Do you shoot with a telescope?

Unfortunately no. Too much $$$ for one that would not disappoint me. I pretty much stick to the nerdy stuff like reading about Astronomy. I also took a few classes in college. My DW teases me more about this hobby than Photography. Here are a couple of good sites if anyone is interested.

Those Renaissance Fairs can be a real "interesting" place to roam with a camera.

I got this one a few months back at the fair outside of Houston. Interesting outfit.........

From the M&M's World Store in the Florida Mall, never knew this was there. Pretty cool place.

I didn't know about this either. I will have to check it out next time.

didn;t get to talk with all of them , but I did learn that the one in green

is an ER nurse...imagine waking up in the ER and seeing that looking down at you...LOL

they invited me to their year end party, and at the party hired me to be their photographer for next years ren faire...

2angels - No we don't get there too terribly often. They have a "be a tourist" pass for locals that is good in January that lets you into all the major attractions for a mere pittance. My mother-in-law used to "work" (ie volunteer) there a few years ago - she is a quilter and she would work on a quilt while wearing a period costume.

It's a beautiful place!

Canon S2 IS....

Do you find it 'snaps' quick enough? (forgive my ignorance with terms)


I bought my first ever digital camera a little over a year ago... a Kodak Easyshare(something cheap and easy to use) cuz I was really confused and overwhelmed AND really didnt know what I needed.
Like this:

And actually during the day, outside, non-moving object, not too close up, this thing takes really crisp, nice pictures!

However - if I wanna snap something that is happening, for instance the face of a kid opening a present... it takes too long. It doesnt snap when I push - does that make sense? I suprised my son with a trip to Disney this past January and sitting in the parking lot of the airport I wanted to snap a picture as he found out we werent picking my boss up from the airport, WE were headed to the world.... I didnt get THAT face, I got a face a few seconds later.

Also - night pictures....they pretty much stink altogether, and trying anything far away, or moving at night? Forget it...garbage.

And - I cant get too close up to anything....even if I use the 'closeup' function.

Oh and the zoom? Useless... if I zoom, I get blur.

So, what do I need - what am I looking for? Would this Canon be it?

my daughter's easyshare had all the same problems so it's not you it's the camera...i did compensate for the shutter delay somewhat by anticipating the shot and making sure the shutter was 1/2 depressed before hand ( ie prefocusing, as soon as he picked up the package i would have 1/2 depressed the button) that way the lag was less. i would guess it's either not snapping when you push the button cause it is taking the time to focus, maybe zoom, what ever else it needs to do...and start up time if you are turning it on then would add time as well.

don't have an s2 but i can say from other daughter's a600( same sensor) she gets great shots and not bad lag...although i think most have improved there, even some kodaks.. the s2 lag is .2 second prefocused and .8 second if not prefocused

I agree - the photos are great Jeff! I learned something new - I was not familiar with this type of equestrian event! You have piqued my interest!

Tara and I are headed to St Augustine tomorrow on the 4th grade field trip. My ulterior motive to going with the class was so I could do some photography of something other than DISNEY!!!! I can't wait, and hope I get the opportunity to do a little "shooting" while still keeping an eye out for the kids!!!
