NYC CRUISES PLANNING/INFO ThREAD!

Can any TA's on this tread let us know if and when Disney talks about transfers to/from the ship via the train station in Newark, or NYC.
I was thinking of also just taking NJ Transit to Newark Airport, then getting a ship tranfer bus to the port, but we will not have any flight numbers to
cross reference. We don't have anyone to drive us to the NYC port from
Central NJ. Two seniors who don't mind taking the train with luggage.
We are on the August 12, 2012 cruise.

You're joking... there's a Bedbug registry now?

No joke.... http://bedbugregistry.com/

It's just reports from people who have stayed at the hotels, so how reliable it is, I'm not sure. However, it's interesting to see how many reports a hotel has.

Looks like they want to extend it to cruise ships too... I was wondering about that. For instance, you stay at a hotel that has bedbugs the night before your cruise, they get in your luggage, and then on the ship?

Why would you go to EWR? Why not take a NJT train to Penn Station and take a cab from there? Either that, or call State Shuttle...

Re: bedbugs... (sorry OT)

My wife's office just reported an infestation on her floor ... My first statement to her was "who do we submit the extermination expense to?" ... but they assured us that we don't have anything to worry over.... ya right.

I am sure it will posted as soon as ANYONE find out. It will be listed on the DCL website eventually and then will be posted here.

Be careful with New Jersey Transit, there is a Penn Station Newark and a Penn Station New York

some may want to check the ferry - we don't know what pier the ship is going to be dockiing in - but the ferry terminal may be a place to park a car for the week -

Does anyone know if the $30 parking rate is per day or per night? For the 8nt/9day cruise out of NYC are we paying $240 or $270?

We are on a NYC cruise next year as well. I think we will fly up a couple of days early to catch some shows and see the sights before heading to the terminal. Is there a good site that will show the plays we could see and how early can you get tickets to the shows? Is it cheaper to get the tickets early, or buy them on the day of the performance?

This website provides information about discounted tickets for shows:

TKTS & Theatremania are both great. You can also go on Playbill.com to get discounted seats. Good luck & have fun. :)

The NY Waterway terminal at Port Imperial (Weehawken/West New York, NJ)
offers overnight parking for $10 per night. The current price for a round trip adult ticket for the ferry is $18 and $12 for children ages 6-11. Plus cab fare from the ferry terminal in NY to the cruise terminal.

I think your best way to find a show is to go to ticketmaster.com. Search Broadway to find all shows at the time you will be in NYC. Then when you find one you want to see, search generally for discount/promotion codes for that show. I just did this and got Addams Family front row tix for $79 each!
Also DVC members can often score discounts on the Disney shows, sometimes as good as buy 1 get 1 free.
Hope this helps!
