads.

"The Reverend Jeremiah Wright is an outstanding church leader
whom I have heard speak a number of times. He has served for
decades as a profound voice for justice and inclusion in our society.
He has been a vocal critic of the racism, sexism and homophobia
which still tarnish the American dream. To evaluate his dynamic
ministry on the basis of two or three sound bites does a grave
injustice to Dr. Wright, the members of his congregation, and the
African-American church which has been the spiritual refuge of a
people that has suffered from discrimination, disadvantage, and
violence. Dr. Wright, a member of an integrated denomination, has
been an agent of racial reconciliation while proclaiming perceptions
and truths uncomfortable for some white people to hear. Those of us
who are white Americans would do well to listen carefully to Dr.
Wright rather than to use a few of his quotes to polarize. This is a
critical time in America's history as we seek to repent of our racism.
No matter which candidates prevail, let us use this time to listen again
to one another and not to distort one another's truth."

That's the problem with these Christian ministers...they're so damn forgiving!! :teeth:

OMG did any of you guys see Hardball tonight?

They were showing a clip of Hillary being interviewed by Greta on Fox News, and she basically said that if the Michigan and Florida delegates weren't seated she would want a credentials fight at the convention.

I really do believe that she is instituting the "Tonya Harding - scorched earth" policy.

It makes me sick.

Round one has already started.

Clinton camp challenges delegates for Texas county Democratic caucuses
" Just before Wednesday’s deadline to file complaints before the county convention credentials committee, Clinton campaign officials delivered a large packet of challenges.

"There are numerous challenges," said Dallas County District Clerk Gary Fitzsimmons, who is temporary chairman of the District 23 credentials committee. The district went solidly for Mr. Obama in the primary, and there’s a question over whether Mrs. Clinton will reach the 15 percent threshold needed to receive delegates.

The committee meets Thursday night to deal with minor challenges. The rest will be handled on Saturday, the day of the county conventions."

I think she just sunk her battleship. No way will the party let this go. I bet we have more big endorsements for O coming.

It's so pathetic that she has to go to Faux in order to find a sympathic ear that won't call her on her ****.
