Let me know about rates on the Hyatt because we're leaning that way with the crew of 8. Will probably fly in on Friday afternoon/evening and chill before heading to port. Would also be interested in rates for things in Cocoa Beach and car rentals in case that's more cost effective!
Kris, with your group of 8 - I think the round trip van is your best bet - they have large 12 passenger vans or the company that Dee suggested with a trailer...HallsOf VA used a company - http://www.fltours.com/ - for a party of 7 and was very happy with the service.

Thanks Pat...that's looks great. I hated the thought of driving :goodvibes

Just an update: Pat is also checking in on a group rate for the Hyatt.

I can also check on a group rate for the limo if anyone is intereted. I will just do it and see what comes up.

Edited:

Okay here is the rate. For 50 people the cost is $700.00 roundtrip, which comes out to $14.00 per person.

If anyone is interested please let me know.

We are interested! Is that round trip? From Hyatt MCO to and from the terminal? Sorry I didn't quite understand.

We need to pull a good rate at the Hyatt and we are set!

We just stayed there one full day and a night and were impressed! A class act operation! :cool1:

Yes this is to and from the Airport/Hyatt. Nothing is set in stone.

Grayfal made a good point about the return departure time. We will all need to leave at the same time and that may pose a problem with return flights. I say we see how it plays out and if it works for all..great, if not then we can go to plan "B."

We paid $136 with tax at the Hyatt in October. I am hoping to get that rate or better. The rates have not been posted yet, I checked yesterday.

I got an email from the Hyatt.

Right now they are offering a group rate of 169 s/d per night.

I checked expedia, cheap hotel and a few others (for the week before because they do not have our date yet) and it was 199.99 +

I am trying to see what we can get through AAA (Pat) and American Express.

I will keep everyone posted.

We are interested in staying at the Hyatt pre cruise also. We would need 2 rooms. One for my parents and one for the family, unless I can talk DH into going to DW for a few days before the cruise. :confused3 If I can, my parents will be staying at the Hyatt. What would you suggest for transportion to port for 2 people?? What would you suggest for 6 people??

Dee, count us in on the Hyatt and shuttle service. There's 8 of us at this point and I have come to the conclusion that this is going to be the most economical way for us to go.

As far as coordination at disembarkment for return shuttle to airport....waiting at MCO doesn't matter to us. We're looking at a 1:30 p.m. flight next time but the flight after the 12/03 cruise wasn't until 3:40 p.m. and it was no big deal to "pop a squat" at MCO. I'd say that we all set the flights home 12:00 or after, we all hang on the ship until they made us get off at 9:00 a.m. and then head over to MCO.

So I understand, is it basically $700 and "we can have up to 50" meaning that if we only end up with 30 we'd have to just reallocate the cost between us? If so...that's still cool with us because we're looking at around $210 for shuttle service for the 8 of us anyways.

Dee - after reading these posts, I just emailed Chicago AAA Kim and told her we would probably be 20 - 25 rooms as you said you need 10 yourself.....so we will see what she comes up with...the 'regular' AAA rate is $179 - so we will see what the group thingy does.

BTW, Kim works Tuesdays and Thursdays and I am working and going out to dinner tomorrow - if I get a response from her tomorrow, I will post when I get home tomorrow night.

You rock! Thank you! From the very beginning many months ago, all of you have been more than helpful and true DIS'ers!......sharing your fortunes! :cool1:

"Kim" is also who I have booked through because of your offer many months ago to "tag along' with a group rate...and I don't even know you!

:teeth: THANKS! :teeth:

If we can group the Hyatt and transportation to and from......then it will be that much more economical and that much more FUN!

.....am already dreaming of the two stops at CC!
We received our Castaway Cay Survival Guide and DVD in the mail just yesterday 'cause we were newbies in Nov. :wizard:

We are hooked! It was the best vacation ever!

We never received anything after our cruise in April and we rebooked onboard. :confused3
I have to admit to being a little disappointed... :sad1:

I've never received anything either, and I just finished my 4th cruise. I think it is a hit or miss kind of thing. We have received DCL stuff addressed to my DD, once, and lately we've received stuff at our address in my niece's name. :confused3 (Don't tell her, cause I am keeping it for my scrapbooks :teeth: )

That is correct, as I understand it now.

I hope Pat can get us a better rate at the Hyatt then I got yesterday.

Well I hope all are doing well. It is cold and wet here ugh. It is not even good weather if you are a duck. :rotfl:

Linda, is Sarah feeling better? Please send her our good wishes.

getting little bit better thanks dee

If it makes you feel any better, our CD of "Castaway Cay Reminicences" was delivered to our mailbox BROKEN into pieces, as many others have arrived having read these boards a lot. ;)

I know it is hit and miss as to who gets the mailings and who does not. :confused3
Seems to be done in batches.
Many of our cruisemates received theirs promptly.

I will see what transpires after a friendly phone call to DCL about the broken CD. will keep you informed.

IMHO, it is just the novelty of the mailing.
What does it REALLY give you (as in benefits) in the end? :confused3

Not much. ;)

I'm guessing Disney is hoping for those few people that will get the mailing and think about booking another cruise. I'm sure there are some that get it and go, "You know, we should really do that again."

Perhaps that explains why I haven't gotten one since I've already given in to temptation... :goodvibes

Just poppin' by to say "Hi" ::wave2::

Hope everyone is all set for the holidays. I did my gift wrapping today, though I still have two things to pick up tomorrow (lottery tickets for the Wed drawing). Got one more office lunch/grab bag and then all the non-family type activities are done! Our Christmas will be very relaxing...just the three of us (Dsis and Dbil), kicking back, going to the movies, grilling on the bbq (barbequing on the grill?), sitting around the firepit with hot toddies and playing with whatever toys Santa brings.

Here's to everyone getting all their preparations done one time!
