Nudity in Gym Locker Rooms.

I have not read every page of this thread but I saw it mentioned back on the first page that there are some locker rooms that don't allow children of the opposite sex over age 3. Would you send your 4 yr old son through the male locker room alone? I'm trying to imagine our YMCA having this policy and the locker rooms are large and winding. I have actually missed a turn and ended up in the bathroom section rather than heading toward the pool. I don't think a 4 yr old could navigate this setup and would end up lost and crying. I know my bil has said he won't take his daughter to the YMCA anymore without his wife because he can't make it thru the locker room w/o her seeing several naked men standing around.

Most of the ones that have that policy have separate family changing rooms. Really most (newer) places now a days does and if your gym doesn't and you have a problem with it make a suggestion. :thumbsup2

I really think you need to do a hidden camera investigation and post it on youtube. Nobody here believes you, especially the guys.

HELLO!?!?!? Read the above ^^^^^:lmao: :rotfl2:

This is just so hilarious to me. It's a locker room!! There is a reason there are showers! If you dont like it, bypass the locker room and go home to change/shower.

GEEZ.

Pretty soon ya'll are going to start complaining when you have to see someone elses feet under the stall next to you when you're making a deuce.

I have no problem with naked people in a locker room, when there are no changing rooms available. However, I believe the OP's gym has plenty of changing rooms. I can't imagine why someone would choose to change in the middle of a public room when there are empty changing rooms, especially when there are children around.

Probably because they see nothing wrong with being nude in a locker room.

Isn't a locker room there for people to shower and change, things that require being naked? They're not prancing around the streets in order to corrupt your kids! :lmao: It's a LOCKER ROOM for God's sake, the room that was built for the exact purpose that people are complaining about. If you don't want to deal with what goes on in a locker room then bring a pair of shorts and a cover-up to wear over your bathing suit on the way home and then change at home. :thumbsup2

I guess it depends on the kid and the locker room. As I said, I managed to raise three boys and never took them in to see naked women. I worked around it. It wasn't even a big deal.

In the privacy of one's bathroom I can understand. In public? Not so much.

I agree with Dawn. No one wants to see that. Yuck. I've got to say whenever I see someone buck naked in the locker room, I am so disgusted. And I'm not the only one who feels that way. If I was about to go to lunch, forget it. Appetite gone for about 3 hours.

Seeing a naked person makes you physically ill?????

I'll confess, that I do not understand what people find so distasteful or disgusting about a naked person.

The average person, and the type who happens to want to be nude in the locker room, yes. Kind of like the nude beach phenomenon. The type of people who go to nude beaches are NOT the type who should be seen in public naked. I think you know what I mean. :rolleyes1

Why are you staring at them anyway? Go about your own business, do what you've got to do... get in and get out. Simple as that!

I'd recommend you don't ever visit Europe, then.
I'm well aware that Europe is different and I also have lived there. But we're not talking about Europe so what goes on there is irrelevant IMO.

I don't think that it's a problem that people are naked in a locker room. I got the impression that some people actually lounge around in that state for an extended period of time and also that some people are uncomfortable with young boys seeing this. It's not a black and white issue.

Me, personally, I'm good at blanking out people around me wherever I am so I don't much care. I can understand that some people are more modest and have different comfort levels though.

What exactly do you expect to see in a locker room? :confused3

I think Dawn could probably have lunch after seeing naked people. :)

Some folks have "stronger stomachs" than others. There isn't too much you could do to make a nurses, cops or military guys lose their appetite. If Dawn is anything like me, she could eat lunch while watching an autopsy. And ask questions between bites.

Locker rooms were created for the sole purpose of having a place to be naked without being around members of the opposite sex. If you have a weak stomach, you should probably stay out of the locker room. The little old ladies just do not care, God love them.

I would guess that those who don;t freak out seeing another person naked might have a healthier ,more interesting sex life.
That's just a guess, though.;)

Not all guesses are correct.

Not the initial incision though. I could NEVER stand the initial incision, even in the OR. I used to avert my eyes so I only got a glance. Once that initial incision was over, pass me a sandwich! :rotfl:

I work in an adult gym-no kids under 5 of the opposite sex. There's no reason for them to be in there because it's not a facility for kids-they stay in the kids area. I also worked at a Y that had a preschool attached. The Y divided the ladies locker room into the kid/family side and the Ladies side with a shower curtain. Personally once my son was 5 he went into the men's locker room by himself to change. If he was too pokey I sent a staff member in there to break up the party. IMO any child over the age of 5 should be able to dress themselves in their gender specific locker room.
