How do you know this is a legit thing?Just curious because it sounds great, but I'm a little leery that someone is just getting money and stuff sent to them.Do you all know the ones who are doing this? Are you just using faith? What?

I'm creating my own care package. I'm not sending money to anyone.

If someone wants to lie just to get lip balm and sunscreen delievered to them in Kuwait then, I think they must need it pretty badly.

I feel confident that my care package is going to a soldier, but I could be wrong.

WHAT?

I'm confused - what's the scam in sending "care" packages to soldiers in Kuwait. What could anyone possibly want with toiletries? Of course, I wouldn't send cash. Is there another program that I'm not aware of?

Minniecarousel:
There was a section where you could send a check and they will make up the package and send it for you.

I wasn't trying to slam the program,I was very interested in doing it actually.I was just thinking of all the scams you hear about after the fact.

Honestly, I followed a link and thought I was signing up to send a package to a specific soldier. My e-mail back asked for a check now I am:confused:

LvsTnk when you request a name I think your are automatically added to their mailing list. I have already recieved my name but I did get an email today asking for donations. There are so many service men and women that it looks like they make up care packages as well.

I posted a link the other day, to the USO site. You can send donations to make up care packages for the soldiers. Some people would prefer to do that, rather than buy their own stuff and ship it. And I think it probably gets to the soldiers faster.

The USO has been around for a long, long time, and is completely legitimate. They do great work!

So, should I make a donation or will I still recieve a name? Thanks:)

I heard about operation Military Pride from someone who runs a joke website who is an ex-Marine. Every Christmas he runs a "Let's Bring Em' Home" project and he collects money and airplane miles to bring soldiers home for the holidays. Anyway, in the email he sent to his subscribers about sending care packages he gives Arlyn's name and her website and mentions that she's been doing this since 1995 and that she supported his Let's Bring Em' HOme project. So he decided to return the favor to support her program. Hopefully this will ease some doubt.

LvsTnk--you might want to check you e-mails again to see if there is one with the name. I requested a couple of names and got 2 e-mails, one with the names and another with a donation request.

Got my soldiers!!:D

Now I hope I can follow all the instructions correctly!!;)

Thanks

I just got e-mail today from my Col. friend. :) He says they are a legitimate organization and thought it would be a good project for DS. :teeth:
