"Now That's What I'm Talkin' 'Bout!"- Our 1st DVC stay-May 2010-Wrap Up 9/23

Not sure if you are able to check DIS but I am really looking forward to meeting you and the family tomorrow (or today technically). :goodvibes

We understand!! We are all so busy the boards have been relatively quiet.

I love the picture of the girls sleeping in the car. I have to crack up with Josie--she is really good about finding a comfortable position!!

Thanks Stephanie! It was wonderful meeting you and your family and Wendy and her girls as well. It was fun to hang out for a little bit. I hope we can hang out next October. That would be amazing!!! :goodvibes

Great Sea World updates!

We went for the 1st time last year & really enjoyed it! How cool that you got to interact with the Dolphins & feed just about every creature in the park!

We start back to school next Thursday--so the kids are enjoying their last week of freedom!
Feeding the animals at Sea World costs us almost as much as it does to get in. :lmao: Hope school started back without any hiccups. We are doing great here. :goodvibes

What fun feeding the dolphins. We didn't feed them, but we did sit and watch them for awhile. I remember the manatees, that tank seemed to go on forever. Love the Believe show. Definitely have to make it back to seaworld someday.

Oh, and check out my october ptr when you get a chance!
Thank you! I will be sure to head over to your PTR and check it out! Got an update in the works but I will head over as soon as I can. :goodvibes

Just geting caught up on the DIS tonight- Wayne was at a fantasy football draft which meant chick flick and DIS for me!!!! I just wanted to make sure to stop in here and say hi!!! Hope the girls are loving school!!!!!
Hi Nickie! The girls are loving school so far. The novelty hasn't wore off yet. :lmao:

Also popping in to say hi! We have had a busy first week of school. Decided to make a change for Avery. Can't wait for ur next update. popcorn::
Hiya Mary!!
Update coming up!
I wanted to stop by and say Hey . Looking forward to your next update :goodvibes. Miss ya .
Miss you too Dana! I have an update coming up!! :cool1:
Also waiting for your next update! :)
Thanks Sarah! I will have an update up right away!!

Just popping in to say Hi! We talked about you this weekend. I was telling John about your trip to Sea World and I think I have him convinced that we need to go there in 2011.

Hiya everyone! I was MIA again for awhile but for good reason. We have been busy but having fun. On Monday nights I'm playing volleyball competitively in a co-ed league, Tuesday nights I'm coaching 5 & 6 grade girls, Wednesdays have been free, Thursdays are coaches meetings and clinics, and Friday is 5 & 6 grade practice again. Needless to say between those activities homework, dinner and baths it's never dull around home.

The update:

Friday morning we were supposed to go to breakfast at Cape May Cafe. When the alarm went off, I heard Joe go UGHHHH! So I proposed skipping breakfast. It took him all of two seconds to say "sounds good" and the plan immediately changed. We slept for another hour and a half and made our way over to EPCOT where we were meeting Jay and Leona so that they could watch the girls while we took our Segway tour through the WS.

We met them by Spaceship Earth and the girls happily joined their crew. We had to meet our tour guide at Guest Relations so we went over there, signed our lives away and put on our name tags. As soon as everyone had checked in, we were escorted over to Innoventions where we watched a quick video and was given some instruction on basic operation of the segway. Next we went out to the area that you see as you tour through Innoventions and we were taught to load and unload on the segway, how to steer, how to go uphill and how to go downhill. We did some quick hands-on exercises and then we were led out to start our tour of the WS.

I have to say the tour was awesome. In each country we would stop and learn more about the country, it's history and construction and then we would be led through different obstacles. It was really interesting and fun too. About halfway through, our guides took pics of all of us using our cameras....here's me and Joe...

IMG_4967.jpg

About the time we were finishing the tour, the WS had been opened up to the public so that last country or two was really interesting. Not only were there natural obstacles but now there were hundreds of human ones. ;) Riding a segway is all about balance and by the time we were done, the outside of my right foot ached a little. Apparently, I was compensating for my lack of balance with my right foot. Overall it was a great experience and we would highly recommend it to anyone interested. :thumbsup2

As we were taking our segways back to Innoventions we passed Jay, Leona and the kids. We waved at them and told them to wait right there. It was perfect timing. We parked our segways, turned in our helmets, thanked our instructors and we were on our way. We met Jay and Leona, picked up the kids and beat feet over to France for lunch at Les Chefs de France. I was really anticipating this meal after hearing all the praise.

As soon as we arrived they were just opening and we were one of the first seated for lunch. The service was soooooooo slow. It took 30 minutes to get a drink, another 15 for our appetizers and we had been there an hour and fifteen minutes when our entree finally arrived.

I had the french onion soup and Joe had the salad for an appetizer. We both think they were just okay. Here's some pics...

For dinner Joe had some pasta and I had the burger. The burger was so Nasty. It was mushy in the center and I left more than half. I did eat the fries though. They were pretty good. Joe didn't like his food very well either.

The best part of the meal occurred when this little guy stopped by and sang happy birthday to Joe. The girls thought this was just wonderful...I have to admit it was pretty sweet.

