Nudity in Gym Locker Rooms.

I see now that there is only one proper opinion in this thread. Forgive me for thinking differently.

Come on now. I was just making light of something. If you are okay walking around nude at the gym then go crazy. I would just prefer if you didn't have a conversation with me while doing so.

You have problems looking at someone's face when you have a conversation?:confused3

Okay- so if I decided to show you my episiotomy scars you would be good with that? I promise to sit on a towel.:rotfl2:

Just what are you doing in the locker room that would cause you to expose your episiotomy scars? :scared:

This thread makes me want to join an gym just so I can walk around in the locker room naked. ;)

Seriously, have you ever been in a Ladies Locker room or gym?
In the very early AM , when I go, all the ladies are in a rush to do their workout, shower, do the hair and makeup & get out of there to go to work, no one pays attention to the length of time anyone is undressed, nude or partially nude.

I have been to the gym. I have also had the joy of a woman at a restaurant open the stall door while she was using the bathroom to have a conversation with me but that's a whole nother thread.:scared1: The point I was making is that there is almost always someone who treats the locker room like their personal dressing room. They strut around etc. No I am not gawking but sometimes when someone is all but doing cartwheels it is hard not to notice them. I am not talking about people who go about their business. I am talking about the ones who pose in the mirrors etc. or try to do things to make people uncomfortable.

BTW- Fitswimmer I am glad you are cancer free.princess:

I don't have any problem looking at their face. I would just prefer it if you had clothes on.

I must be really strange because I really have no issue either way. Of course, I've never really noticed anyone really "strutting" around. We're all pretty busy getting ready like the PP said. We're all talking while we get ready, so I'm sure I've talked to naked people and they've talked to me while I'm naked-but it really doesn't register. We've all been together there for so long, we're very comfortable. And, as I said, I'm not really interested in naked women's bodies so I guess that's why it doesn't register.

Maybe that is it. You know the women since you go all the time. It's probably just my own hangup. I am shy about stuff like that. I am not interested in women's bodies, I just feel uncomfortable talking to someone I don't know who is buck naked. Heck I don't want to be buck naked in front of strangers either!:scared1:

Seriously- I am not telling you to cover up because I have kids with me. (I don't take them to the gym btw) I am telling you to cover up because this is not your personal bathroom and home. Others do not want to see you parading around nude. Change your clothes like a normal person and be on your way. If you want to check for an ingrown hair on your bikini line- do it at home!!!! Do not put your leg up on the bench giving me the same view as your gyno!!!!:scared1: There is no need for anyone to lounge around nude in a public place and a locker room is a public place - meaning it is not your own home. I mean if a friend stops over your house and you need a quick shower do you strip down and strut your stuff while making coffee? Of course not! So why do think I need to be subjected to having conversations with you while you perform every task on the planet while nude?[/quote]

1. Why are you looking?

2. Why are you speaing with them if it bothers you that much?

Well I am not looking at anyone but if you are right next to me it is hard to not see.
Second- I don't talk to anyone. I keep to myself. I do however have some sort of magnet where others like to speak to me. I am not rude. I'm not going to just ignore you if you are talking to me.

:lmao: :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

A woman after my own heart...

When I hear... "at home I do this and this and ...and... and.. nude..." all I can think is, well, when you are in a public locker/changing area, you are not at home... in the comfort and privacy of your own quarters. I find no valid reasoning or analogy here whatsoever.

I might sing like a banshee in my shower at home... Does that make it appropriate to subject everyone else in a public locker room to such a horrendous and unavoidable experience?

A changing room is just exactly that... a changing room, a room to change.. not a room to remove your clothing and revel in your nakedness.

We are not in Europe where entire extended families live in small flats and where there have often been limited small unisex restrooms, if any at all... It is indeed a separate situation and a separate standard.

So, now, as always expected, we have labels like shame and prude thrown around. Well, that doesn't phase me one bit, I have no shame regarding the human body, just a little modesty and respect. So, words like that just fly right over my head. Non-applicable...

If these people who lounge about in the nude bother you and as you say, this is a change room to simply change your clothes; why are you in the room so long?

I agree with you Mouse House Mama. I don't feel comfortable having conversations with people while I am naked. I also prefer not to be around woman that want to have conversations with me while they are naked. Maybe I am just modest, but it would make me feel uncomfortable. I guess I'm glad I don't belong to a gym.

Oh please!:lmao:

I walk, nude from the bench by the showers (where I have placed my towels) to the whirlpool, which is about 20 feet away , in the ladies Locker room/spa at my health club. THis whirlpool is in a glassed area along with 8 showers and the sauna room.

This whirlpool can seat about 20 women. I actually sit in it -

nude!!!:scared1:

I then get out of it and walk-NUDE_ back to the shower.

I need to time myself to see how long that takes me.

But as I said before-noone under 14 is allowed in our locker area.

Wow, hut tubs, glassed in areas... All of this money and space devoted to people who enjoy spending time hanging out without anything on their body whatsoever... And, no mention of any private areas for those who may wish... And, hey, all for adults only.

This doesn't sound like just a changing area for a gym... More like a mini-nudist gathering...

Sorry, but I think you just made our point about some gyms today, exhibitionism, and nudists.

I'll be strange with you, Fitswimmer. I grew up in a house that was very modest. I vowed to not live in that kind of house as an adult. I don't see the big deal about women being naked in a locker room, or in a sauna, or in a whirlpool. I don't get how nudism in a locker room setup especially for that purpose by putting in the whirlpool and sauna makes any point about exhibitionism. :confused3

We went with my parents to Punta Cana 2 years ago and we took our kids. The only person offended by the topless beach was my mother. (The one who setup the rules about a modest household when I was growing up.) I had to remind her that just because our culture doesn't actively embrace topless beaches, it doesn't make it wrong for other cultures to be comfortable with it. She thought all the women were prancing around for my father's benefit. :rotfl:

I used to think that nude or topless beaches were fine as long as an alternative was set up for those who preferred that people cover up. It's fine to say that people shouldn't look but people will see unless they sit there with their eyes closed.

Maybe in fairness, two locker rooms would be better? One could be for nudies and one for those who are less comfortable with baring it all. It would be costly though particularly since we also need locker rooms for families, kids and men too I suppose. ;)

I'd recommend you don't ever visit Europe, then.
