Some pics I took of the terminal and down the Hudson.......

From the Jersey side looking down toward the Verazzano Narrows Bridge (which the ships pass under).

Beautiful pictures. Thanks for sharing them. The first two look like postcards of the NYC skyline!

Thanks for all of the information on the plays! I can't wait to go next year! I'll have to keep an eye out for any deals so I can start finding tickets.

After seeing the new 9/11 memorial, I also want to visit ground zero and pay my respects. I read that you have to order tickets in advance in order to be able to see the memorial.

We did The Lion King, Mary Poppins and The Little Mermaid last time we were in NYC. I think we'll do Mary Poppins and Lion King again, maybe Wicked if I can talk my DD(6) into it. We're also going to American Girl Place!

Wicked is fantastic. I've seen it twice.

The American Girl Store is a madhouse.... But I'm sure it's a thrill to a 6 year old girl. If you can... try to get reservations to the dinner that they have there. The meal is mediocre at best... but it's a real experience for any fan of American Girl.

Thanks for the pics they are great! We will be parking in the port for our DCL 8 day cruise can any one tell me if the port is a safe place to keep your car that long and also does any one know the price per day to park in the port?

What day does the Magic arrive in NYC? Would love to be there to see her arrive!!:):thumbsup2

looked briefly at the website. Okay $3200 for a 2 night stay for a family of five. That seems a little insane to me plus 2 nights isn't going to cut it-at least not for that price!

We were going to do the 2 day but the prices for those were insanely expensive. We actually switched our booking on the Fantasy to the Magic when the itinerary was announced. Not only do we get one extra day on the ship, but we don't have to pay airfare and at the time we switched it cost us a few hundred $'s less for the NY cruise than our Eastern on the Fantasy. From what I'm hearing now that's not necessarily the case any more.

As far as too many sea days, I've been on the Magic 2x and the Wonder once and on each cruise there were at the most 2 sea days, which I felt was never enough to do all the things I intended. Hopefully we'll get to do everything on this one.

We did the Eastern in March and loved our 3 at-sea days. The fact that the NYC-Bahama's has 4 at-sea days was one of the selling points for us. The days on the ship are so much fun. You can totally relax or be busy doing activities. A little bit of something for everyone.

Port parking is $30 per day and is rooftop parking (you park on top of the terminal...it is not covered. You can see what the parking looks like at this link.

Also, for anyone who wants to know more about the NY cruises and planning of them....there is quite a lengthy thread with lots of info on it that you may want to subscribe to....

I need a hotel that is going to be near the port. We also plan to to visit the the WTC site and the Statue of Liberty. I think I have found one. Not knowing much about the city is the Marriott Downtown at
85 West Street at Albany Street
New York, New York 10006 USA

Is this a good location? Thanks. I'll take any suggestions.

Yes, it's a good location for WTC site, Statue of Liberty, Wall Street, Stock Exchange, South Street Seaport, etc. There is a South Street Seaport TKTS Discount Booth that sells tickets for theater performances (Broadway & off Broadway) to evening performances on the day of the performance, and matinee tickets the day before.

There is a free downtown shuttle bus, the Downtown Connection. The cab ride from the hotel to the port is about 20 minutes, and costs about $15 -20.

If you want to visit the WTC memorial you'll need to order your tickets online early! We tried to get two for next month, and the first available were for January!

( I am from NY) Another good hotel is the staybridge suites in Times square, Great hotel. Clean and well priced. Although NOT down town its mid town. The marriott is also a good option as well as the Hilton.

We booked thru DCL and added a few days before the cruise.
We have the Marriot... looks nice.

Next q is.... how much are the tickets for the WTC tour?? and a web site for the tickets... please:love:

Thanks in advanced:thumbsup2

Did you get any sort of a discount booking your hotel through DCL?

I am going to merge the two threads so the WTC site info and all other info is in one thread.

I know we have to be onboard by 4:00, but does anyone know when the ship leaves port? I was wondering because of choosing dining seatings... Or does everyone watch the ship leave port, and the dining rooms work around it?

Best bet is to contact the port directly and see what time they are accepting luggage.....and please post if you do get an answer. Here is the link to port. It also has a ton of info on NYC and some photos so is a nice site to check out.

The NY Cruise Terminal opens for passengers at 9:00 a.m. Sorry, I don't know when they start accepting luggage.