Here's Joe with his birthday dessert...

I don't think we will be back to Les Chefs. We weren't impressed at all. We loved Remy and the waiter who accompanies him but other than that it was terrible. Bad service + bad food = no go for us.

By the time we were done with the meal, it was time for the DIS meet. Luckily it was scheduled for the France courtyard so we hung out there. I spotted Mary and the girls right away so we went over there for a chat. We also got in line to meet Marie! We were so excited. She is one of the few we haven't met before.

Next it was time for the DIS meet. Yes, again, I didn't take any pics. You'd think after so many that I'd pull my head out of my behind and remember, but nope sure didn't. Bridora (B as I call her) and her family, MaryAZ (Mary) and her family, Mickeystoontown (Lisa) and her DH, and Racefanof88 (Dana), and Whitney and her DF attended. It was fun to meet everyone in person. The kids did some pin trading while some of the adults enjoyed some beverages. I had a GG slushie and it was awesome. I bought an orange slushie but didn't like it as well and gave it to Mary. The meet was super fun but was over super fast. Everyone had so much they needed to fit in. It was fun to meet everyone and their families and hope we meet again in the future. It's weird how your virtual friends are better friends than their your every day friends you know. :confused3

After the meet, we decided to head back to the hotel for some R & R. We were undecided if we were going to head over to WL for WCC or not. Jay and Leona weren't that impressed and with it being our last night we still needed to get things packed. We did end up going over to WCC. Again we ran into Mary and the girls. The girls had picked up some things for Mary's girls over the last few weeks and they gave them to them during dinner. It was our last meet with them of the trip so it was bittersweet. :sad2:

The dinner ended up being really fun. Our waitress was really into it (Bree was her name). She gave Joe a hard time and he had no problem returning the favor. They had a lot of fun together. Here are some pics from our meal.

The meal was fantastic, the service was out this world, and we just plain had fun. We will definitely go back!

After dinner we had hoped to catch up with Jay and Leona on the beach but it started drizzling and the movie was cancelled. Instead we headed to the car and back to AKV for one last swim and packing. When we got back Joe took the last pics we would take of AKV. Here they are...

After the pics, the kids and Joe went for a dip and I did my last load of laundry and packed us up. I then went down and we spent our last night relaxing and having fun in the pool. Another great day for sure!

On a side note, I wanted to share the cake I made with a friend last weekend for a her twins turning one. She hadn't worked with fondant so I did the modeling and she learned along the way. Hope you enjoy...this was super fun!

Hope everyone is having a great summer! I have one more day to go and then I will be done with my report. It's kind of sad really. Talk soon DIS friends!

That's awesome Lisa! Glad I can help you convince John. :goodvibes We had a good time for sure. :thumbsup2

I am actually pretty excited about adding Sea World to our 2011 vacation. We haven't been in several years. So long ago that Hunter doesn't even really remember it. Mama has decided to go with us to Disney again next year and she's never seen a whale so that's another good reason to go.

Regarding your update, the Segway tour looks amazing! John did the mini-Segway ride in Innoventions and he weeble wobbled the whole time. I have trouble not tripping over my own feet. Needless to say, I don't think we'll be doing the Segway tour any time soon.

Too bad you didn't care for your lunch. It's disappointing when you get excited about a restaurant and then are let down by less than stellar food and service.

It was fun meeting you guys at the Meet. Like you said, it was too short but we all had things we were trying to fit into our schedules.

Joe's last pics of AKV were so good. There were quite a few animals out at that time of day.

I'm such a goofball. I totally forgot to say how great the cake turned out. I told Lacey that I should figure out how to get you to do her wedding cake and then get it to Cleveland, Georgia.

Hi! Leanne
sounds like a fun but busy life going on over there...
the cake came out beautiful, as always! you do such a great job:thumbsup2

Great update! since you are so lucky to meet so many disser buddies I think I'm going to have a small pin made for you that says take our picture please
:rolleyes1 I'm sure it has to do with the idea that; when we meed up we are so excited and nervous all at the same time and the camera idea just is not on top of the brain.:rotfl2:

With the way the economy seems to be heading here in the new orleans area (waiting to see the outcome of the company Danny works for with the shipyard closing-that is their largest contract). we are thinking put HI off for the time being, thinking 2016 (but, the DVC location is out of our price range and not quite what we have in mind when we visit HI--we are thinking of trying a cruise ship that ports at the different islands--but now I have 5 more years to research {and Wendy had put the idea of Bora Bora in my ear so I'm thinking major trip to the south pacific}:confused3

I have been really researching crusies to the Eastern Caribbean and island trips to the Virgin Islands (Danny has always wanted to visit the V.I. and Key West. I am hoping to get a Disney trip in too) and we are planning for Yellowstone in 2012 (I have always wanted to go there) but, again depending on what happens to Danny's job everything may just turn to dreams. That is one of the main reasons why I really think I want to go back to school when Ashton starts Kindergarten; if nothing else my income can become vacation funds :thumbsup2

whoa! I'm sorry just realized I am sooooo rambling...getting off of your thread... have a great day!
:wave2: Connie

The Segway tour sounds great! My family would love to do that someday!

