Two sleeps until we leave to spend the week here for our first time. So excited.

Since we are now in the "online checkin available" phase, its fun to speculate on where the room could be and the view it has. We are Jambo DVC stardard view studio. Based on what I have found, I have a pretty good idea of where we will be. Mostly around the pool - Giraffe or Zebra Trail - maybe a reclassified savannah view. Either way it helps pass the time by looking at photos, maps and aerial photos of where the room could be!

Any advice would be helpful for a request to make (I realize may not get it, but its fun to ask) -

We are torn on where we want to be. On one hand, being in a room off the lobby would be nice and close to everything. On the other, we may have that nasty view of the Boma roof and then pool beyond. Then there are the first few rooms on the Giraffe Trail that while they overlook the pool, they have another (maybe not so bad) roof view. Is all of the giraffe trail a value view? I thought it was parking lot side only and the pool side was standard view? Also, can you exit from the giraffe trail and get to the pool / busses without going through the lobby? If so, that makes that trail more desirable.

I dont necessarily have a problem with this view on the Giraffe Trail as long as we could just hop down the setps to an exit right at the buses.

Coming to AKL in Oct..so excited!! I have a pool view room booked, but considering a Savanna view. If I did change, what's a good request to put in?

I too was apprehensive about where we were going to end up, but honestly I don't think we could've had a better room than what we had..We were in RM 5012 to the right pool view. Yes to our left we did see the roof for boma but I was more concerned with our pool view to worry about it. Our room was in the 1st bldg of 2 that are to the right.3 doors from the connecting part that has the windows to look out towards the pool. In this area , there is an elevator and stairwell. If you take it from 5 th floor to 1 st floor you can enter right out to the pool, or go to the Mara QS. If you took it to the 3rd or 2nd floor then u can just go to the stairwell and either go up or down a1/2 flight then exit REAL close to the bus stop. This was perfect for us.... also not too far from our room area , going the opposite way towards lobby is the DVC laundry room.

Now if you aren't DVC or in a villa and are on 2 and or 3 rd or 4 th. Then u won't really need the elevator to get to the bus stop exit door. You can just use the stairwell. I'd definitely stay of request this area in a heartbeat. HTH.

Was just there last week. And I like u was skeptical about where to be placed.

We were set up with room 5012 which is the 1st of 2 bldgs to the right. 3 doors before the 2 bldgs meet. At this spot there are windows that you can look out towards the pool. Also this is where the elevators and the stairwell s are. What we did being on the 5 th floor, was basically walk maybe 30 steps to the elevator and tame it down to the first floor, if we wanted to go out to the pool or the Mara. Or take it to the 3rd or 2 and floor , get out go into the stairwell and either go up or down a 1/2 flight of stairs and out an exit door in the front of the bldg. This brought us real close to the. Is stops.

We are in room 5328, which is a bit more than halfway down Kudu trail. We have a view of the sunset savanna. I booked it as standard view, but noted a request for savanna. There is a "people pen" directly under our balcony, but we can see the savanna great. Tons of animals have been visible. We tend to see the zebras earlier in the day and the giraffes later on.

My advice would be to request Giraffe Trail. For pool views on Zebra Trail - the 2nd pod (rooms starting with X424) are good pool views.

In December 2006, we had 2 pool view rooms, 3416 and 3422, which are in the first pod off the lobby, Zebra Trail. 3416 was a full-on restaurant roof view! 3422 was the last room in the first pod and was a nice pool view.

I checked my list to make sure I had the room numbers and descriptions correct! (I am the compulsive list-keeper!! )

...not necessarily a dvc room, but we were in room 3470 and we were directly just to the left of the pool bar (if you are looking at it)...our room had a great pool view....

Sounds like a lot of fun. enjoy! Feel free to make us jealous by posting a few pics of the view Hows the walk to the busses and such? Did you do online checkin and make the request for savannah view on the site or ask during regular checkin?
