November 2012 Trip planners #4~almost Disney time! Everyone welcome!

It has been since 2005 that we have been in WDW during the holidays. I don't want to miss a thing!!! We have a MVMCP planned, Candlelight Processional, know about gingerbread displays, but i have a question for those of you have been in more recent years. Is there anything at parks or resorts that you would recommend as DO NOT MISS??? Thanks in advance:)

The Osborne Lights at DHS ROCK! They are up to something like 5 million lights now, and they dance to music. They start at dusk and continue to closing. My kids love this!!!

Good Morning everyone!! :goodvibes

Just completed our online check in and we are officially at 10 days, yay!! Almost there, its hard to believe that in just a short time we will be at WDW enjoying all the new things including the new FL!! This truly will be a special trip for us celebrating my daughter's college graduation and hopeful acceptance to grad school, as well as my other daughters 16th birthday. And...our 25th wedding anniversary is next year!! We are all SOOOOOO EXCCCITTTEDDD!!!

I'm just checking in with you all. This is our 3rd day here and everything so far has been awesome. The new resort AoA is just beautiful. We've had dinner at Teppan EDo and bkfst at CP and it was really good. Plus the weather is great. Gotta go now. Off to DHS today.

Good morning ya'll. :goodvibes

Its amazing to me that we are telling some to have a great time in Disney. Can't believe its here. 19 days for us. I'm another one that is starting to think about packing.

Does anyone else take a pharmacy with them? I take meds for every possible thing. Got really sick a few years ago and didn't have any meds. There wasn't much to chose from at the WL gift shop. And what was there was expensive. So now I pack meds for EVERYTHING!!

We are taking small pill boxes for Betsy's stuff, instead of risking the entire bottle of prescription stuff, plus a bag of Hall cough drops, small bottle of aspirin, etc

Pharmacy here! I have migraines & feet damage so lots of pain meds. We pack tummy, cold, headache & kids' meds, band aids, polysporin, cortisone, solarcain, Immodium, you name it! And, what seems like a whole vitamin aisle lol. We have had trips where one of us gets a stomach bug, boo-boos, heat rash, or a cold. It is difficult to find what you need at resort stores, and if you do, it's outrageously priced! We do not always need certain things, but I am one of those "better safe than sorry" folks.

We are sorting stuff, but not packing yet. We have to wait until Tuesday and dropping the dog off at the kennel before we start packing. He gets nervous around too much activity, so after he is dropped off, we can start.

He is a rescue, and very protective of us and hesitant of change, which is why we kennel him instead of getting a dog sitter, since he is less threatened outside of his home environment.

10 days to go!!! Suitcases are coming down from attic in a bit. I have about 5 packing lists bc when I would think of something else I want to pack, I wasn't home to add it. Brought kids shopping yesterday for shorts and jeans since all three decided to grow out of everything right before our trip :D. Sooooooo excited!!!

You may also want to just buy another suitcase, especially if you are already tight on space and plan to bring back souvenirs. My wife and I will typically pack an empty duffle bag type suitcase to bring things back with.

This is good advice; I always take an extra folding bag made out of sturdy parachute nylon that carries home a lot of gifts and other items that I acquire on my trip. It folds up small, but boy does it hold a lot going home. I just take it folded up in my suitcase going down and then fill it up with anything breakable, special, or valuable and treat it as a carry on going home.

So I called Southwest and you can check a box. If the security opens it they will tape it back up.Also!!! While I was on hold I was looking around the southwest site and our ticket price dropped!:cool1: So buy changing them all to the new rate it refunded me 14,000 points! That is another flight I can take!pixiedust:

Wow, good for you! I don't fly but every couple years or once a year. Could I get some type of credit if our fares have dropped? I'm not in their point program, but I always fly Southwest.

I have to take a lot of meds for my neuro muscular disease. They control my symptoms and pain. Plus I go prepared with meds for sinus and headache problems. It's not that big of a deal to me because I'm used to it. But, it's a good idea for anyone to be prepared; you never know when someone could get a headache or the sniffles and who wants to spoil a WDW trip?
We have 20 more days! I've been starting my packing and my Christmas decor here at home so I won't be overwhelmed when we get back. ;)

Hello everyone! We had the big first birthday bash for my DS today. Disney themed of course, Cars. Glad to here more people checked in after Sandy to say they were ok. We have 22 days until Disney. Now that the birthday party is done I'm going to work on more shirts and more packing. My oldest DS and fiance are able to come now so I won't have to ride all of the rollercoasters Ha ha!

Thats great!

So we made it here. Tonight we are eating dinner at Jiko. It is delicious. The weather is so nice. 80 during the day and cool at night though. I was rather chilly at food and wine last night. If you get cold easily, I would recommend a sweatshirt or light jacket. Off to Magic Kingdom tonight. Hope I can stay awake.

Have a blast!

I always pack medicine we might need. My kids are very paticular about how medicine tastes so I pack what they like just incase they need to take something while we are away.

22 more days and I already have 3 bags packed. Can't wait to get the rest done. Have a great time!

Oh no. Thats no fun. Glad your DH is handy and can take care of it. Have a great time on your trip.

Reading the posts from this thread rely brightened my spirits. We are leaving in 2 days and should excited but we are going into day 7 without power since we were affected from the hurricane. My DH is a fire fighter and Red Cross Volunteer whom I haven't seen for days. I packed my two girls and myself today. But, I feel my heart is not in it. I hope we can leave all this behind when we hop on the plane Tues. and whatever we forgot, we can buy. It has really been one hell of a week and trying to think good and warm thoughts.

Having a "scavenger hunt" tomorrow night to tell the 4 grandchildren they're all going to Disney World in less than 2 weeks! We've all had a hard time keeping the surprise (since April). Can't wait to see their faces and reactions (got the cam-corder charged and ready). There will be 9 of us in total. Got our Disney pins (ebay) yesterday and the Photo Pass plus (now only $149) on the way. Staying at Bonnet Creek (new owners -ebay). First time for spending Thanksgiving at Disney, have been there several other times for the Holidays, was there in Magic Kingdom for New Years 2000 (yes it was nuts) and even proposed to my now wife at midnight at the Castle then. Only wish my son-in-law could be there... passed away in late August... he has been and will be missed.
