Not ready yet???!!! A February trip report! Update 10/25 Day 9

That was cool that the MM&Y played after Wishes and you had a great spot to view them from.

Can't believe Mousekeeping were trying to kick you out of your room early :sad2: GF Cafe for breakfast is lovely isn't it and the eggs benedict is soooo good :)

Really? Mousekeeping after not being able to get your room done for you... NOW they show up bright and early? How RUDE!!!

Hi Karin

I have been so behind in my subscribed threads but am spending the morning trying to catch up.

I love your pictures from the dessert party. :thumbsup2

February seems like such a nice time to visit.

Tell me about it, Sophia! After being away for 4 weeks it took me "a while" to catch up too!

We loved the dessert party - we have been a few times and never had a bad experience, and since we are a party of two we always got a front row table! :thumbsup2

The weather in February is so much nicer than in August, but we always have to travel during Presidents week - so it is PACKED!!!!!!!!!!!

Mousekeeping knocked on our door asking when we were leaving too. I found it very annoying the first time but we told them we would be leaving around 9. About 20 minutes later they knocked again and asked when we were leaving. I know they want to clean the rooms but I found it a bit pushy.

Your breakfast looks very good.:thumbsup2

We have had mousekeeping knocking and asking when we were ready to leave too, but it was just so weird, that after a week where they never showed up before 4pm they were now here literally at the crack of dawn and kind of throwing us out.
I had to let them know that check-out is at 11am and we were NOT READY to leave YET!!!!!!!!!! :rotfl2:

Breakfast at the GFC was wonderful! :thumbsup2

I can not even beleive that Mousekeeper was there then.
I would've complained...after the week you had with her already.
It really irks me when they are seeing when you are going to leave. When we were there in April the front desk called as I was rushing around trying to get us all out and to our ADR. They just asked if we stil lplanned to leave...Um yes. I only paid for 1 day, why the heck are you calling me? LOL!

Well, we actually let them know that we were not going to leave that soon, in a friendly kind of way.
I do understand that they need to get the rooms ready for new guests, but since we could not use ours on the first day until 8pm which is WAY past their check in time, we weren't in any kind of a rush. :goodvibes

Mousekeeping knocked on our door on check out day also. I was quite surprised to see her at the door. We weren't leaving on ME until 6pm so were in hurry to leave the room.

It seems that this is something new that Mousekeeping is doing.

I don't think it's a new thing, as we have experienced it quite a few times now. I usually do not mind and we put out the "do not disturb" sign and they just pass us by, but I was really stunned at how they knock early in the morning, when they otherwise didn't care to clean our room before the late afternoon. :sad2:
But the fun thing was, that when it happened I knew what the title for this trip report would be! :rotfl2:

I actually could not believe it when they announced that they had solved the problems and were going to show it in a couple minutes! We were really lucky with the spot we were watching it from too! :thumbsup2

Well, Mousekeeping on that trip was a whole new experience. :lmao: I know, they have lots of rooms to clean, and sometimes they are running late - but a whole week long? And then showing up early in the morning, checking out if we wanted to leave a little earlier?
Stefy, you need to try the Lobster Eggs Benedict at the GFC - they are divine! :cloud9:

Really? Mousekeeping after not being able to get your room done for you... NOW they show up bright and early? How RUDE!!!

Yip, after a week of NOT showing up until the LATE afternoon they show up real early to compliment us out! :rotfl2:
But it gave me a good title for the trip report, didn't it? ;)

Day 8, February 26

Crowds, two parks, flowers, lots of food and a plane ride home - Part 2

There were large crowds of people, both at the security check and at the turnstiles. But nevertheless we wanted to try any way. We joined a queue for the security check and were through it within a few minutes, then it was on to join another queue in front of the turnstiles.
Once we were inside we were amazed at how many people were at the Magic Kingdom.
We walked over to the tip board and lines were already long, so we went over towards Adventureland, but it was packed, over to Frontierland and it was packed and so was Liberty Square and Fantasyland. We stopped for a while to check out what was being advertised for the new Fantasyland Expansion

but there was no ride we could get on in just a few minutes, so we quickly talked about what to do and then walked towards Tomorrowland and over to the PeopleMover. There was a line getting on, but everyone was happy and smiling and even though we knew we had to go home that day we were happy too.

While on the ride we talked about how we would spend the next 4 hours and we didn’t see much to do there, so why not get back on the Monorail and ride it over to Epcot. So this is what we did. We made our way back to the exit, vowing to be back to properly say goodbye to the castle.

IMG_0079.jpg

There were not many people leaving the Magic Kingdom at that time, so the ride back to the Ticket and Transportation Center was a quiet one.

We changed Monorails and within a short time we were at Epcot. There were crowds too. The line for Spaceship Earth snaked around both sides of the ride.

But when we got up to the fountain we saw that they had added quite a few more topiaries for the Flower and Garden Festival. So we knew we were on a mission to find as many as we could and to take as many photos as possible.

