Not sure $149 Disney After Hrs event is doing well... (ETA: reviews in 1st post)

Right, but now multiply your per night times 6.
You didn't see the value in paying 6x per night for accommodations, so you chose to stay at Pop...someone else did, they stayed at Poly or GF.
And I'm sure you both had wonderful vacations!
Both scenarios paid what they were willing to pay.
We stayed at Pop for four nights and then far superior lodging for the same price elsewhere. I agree that it's all about value and those of us saying that the price for the party is obscene just don't see the value.

It is not off topic at all. It is directly related to claiming something as "too much money" or "obscene" or however you wish to classify it.

A sale is in essence - A transfer of emotions.

So because of this everyone's perceived value and willingness to pay depends on that individual's emotions.

Please tell me that you can see for yourself the absurdity of you trying to make this point now, after spending half the thread trying to convince everyone that one gets what one pays for, and no possible emotions (say, from realizing many others had gotten the same thing for free) could possibly affect the value of that experience.

I don't know what the absurdity would be. At all. This entire time has been about value vs no value. Never once have I said that people do not purchase something due to emotion. I said to get emotional and demand a refund, because someone else was gifted something that you were not, is an invalid request.

But please, feel free to quote me accurately :)

A person can take a serious look at the service and decide that being charged an arm and a leg for something is ridiculous when others are getting in free. At least I can see that particularly for larger groups.

I realize that people say that you get the value even if you pay but there's that question of value again...

Right..
If you receive poor service- value is diminished.
If you receive defective item- value is diminished.
Because someone else received something for free, at random, which was not advertised- does not diminish value.

A company has a right to gift something to those of it's choosing. As long as they adhere to the experience/item/etc that you are paying for, then there is no credible reason why said company should issue a refund.

There's probably 5 pages of that convo.lol. And people won't agree, but it's basic business sense and well within a business' rights.

ETA- IF free tickets were advertised at the last minute, to the public, and anyone could get them, then I would agree with you.

It's well within a business' rights - I don't argue that. However a business also has to consider reputation and appearance. If a business appears to favor one particular group over another that never seems to fly well and that's even true for those companies at the top. It's never wise to anger or even just annoy customers because over time that can cause issues.

ETA - I refer more to AoA guests getting free passes than DVC members. Many people have asked why not their resort.

Just as it's well within the rights of consumers to not buy products that are overpriced or being given away in large numbers for free.

Oh wait, that's what's happening.

Assuming wdwinfo maintains the park hours calendars, i.e. doesn't revert to originally-published hours after a month is over, May 2015 has MK closing at 10 PM every day but three: May 22 was 24 hours, May 30 it stayed open until 1, and May 31 it closed at 7 http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/hours/may15.cfm. In contrast, there are currently 14 midnight closings, twelve 11 PM closings, and only five nights where it's closing at 10 http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/hours/may16.cfm
Yes, there's no Easter in May. Easter, and now Spring Break in the northeast (where it counts :D) are over and those hours can't be extended retroactively. Whether TPTB are listening, or whether this was planned doesn't matter. Park hours aren't cut for the month with the most DAH.

You are correct! Total available hours in 2016 vs 2015 is up 4.84%. This is good! This is better than the cut hours in March and April!

On the DOWN side though... unless I made a mistake, actual EMH are actually down 21.43% yer over year... so total PARK hours were not cut, but EMH are. Still it's a good sign. Maybe as you say TPTB listened to the complaints from March and April. We will see!

No one has to pay for anything that they don't want to pay for. That point has been made several times over. This is not a mandatory charge or event if you choose to go to WDW.
The people who did pay for this experience and reported back, seem to definitely feel that their money spent was worth it. That's what matters.

Any theories as to why this event is offered on every Thursday in April and May except the last Thursday in May, the 26th?

Do we know, or anyone know, the amount of tickets that were sold and those that were gifted? I read on another thread that someone tried to purchase last minute and that they were sold out...probably after giving away tickets, but either way that person was not able to obtain one.
Also, regarding AoA- has anyone read a review or post of someone staying there who went to the event for "free"? How many were offered at AoA? I haven't seen any, as opposed to quite a few DVC members who attended.

Disney doesn't release numbers so anything you find is a guess.

Have you seen any first hand accounts from AoA guests? I'm just curious to where the speculation of a majority or even half of the tickets were given away. I haven't read any besides DVC people. I'm so curious to know how this event is actually doing.

Someone reported they had a friend who worked at one of the resorts and they were indeed randomly handing out free tickets.

I was staying at CSR not AoA. Had friends staying at AoA. None were offered comp event tickets. Also had several DVC friends on site and most of them didn't get the email. As I mentioned early on in the thread, I'm not sure how the invites were decided.

Saw reports on fb from 2 families, I think one was comped and the other paid (but I didn't ask). They loved it. One family posted pictures of themselves and cm as only people on attraction. Another picture on Buzz with all empty cars in front of them.

Today, catching up on this thread is the first I heard about comp tickets at AoA.

As I said before, I won't pay to do this, but if it's offered to me complimentary, I will gladly accept!
