November 12, 2005....7 Night Eastern...Who Else?

Just poppin in to say Hi my fellow cruisers!!!!

I also notice that on the list of cruisers it says 7 Day Wonder.....Unless something changed that I am not aware of won't we be on the Magic. :)

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: :faint: :faint: :faint:

DON'T PANIC!

It seems the "unofficial, official, list keeper" goofed.

:sad2:

So sorry, must beg indulgence for mistake in the title.... :sad2:

We are indeed on the MAGIC :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

With "WONDERful" ship-mates! :grouphug:

Less than 6 months to go to cruise time. I can't wait!

Although I do not know the difference between 6 months and 5 months 4 weeks, but the Tickler must....

Have a great week!

Thanks for the warm welcome! We are excited about this trip and are trying to talk some more family into coming along with us. Shoudn't be too hard right? When we sailed on the Magic in November of 2003, my husband got sick off some bad beer in Mexico (so the ship's doc says) and was stuck in the cabin for 3 days - I was sent to a different cabin with my then 4 month old by myself! We're trying again to see if we can make it thru the week without any catastrophe's this time! :cool1:

Hi ship mates, pirate:

No one has posted for a while so I thought I would stir up the group. :Pinkbounc

If you are like me - you have been reading the thread of the Magic on its way to the Panama Canal. Wish we were there. :cloud9:

Still we will have lots of fun on our cruise. :Pinkbounc

Assuming that there are not H----canes! :umbrella: I do not wish to live through another year like last one....

Anyway - I hope all is well and you are still as excited as ever.

Bye :wave2:

:cool1: Oh, baby......am I as excitied as ever! I am out of control....I met a really nice DIS'er on the Nov. 12, 2006 Double Dip of CC meet thread and she set me up with her travel agent in Chicago.....I am about to book that cruise for over $1,000 less than what Disney wants! It is through AAA (of which we are not even members!) and it even includes a $150 onboard credit and 10% off at the shops on board and all rental stuff on CC! Does anyone else in this group seriously give thought to that NOV, 2006 cruise too? If so, I need to link you up with this gal......many other DIS'ers use her and swear by her...like GrayFal, Hannomom/Chichihoney, KYCruiseCrazy, and HouseofPrincesses. This 2006 cruise is getting almost 3/4 full already because of the special Western itinerary....skipping Key West and somewhere else that doesn't excite me....can't remember now.
I AM SO EXCITED TO GO ON OUR COMING CRUISE! :cool1: I dream about it regularly. :wizard:
Until later, DIS NURSE from Oregon :flower:

We book on board, and then drop to AAA, and we always get a good deal, plus we get all the AAA perks!

75% full, huh? I have to have my two sister's that arent' booked yet to get their act together, otherwise we will be sailing w/o them! Doesn't sound like they should wait until this November when we cruise....

:flower: exactly what I have had to contemplate....this will be MUCH higher in price (whatever is left over at the catagory we can afford) by the time we sail this Nov. As it is, for the category we are choosing I am booking a very much further forward stateroom.....all that's left on Deck 2. I hope it's not a big deal. It's that room or we don't go.....so how bad could it possibly be compared to staying home and wishing I had booked while I could? :confused3

Why would anyone book through DCL or through DU if AAA gives you so much better deals? Even my friend who works for Cruise One (who booked our 11/12/05 cruise) quoted me $500 more than this AAA gal....and without all the perks. I would be a FOOL not to cough up the $1,000 deposit now and get us onboard! :rotfl: At least, that is my rationale! :rotfl2:

While I would love to cruise again with you guys in 2006 :grouphug:

We actually booked the double dip in May 2006 before we booked this November cruise ---

So I guess we are either  with :earsboy: or as out of control as everyone else on these boards. :cheer2:

Remember to look-see the webcame tomorrow!!!!!!!!!

Congrats, DISNurse! Welcome to the "I have two DCL trips booked club!" :cool1: :Pinkbounc It all makes perfect sense to Disers...just watch out when you tell others...my parents think we are nuts! :earseek: :confused3

I have to admit I've been very jealous reading the thread from the current Magic cruisers. I really wanted to book, but the trip just did not work with my daughter's school schedule (she's in 10th grade and would have missed finals...she's #1 in her class...grades are just too important!) Anyway, it has been fun (too) to read about all of the perks and firsts they have experienced. What a great trip! :bounce: And reading any "Live" thread, just gets me all the more excited for our upcoming sailing! ::yes::

Have a great weekend! :dancer:

If I had it my way I'd have another one booked too, and I haven't even been yet. But, alas, DH is going to take much more convincing, looks like I'll be sending y'all scripts on prompting him in person for that booking onboard discount!!! ;) :rotfl2:

Bobsuzla,

We've got the same situation here! I would love to do the "double dip" cruise in 2006, but my husband will take some convincing. I'm not sure how he is going to handle the two consecutive days at sea on the Eastern Itinerary. He gets antsy easily. He LOVES the water. We have a sailboat, and we spend a lot of time at the Jersey shore every summer, but I'm not sure if he'll feel confined being on the ship for two days straight. He hasn't even looked at the itinerary yet, so he doesn't realize we will be at sea for two days straight. I am definitely the planner in the house. He'll probably look at it when we get on the plane to Orlando on November 11th!!

How extreme South is "extreme South Jersey"? We used to live in Stratford (Camden County), and my mother in law has a house in Ocean City. I'm thinking you're in Salem or thereabouts?

I'm so glad we're under the six month mark. We are surprising our kids with this trip, so I can't really talk about it much at home. It's great to have other Disney Nuts to confide in!!

I grew up in Salem County, but I am farther south than that now! I am even further than Ocean City. We are in Rio Grande, which is about 5 miles north of Cape May point which is as far south in New Jersey as you can get!!! It's where the Del.Bay meets the ocean!!! :sunny: Sooo... we'll have to work on our husbands together ;) ;) :rotfl2:

Okay....here's the deal with rebooking....everything I have researched is MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE...whether it be my friend with Cruise one (who would never give me a bad deal), Dreams Unlimited, or DCL.... pirate: they are at least $500-$1,000 more than what I just booked! I talked with my new DIS friend on the Nov. 11, 2006 cruise meets board and she said," whoever wants them can have them!".....meaning...these extra staterooms that she originally booked in a LARGE group she either needs to give them out via her TA (again, awesome deal and booked at rates over 1.5 yeears ago!) or she simply gives them up with no cash out of hand in the future (?when, I don't know?) and they go back into general funds and are sold at the MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE PRICE at today's dollar and not attached to AAA wirth all the perks! I couldn't lose! :flower:

This is the last e-mail quotes I received.....remember....special itinerary Western......2 stops at CC.....goes to Costa Maya and Cozumel....one less sea day than we are doing this Nov......I was excited at the price she originally gave me for the category 9 (deck 2)....AND the DIS friend was actaully misquoting by accident....when I hooked up with her TA the final price was actually $303.00 cheaper! :flower:

:wizard: Category 9 $3,310.44 (ended up cheaper when I called!)
:wizard: Category 8 $3,810.44
:wizard: Category 6 $4,650.44

The DIS friend who is willing to give the info out is Jeanna Arambasich ( email is jeannaa@gmail.com).....her TA is Kim Bomba with an email of KABomba@aaachicago.com ......she is really nice and not pressuring at all if you want to see what she can do for you. ;)

I know this cruise will be sold out when we board in NOV....or close to it. pirate:

I think DCL wants you to pay top dollar at the heat of the momment when you are sailing and make you think you are getting a good deal......remember.....my measly cat 9 still gets a $150 onboard credit through AAA....and we are not even members! It's entirely tied to Jeanna's rooms she already booked in a large group. BTW, you don't have to do anything with the "group" if you book...In fact, they are all early seating and we are wishing for late seating! Conceirge rooms come also with the perks....I have only heard of these and know nothing further. Pretty fun party rooms, I guess......anyway...Jeanna is willing to talk to anyone intersted! :grouphug:

Oh, and yes......the comment earlier about people thinking you are nuts for booking two cruises? That would be me not telling anyone but you guys yet.....people at work already think I am nuts and my parents....nope....we won't tell them until last minute.....they think we are "excentric" for "spoiling" our children!

Did anyone read the thread about "spoiling" your children with DCL vacations? pirate: I don't care what anyone says....these are family memories in the making! I am soooooo excited! :cheer2:

disnurse, great info. Thank you! I have a feeling though, that I will not be returning to the Magic or wonder after my initial trip, I have no doubts that we will absolutely love it, but my plan is to take a vacation to Europe in about 6 years, when dd is around 16. My Husband is a huge WWII history buff and would like to do one of the battlefield tours that are out there, and with that I would like to throw in a trip to all of the other hot spots Venice Rome, Paris(Disneyland ;) ) We are hoping to take 3 weeks during the summer for that one, Sooo I will need all 6 years to plan and save for it! It has taken me the last year to plan and save for our cruise!!! :guilty: Of course there will be trios to Florida in between, most of our families live there afterall, and there will always be time to squeeze in the parks, but no biggies for us probably!!! :sad2: :sad1: (unless I win one on who wants to be a mouseketeer better start studying :sunny: :rotfl2: )