They had added a few around the fountain, Winnie the Pooh and his playful friends were towards the bridge that leads to World Showcase and we decided to take a leisurely stroll around World Showcase before having to get back to the Magic Kingdom.

I swear, on most of our last days, especially ones at MK, the park seems to have twice as many crowds. Don't these people know I have to ride my rides one last time? :rotfl:

I hope you got your proper farewell to MK.... seems so sad to have come and went so quick.:sad2:

I can deal with "some" crowds, but that day it was insane ..... and as much as I love the MK, there were FAR too many people in there, so we fled! :lmao:
And since I couldn't ride my favourite MK rides one more time we decided to eat some "favourites" again. :rotfl2:

I hope you got your proper farewell to MK.... seems so sad to have come and went so quick.:sad2:

We did get to say goodbye to the castle as every year in the end, but enjoyed some time at Epcot too!
I agree with you, that week was kind of was over once it began. :sad2: Time just flies by even faster at WDW! :rolleyes1

I am, as always, enjoying your trip report!
I thought of you both today when I was driving home from a weekend visit with a friend and passed a Krispy Kreme with the HOT sign on! I pulled in and bought a dozen glazed donuts and a coffee and as I drove down the highway I ate the warm bundle of perfection while grinning. Out loud I said "To Karin and Tom!" and sipped the delicious coffee. :thumbsup2 My DH was very happy to see me but the KK Halloween themed box of donuts sweetened the moment! ;)

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I just love to be associated with KK! Thank you for making me laugh tonight!

7:30am Mousekeeping?!?!?! That's absurd! I thought they didn't start until 8am!

Karin...totally off topic, but I have someone who is interested in making those tissue holders you made for your FE gift. Do you have a pattern you can share?
Maybe if I feel like learning a new skill...I could learn to make them as well. :confused3

Karin!!! I can't believe I come back just as your TR's ending. I'm going to try to catch up as soon as possible!

I've missed you and your TRs

You know, I'm always thinking of you and can't wait till the day we can meet again and share a dole whip. :flower3:

EDIT

Day 6:
Wow, DHS sure was packed that day! It's awesome that you didn't have to wait long for ToT though. I've figured that there are pockets in the day where there is hardly any wait for that ride!

Ooh, the BatB show! It's been a while since I saw that too. I'm so sad that 4 for a dollar don't come out anymore.

Mmmm, Starring Rolls sandwiches....they're so yummy and juicy and refreshing! So great that a table opened up just in time for you guys.

I was in NYC this past August and as soon as we saw Bubba Gump's at Times Square, I KNEW I had to eat there! I've always wanted to go ever since I first read about it on your TR.I'm not a fan of coconut shrimp generally, but the Bubba Gump one is sooo crisp and crunchy that I loved it! I knew I had to try it because you always get it, haha.

Woooow, nice new D&B bags! Love the one with the stripes. I'm really hoping that the 40th anniversary bags return to the website soon...it's the only way I can get myself one!

Day 7:
Oooh, breakfast looks really good! You know, I've started ordering eggs benedict for breakfast because of you too! Before reading your TRs, I've never tried it, but because you order it so much, I had to try it for myself. I love the Hollandaise sauce.

So many rides on EE! I love the front row for the view, but for me, being in the middle is the best. I love watching the people in front of me when they see the broken track for the first time!

Aww, too bad Tom got sunburnt. That pool time sounded very nice.

I can't believe I never thought to ask, but what kind of drinks do they serve at the Dessert party? Thanks for all those great pictures, I can't wait until I get to go one day!

Are you pretty much forced to leave after the fireworks? How long after are you allowed to stay?

Ooooh, I wonder if they'll still have that castle show when I'm there in 2013. It looks very cool.

Day 8:
Your last day! MK seems very fitting as a final goodbye to WDW. I love that even though it's your last day, you're still more than happy to be there! Reading about that just makes me so happy.

Awww, that topiary of Rabbit is so cute!

Ok, can't wait for the last of your updates!

Okay - NOW Mousekeeping is early? That "takes the cake"

I wonder why the huge crowds at two parks that day? Must be the start of F&W? :confused3

So sad that this trip is over, but now there's another one to 'go on' so It's all good. :thumbsup2

:sad2: NOOOO I hate that!

Me too! I want time to fly by UP to the trip, but once we are gone I want it to stop ....... haven't figured out yet how to do that. :confused3 :lmao:

7:30am Mousekeeping?!?!?! That's absurd! I thought they didn't start until 8am!

We were stunned too! I never expected them to come out that early, but maybe they wanted to make up on "lost time" in our room! :rotfl2:
Unfortunately we weren't ready then!

