Sigh....our vacation is almost over. We just finished packing up and we'll be getting picked up for the airport ride at 9 tomorrow morning. This week has just flown by....
Today was a low-key day. DS had a bit of a problem this morning so we stayed in to watch Pokemon and didn't leave the room until after 10:30. We took the bus to Downtown Disney. DH took the kids to McDonald's and the lego store while I got to do some shopping - ALONE! I didn't do too much damage. I also went to the Earl of Sandwich. I had the original which is roast beef, swiss and horseradish. I was not impressed. I also didn't expect it to be hot. DH had some and he didn't like it either. Long line and not great - it was a disappointment since I was hoping for something I could eat there instead of McD's. Oh well...
Back to the room for a rest. We were going to go swimming but it was hot and the pool was crowded. The kids had been in the sun a lot and we really wanted them to have a rest the last day.
Off to EPCOT. We had a ps for The Garden Grill for dinner but decided not to go. Instead DH & I got fish and chips in the UK. I'm not a big fan of these but they were close and I wasn't real hungry.
The flower and garden festival is going on and it's quite nice. I had my eye on some vertical plant holders so I stopped tonight and ordered two of them - Disney will ship them out. I'm thinking of filling them with strawberries and hanging them from our shed.
On to Ice Station Cool. DH likes to hang out by the machines and try to talk people into trying Beverly and then watching their reactions - really, he does that!
Tonight there were lots of teenagers and even DD5 was getting them to try it.
My personal favorite is the watermelon one from China.
We still had time so we went to Universe of Energy. I always enjoy that. We sat in the front row on the left side so we had a different perspective. Try that some time as that car is the first to go.
Then on to SpaceShip Earth. Then off to Mission Space to play the games. If you have never gone in there give it a try next time. The kids stayed there for the longest time. DH sent off a couple more e-mail postcards. Try them also as they are HYSTERICAL!!
Getting late so off to get DS9 fries at McDonald's and DH got us some beaver tails. He likes the cinnamon and I got the chocolate one. I know people rave about them but they are just ok. I had the strawberries and cream one the other night and it was very messy.
We watched Illuminations from in front of Canada. Not the best view but we couldn't walk anymore. The blister on my left little toe that was the size of RI is now the size of Texas!
We were back up to the room after 9:30 to pack. Timon & Pumba is on and one child is already asleep. DH just placed the call for a 7 a.m. wake-up call. The Boardwalk staff has already slipped their thank you note under the door so I guess it's official that we are leaving..
I am sad that it's almost over, but I also like to get home. I miss my "stuff" and I miss our two cats and all 10 birds. Of course the message on our phone said that the temps back home will be a high of 53 and a low of 38. Very hard to take after it being in the 80's all week..