I was just reading the current "Live from the Magic" thread and saw the updates the Magic will undergo before we sail. I'm especially excited for the spa rehab and the big screen on deck! Watching a movie under the stars while sailing the Caribbean sounds like a "magic"al way to spend an evening with my hubby! I'm disappointed, however, to read that the Magic will not be going to Europe in 2007...I was really hoping for a new itinerary. Oh well, maybe 2008! :bounce:

Disnurse...Looks like your friend hooked you up with a good deal. The key with DCL seems to be early booking. The first two times we sailed (before I found the DIS), we booked just a few months before our sail date with a local travel agent. BIG mistake...we paid more (like an extra $1000) for a Cat 9 in 2001 then we are paying for a Cat 6 this year. Crazy! We booked our Cat 3 for March, 2006 on the first day rates were released (we were onboard, so we got the discount and credit, too.) Thank goodness, because the prices are now through the roof! :earseek: I'm just glad I found the DIS so that I can always stay informed about such things! :cheer2:

For some strange reason I am avoiding (or not drawn to, let's say....) the currently hot thread, "Live from the Magic". Not sure why......so, no...I haven't become aware of the upgrades they will be doing right before we cruise!
:Pinkbounc Tell me more, tell me more! :Pinkbounc

Big screen on deck? Let's hear specifics!!

How did you hear about these? WHo is putting this to fact? I have always been told DISNEY is very tight lipped about such things.....

DCL's president was on board the Magic this week. He gave a talk on the ship's upcoming improvements. They will be complete during the Magic's dry dock in October! Apparently, they are also adding a "Swim with stingrays" excursion on Castaway Cay. There are several threads discussing the details...Check them out! :teeth:

hello all,it's been awhile since i've posted so i wanted to let you know we're still out here! the last few weeks have been INSANE and when you read futher you will appreciate how much more we are looking forward to this trip and meeting all of you.

if you remeber, my most recent post of a few weeks ago reported my daughter took a fall off her bike and hurt her arm and 2 front teeth. well, i have to say that it must have been her guardian angel that pushed her off that bike! when dd was examined at er they noticed an abnormality on the xray of the arm she fell on and referred us to an orthopedist who referred us to a pediatric orthopedic surgeon. over the course of 3 weeks we've been to doctors, orthos, orthopedic supply companys, endured a full body xray, bone scan and an mri all culminating in surgery day before yesterday. the abnormality turned out to be a bone anuerism that covered over a third of her left humerus bone. we don't know when it occured (doctor said with these it could have happened several years ago and generaly are not detected unless a kid takes a fall requiring an xray which alerts you to the problem). the good news is that the biopsy came back clean, the bad news is she had to have an incision down into the bone where they opened the bone, cleaned out the entire affected area (basicly the affected area is like a drinking straw with only a thin shell of outer bone) and packed it with bone grafts. so dear daughter is on the healing track for the next 4-5 months-summer camp and all other physical summer activities are out.

she was very disappointed to find out her summer plans were out so we went ahead and told her about the cruise and wdw (she's going to keep it a surprise from little brother), as she was laying in recovery with a heavy dose of morphine in her system she would stir once in a while and say "well mom, we still have the cruise to look forward to". we will have to keep close tabs on her for the next 2-4 years with xrays every couple of months-apparantly these types of things have up to a 50% chance of reoccuring. but in the grand scheme we feel we have been greatly blessed to have discovered the problem before it caused further destruction of the bone.

plan on seeing some very enthusiastic travelers on this trip-my daugher esp. is viewing this as her opportunity to make up for her "lost summer".

take care all, talk to you soon.

barkley

Barkley - Oh my goodness. Thank heavens that DD is ok right now, but what an ordeal to go through. We will join you in thanking her guardian angel for pushing her so that the x-ray was required before even more damage was done.

Poor kid. We will keep her in our prayers - but they say kids heal fast.

Take care - more later.

:guilty: Wow, Barkley! So sorry! You tell her she is very brave! Better yet, let her read our words of encouragement for a speedy recovery from all across the USA! :earsboy:

In my limited pediatric knowledge base (I am Neonatal heavy) I have never heard of such a thing! I am going to work tomorrow and am going to ask my fellow Pediatricians though (very close working relations with some GREAT ones for many years) just how common this is......I am intruigued!

She is surely a tough girl and will pull through just fine......saving all that extra pent up energy for her awesome family vacation!! :cool1:

Take care, DIS NURSE :flower:

I just got my new passporter in the mail last night and I am soooo excited! This time I got the Deluxe, and it is really cool!