Karin...totally off topic, but I have someone who is interested in making those tissue holders you made for your FE gift. Do you have a pattern you can share?
Maybe if I feel like learning a new skill...I could learn to make them as well. :confused3

Jen, I apologize, I haven't had time to respond to you, but I will send you a description on how to make them. I never thought they would become so popular I needed to WRITE a description - I just "invented" them while knitting! :lmao:
They ARE very easy to make - you can easily do that! :thumbsup2

Karin!!! I can't believe I come back just as your TR's ending. I'm going to try to catch up as soon as possible!

I've missed you and your TRs

Missed you too!

You know, I'm always thinking of you and can't wait till the day we can meet again and share a dole whip. :flower3:

Day 6:
Wow, DHS sure was packed that day! It's awesome that you didn't have to wait long for ToT though. I've figured that there are pockets in the day where there is hardly any wait for that ride!

I think crowds have gone down considerably at the ToT since they opened TSM - I don't mind, I LOVE riding the Tower!

Ooh, the BatB show! It's been a while since I saw that too. I'm so sad that 4 for a dollar don't come out anymore.

Mmmm, Starring Rolls sandwiches....they're so yummy and juicy and refreshing! So great that a table opened up just in time for you guys.

:woohoo: I am so glad you enjoyed Bubba Gump and especially my beloved Coconut Shrimp! :cloud9:

Woooow, nice new D&B bags! Love the one with the stripes. I'm really hoping that the 40th anniversary bags return to the website soon...it's the only way I can get myself one!

I just love my Dooneys. They are my big downfall! :lmao: Have you seen the comic ones that are coming or already out? I guess I need a new one. And wait until you see the ones I bought while on the DREAM. :rotfl2:

Day 7:
Oooh, breakfast looks really good! You know, I've started ordering eggs benedict for breakfast because of you too! Before reading your TRs, I've never tried it, but because you order it so much, I had to try it for myself. I love the Hollandaise sauce.

I can't believe I never thought to ask, but what kind of drinks do they serve at the Dessert party? Thanks for all those great pictures, I can't wait until I get to go one day!

If I remember correctly, they have tea and coffee, water, lemonade and some pink lemonade.

Are you pretty much forced to leave after the fireworks? How long after are you allowed to stay?

They do not "throw" you out after the party. We were always invited to "clear" any desserts still on the buffet, but the spot clears out pretty soon - there are only so many desserts you can eat! ;)

Ooooh, I wonder if they'll still have that castle show when I'm there in 2013. It looks very cool.

Day 8:

That one week in February always goes by so quickly, but since we have a summer trip to look forward too, it makes going back home not all that hard.

Okay - NOW Mousekeeping is early? That "takes the cake"

I wonder why the huge crowds at two parks that day? Must be the start of F&W? :confused3

It was like a joke, when they knocked and asked if we were ready to leave! :rotfl2: I think Tom and I just burst into laughter! :lmao:

There was the Princess marathon on that weekend (I think Princess, but I am sure it was a marathon! :lmao:) so that explains the crowds. It will be on again next February as well, but since we will spend 4 nights on the DREAM and stay at BLT I don't think we have to worry too much. We'll find SOME kind of occupation!

Just back from the Dream on Oct 20th! I started my TR here:http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2820800

Christine

Thanks Christine! I have been over and subscribed! LOVE it!

Day 8, February 26

Crowds, two parks, flowers, lots of food and a plane ride home - Part 3

They had added a few around the fountain, Winnie the Pooh and his playful friends were towards the bridge that leads to World Showcase and we decided to take a leisurely stroll around World Showcase before having to get back to the Magic Kingdom.
We walked to our left and walked right into Mexico. We visited the Pavillion again, had a good look around the market inside and watched the artists paint a few more animals before we headed to their neighbours, Norway.
Looking around we did not find anything new, so off to China we went. We thought about getting some lunch there, but the little restaurant was packed, so we just moved on.
We crossed the bridge over to Germany and there were new topiaries.

SnowWhite and the seven dwarfs.
We waited our turn to take some photos and then moved towards the shops. Since we had enjoyed the caramel popcorn so much earlier in the week we picked up a small bag of it and a piece of the caramel and marshmallow roll. The caramel popcorn got stowed away and we saved the roll for dessert.
But first we needed to find some lunch. We’re both not huge fans of the German restaurants, so we walked on, went past Italy and finally knew what we wanted to try.
The Liberty Inn in the World Showcase America had a new designer burger. Tom still didn’t feel perfectly alright so we decided to share

an Angus burger topped with smoked ham, bacon, smoked Gouda cheese, red onion, tomato, pickle, lettuce and mustard aioli sauce. The burger itself was nice and tasty but the bun was dry and fell apart as soon as you picked it up.
There was more than enough for both of us to share and instead of dessert I tried

IMG_0099.jpg

the Caramel-Marshmallow roll I had bought at the Karamell Kueche. It was very good, but very sweet.
Once we had finished our meal we walked back outside and continued our walk around the world, by snapping more photos of new topiaries that had been put up. There was Aladdin on a flying carpet in Morocco

and the enchanted characters from Beauty and the Beast in France.