Sorry your lunch with Remy wasn't better. I would agree that based on our experience Remy is the best thing about the place.

The pictures from the AKL are great :thumbsup2

As for the cake....it is adorable!!!

Great update! I've always wondered about Chefs and I think we will be skipping it this trip! We are definitely going to WCC though!:thumbsup2

Emily likes seeing the pictures of her new friends Lindsey & Josie! They are so cute!:lovestruc

I would love to do the Segway tour at WL or Epcot someday. I think I'll have to wait until the girls are both old enough for the kids club.:cutie:

The Sesame Street cake is AMAZING!! I think it is one of my favorites that you have posted! Great job, you are so talented!

Stephanie and I are booked for next fall, now we just need to work on Nickie! She said if she goes back to work, she'll be there so I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Anyway, you guys had a fantastic trip, thank for sharing with us!:flower3:

Fun update. the segway tour looked really cun! Sorry the food at Le Chefs was nasty. Yay for fun Dis Meets!! Love the last AKV pics!!

sorry for the poor experience at Les Chefs :( I ate there with my brother for dinner in March and it's now one of our favorite meals. I thought the soup was one the best I've had. I had the short ribs and the pastry puff things for dessert which was all great!!

I'm taking my friends there in Oct for lunch and we're going there in Dec for CLP so I hope that the experience is still great!!

The Segway tour is always fun! I loved doing mine a few years ago!!

I think Mama will love Sea World. It is a fun place and if you like wildlife you are really in for a treat. It will be nice for Hunter too since he doesn't remember much. :goodvibes

I was cracking up at your Segway comments. It takes about 10 minutes to figure the Segway out but after that you are fine. It was good for Joe and I to have some "us" time during the trip. In November we are planning to do the Aqua Seas Tour. I haven't done it but Joe has. He says it's the most amazing experience he's had at Disney. We'll see. :rolleyes1

It was fun meeting you as well. We have so many ideas for trips next year. I'm not exactly sure how they will fall. We are definitely planning a trip the first week of October at WDW. I've got my eyes on at least the 5k.

We really enjoyed our time at AKV. We are going back in a little over a month to celebrate Josie's birthday. It will be nice to be "home". :goodvibes

I'm such a goofball. I totally forgot to say how great the cake turned out. I told Lacey that I should figure out how to get you to do her wedding cake and then get it to Cleveland, Georgia.

Thanks Lisa. Where is Cleveland, Georgia? I enjoy cake decorating. I am showing my mom how to do a wedding cake on Thursday night. A friend of hers asked if I could help her out and Mom wants to learn how to construct one. It's a three tier white with small dots in a quilting pattern and a great big obnoxious bow on the top. The dots and bow are orange. Should be interesting. ;)

First off, that cake is AWESOME! Want to come to Knoxville and teach me how to work with fondant? :rotfl:

Okay, back to Disney-talk.

Glad you guys enjoyed the Segway tour! I think it looks like a lot of fun. I'll add it to the list of things to do when we take our adults-only trip. :thumbsup2

Sorry to hear that Les Chefs didn't impress. I agree that bad service and bad food would definitely not warrant a return visit.

The DISmeet sounds like such fun!

Glad that you guys had a great experience at WCC!

Great AKL pics! So sad that this was your last night. :sad2:

Hi Connie!

We are busy but we are having fun. I need a pin or maybe a tattoo to remind me to take pics.:lmao: I think I get so excited that I just forget.

We have all kinds of ideas for trips for next year. Hopefully we will continue to be blessed and can do a couple of fun things next year. We definitely have an October 2011 WDW trip and we are considering a cruise and a trip to Yellowstone for next year as well. Joe and I have earned 4 weeks of vacation so we have our fingers crossed that we can do something exciting during that time.

I was pleasantly surprised at the number of points required for us to go to the DVC resort on Oahu. We will make it there probably in 2012. I've checked on airfare and if you book 9-10 months in advance the flights are very reasonable. :goodvibes
We've been dreaming of Hawaii since we were engaged.

Well I have two girls to finish readying for school so I better run for now. Back later this morning!

Great update!

And how cute is that stinkin' cake?!?!? Wow! Great job!

Thanks for the review of Chefs. We had it booked in May and decided that day to cancel it and just order pizza. We have it booked again in September, but right now, it looks like we will probably cancel it, too.

I want to try the french onion soup, but that's about it. I'd say that maybe we would go for a quick lunch, but if it took you 30 minutes just to get your drinks, I think we'll pass.

Yay, an update! First off, that is so awesome you are playing/coaching volleyball. I really should try to find a league like that around here. I miss playing so much.

Now onto the update...yay for a DIS meet! Sounds like there was a pretty good turnout. And that picture of the girls with Marie is so cute.

Glad you had such a good experience at WCC! It is a fun restaurant and the food is great. :thumbsup2
