Could this come into play?

I don't think Disney families care if their kids miss school. We certainly never did.
I didn't either. But I have no more skin in that game. But I have read where now that schools are starting to really crack down on parents doing such. They want allll thier dollars they are eligible for. But that was one of our best decisions in our life, taking our kids out of school for Disney!

Well in the end they cant do anything about it. You can legally miss a certain number per semester. I could miss 14.5 in high school. We homeschooled and partially for this purpose so we had complete control. They went to school in high school but we just did their homework lists before we left.

Ok, well I hope your right and I'm overthinking. 👍
You are overthinking. This is what happens when you only want to sail on one cruise line. If you open yourself up to any cruise line on any date you will find the price you are looking for and it may even end up being on Disney.

We never cared. We knew they would learn way more on vacation than in the classroom. compulsory learning is just in place to stifle dissent.
I agree, but if you put your kids in the system then you have to play by their rules. A lot of families are opting out the schools system( around 4 million} that's why you see lots of kids on offseason cruises...in addition to the kids that are in school and pulled out by parents.

We have always been willing to pull but HS is much tougher in terms of extra curricular activities, sports, band, etc. That said, my daughter is in Disney now with the band and it is very light on “academics” but with you also have the principal and assistant principal on the trip, I guess you get some flexibility. lol

Located in the Midwest. We have cruised nearly every single year with Disney, about to book our 15th. Now that my son is in high school, we want to take one final cruise before he turns 18 so he can experience Vibe one more time. He has made the greatest lifelong friends in that club! So between the end of baseball season and school starting, we have a 5 day window. It is not an option to miss any days of high school for a vacation. If the school finds out you are on vacation, your student will receive a zero for that day’s work. This is a no tolerance policy for our private school. Miss any of baseball season, he may not start. So it’s going to be interesting finding dates for this trip.

Our schools are pushing ISAs. The HS VP said we couldn't do more than 15 days tho in the year. And the states truancy laws is 10% unexcused days which means we could potentially miss approx 18 school days before getting into any real trouble. But ISAs afaik count as an instructional day. It's not so hard to miss academics, much harder to miss on extra curriculars. The elementary school's hw packet was the easiest by far however, It's hard to justify going on vacation when so much of the time is having to be spent on school work. Much rather take the kids when they could fully enjoy every day if finances allow.
