NY Doorway to Dreams

Sad to hear this happen, I guess I am not suprised since they closed Chicago down.

I am very upset about the closing. I am a DVC member because of an open house they had, I was skeptical about it but the people there were not preasuring us, but talked to us about our Disney travels, and then we bought.
We actually were a referral from another member, so we were given their out-of-state guide. Before we went on our first DVC trip, we ran into some health problems, and called our guide for help. The guide advised us to rent a car or taxi to get needed suppies we couldn't fly with. We told her that was imposible to do. We were all set to cancel the trip and rethink DVC. We went to the NY DTD and Kim, David, and the rest of the crew spent a great deal of time making calls, doing research and found a way to get everything delivered to the resort, for the trip. The trip was saved.
We went home and called MS and got switched to Kim as our guide. She aleays calls us on our trips to see how we're doing, and accually wants to hear about our trips upon return.
We go to the Mall often and stop by the Doorway just to say hello, often seeing David, Jim, or Marykate out front, we talk about each others trips, exchange tips, just talk Disney. We ask for Kim, she always makes time to say hello and talk.
We will greatly miss the Doorway to Dreams family we have "at Home". It won't be the same without that close relationship.

Yep, no doubt about it, they are great people there. Such a shame to see it go.

The place was doomed from the start, poor advertising, poor management, and poor location killed it.

There was a huge billboard for it on the garage. But I just don't see how they could get enough foot traffic to have enough people buying to support it.

Apparently none of the remote locations were profitable and they were closed.

Disney also let go all of the contracted real estate agents working in other States.
