Nov. 28, 2009 Western - Post Thanksgiving Relaxation Cruise

Yes, Linda, we were in category 9 on deck 1 in connecting cabins. Now we are in the solid-wall verandah type of category 6 on deck 6 in non-connecting cabins. And we went from the very front of the ship to just about as far aft as you can get. :) I am severely sensitive to cigarette smoke (migraines), so it may be that our sliders become one huge window, and I am somewhat sad that we won't be in connecting cabins, but that just means we'll have to divide our time between our cabin and Judy & Charlie's that is the next one over. I'm glad we are at least in adjoining cabins.

I can't believe we will board the Magic 2 weeks from today!!!! I am really starting to get excited, even though the only clothes I've figured out so far are my formal night and semi-formal night attire. LOL!
Can I ask what your stateroom number is? My DH really wants to get a Cat. 6 HC stateroom and they keep telling us they're full. Are you in either 6154 or 6654? Those are the HC all the way in the back of the boat. Thanks.

So we are surprising our kids - they don't know anything about the trip in 2 weeks. Today my 8yr old was working on a school project and had to write about a place she wants to go visit and she said Florida and Disney World! And I was thinking, how awesome this is going to be for her and all the kids - we go to Disneyland since live in southern CA but the cruise will be so cool. I have been trying to pack on the sly and she saw a pile of "summery" kids clothes in my room and some new things (tags on) and asked "what is all that stuff". I am having to tell little white lies to keep the surprise - but sooooo worth it I hope!

Counting down!

We surprised our kids 2 years ago-- it was hard but so worth it. We told them after 2 days at WDW that we were moving to a place on the ocean :lmao: They found out when we were crossing the bridge and the oldest saw the ship -- they freaked out - it was great :thumbsup2

Hey, did anyone else get word of an upgrade today? We and our friends in connecting cabins got a complementary upgrade from category 9 to category 6. Haven't decided yet whether I am totally psyched or not. Will have to go read some reviews.

Cool- seems like 3 of us got upgrades! We went from Category 9 to a 7 :thumbsup2

We figured there is only one "first cruise" - we started the "not telling" part because we did not want to hear them bug us how much longer until we leave and then decided to really surprise them. They don't even know we are going out of town the day after Thanksgiving - going to tell them on Turkey Day that daddy has to go to Florida for business and company said we could come hang out. This will be the longest flight we have taken with all 4 kids (ages 8 to 3) and pretty much dreading that part - especially my son (the youngest) that can't sit still and is very busy. But the cruise will be worth the pain of traveling!!

That's so fun! I wish I had it in me cause I think it would be really cool to keep it a secret--I just don't know if I could pull it off!!! I want to hear what their reactions are :goodvibes

No upgrade here. Started out in a Cat. 6 and still in a Cat.6. Picked out our cabin when we rebooked, Midship Deck 6 right above the stabilizers 2 decks down from our cabin on last years cruise in a Cat 4 on the Wonder.

The only upgrade I could really hope for would be a midship Suite, but I really doubt that is going to happen!:lmao:

Congrats to those of you who got upgrades.:thumbsup2

Back from traveling for work and NO MORE until we leave! :dancer: (Sorry..couldn't resist - he just makes me laugh!)

Wow! I had so much to catch up on! Checked and no upgrade and no cruise docs :sad2: I SO want a verandah! pixiedust: I finally sent an email to the TA asking if he had gotten them. I'll probably end up bringing the work computer so that I can download pictures but will probably end up checking emails a couple of times since I'm really busy right now.

I am, like usual, going to be cutting everything close. In fact, I would be surprised if I slept at all the night before we leave. I think I was the 1st to post that I was starting the pack. Well....I've had stuff put aside but still don't have anything in the suitcase yet. I am ALMOST finished with my FE but still working on the gift. I also printed out the packing list and in between things last week, highlighted what I wanted to bring with so next week will be busy with finding all of those things!

Can't wait to meet you all! We talked about having the Mickey Paint chips for when we are all waiting in the Terminal to board so we could recognize each other before we get on the ship. Thank you for re-posting that! I thought of that the other day but couldn't remember exactly what it was and was going to go back to the old thread and try to find it. Thanks!:jumping1: More time for getting ready!

Morning all!

Up early this morning. Dogs woke up at 4 a.m. and wanted to pee. While I love my animals, I wish they would figure out "weekends". I get up at 4:30 during the week and they go out. Apparently they haven't figured out that I get to sleep late on Saturdays and Sundays. :headache: My DSD, who is housesitting, will just love that!! :rotfl2:

Big day scheduled. We have to drive the GS cookies into the office (too many to carry on the train), going to Katz's deli for lunch and Carlos' Bakery for breakfast. Katz's makes the best pastrami sandwiches in the world. If anyone is in Manhattan and wants pastrami, go to Katz's on the lower east side. Yummmmm. And it's the home of the famous deli scene from "When Harry Met Sally". They even have a sign pointing to the table.
And we're going to Carlos' this morning because DD loves "Cake Boss" and it's on our way into the city. There goes my diet! Between girl scout cookies, pastrami and an amazing Italian bakery, I'm screwed!! I think I'll probably end up putting back on those 3 pounds I lost. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

As we were putting up our outside Christmas lights yesterday, it was about 70 degrees, I couldn't believe it was Nov. 14. Which lead to "that's really close to Nov. 28". Then it was like I got hit with a bolt of energy. I got so much done yesterday my head is still spinning.

I CAN'T WAIT!!!!!:dance3:

You're making me feel like I'm so far behind! :scared: :rotfl: I just packed one DD's suitcase... uggh! I'm really hoping for 80 degree weather atleast since that's how I'm packing! I am so jealous about your decorating! I still can't figure out what to get the kids for Christmas this year! I am just so far behind!:scared1:

But I am also so darn excited I'm surprised I can even sleep!:cheer2:

Unfortunately when you're in the financial industry and the jobs are scarce in this day and age, you bring the dang thing. Usually I don't but there is stuff going on at the national level that I really need to keep abreast of. Fortunately, or unfortunately, I'm the expert for the firm. I guess it's job security but it stinks having to be connected 24/7. :sad2:
Hence the reason I will look at it in the evening, on the verandah, after DD is asleep. :thumbsup2

my DH is the same way - but even his boss is saying don't take it

he has been leading a special project and has so much overtime in he doesn't need to yous vacation days for this vk:yay:

his boss is worried about burn out

well i am sure that we will all make sure you enjoy yourself way to much to so that what necessary work you need to get done doesn't ruin your vk:hug:

No upgrade here either. I guess I shot myself in the foot by not doing GTY. Booked a specific Cat 11 (18 months ago) in order to be mid-ship on the 6th floor. I've been at ends of the ship and/or low dawn and had seasickness issues. Now I'm rethinking but I guess it's too late. I didn't realize how prevalent upgrades were on the Disney ship. So, we're still Cat 11. Maybe we'll ask if there are upgrades available at port...

Well...I'm proud of myself. Got the DD's packed! Now it's on to me! That'll be tough! I was hoping to get the 4 of us in 3 suitcases but that isn't going to happen. I thought there would be extra room in the girl's bags...NOPE! I know everyone says not to overpack but I really don't think I did. Just need bigger suitcases that all!:rolleyes1

Sorry. I don't mean to. I have been in college for the last four years and just had a ten week break. It is amazing how much I can get done when not in school. Just excited and I am trying to fill time.
