Not ready yet???!!! A February trip report! Update 10/25 Day 9

Someday I hope to do the Dessert party. Your photos (as always) are so enticing!! How is the view of Wishes during the party?

That sucks they canceled the show. So you missed it entirely?

We really enjoy the Dessert Party - mostly because I have a very sweet tooth, :rotfl2:
As for watching Wishes, you need to go up to the railings, otherwise the ceiling is in the way and the fireworks are slightly to the side of the castle, not right behind it. I LOVE watching it from Main Street, so for us it's not the best view, but it makes a nice change and you can easily find a nice spot at the railing.

We were totally bummed when they announced that they had to cancel the show, especially since the weather was perfectly nice, but we got to see it in the end. ;) :thumbsup2

Why did they cancel the Memories?? It's the best show ever!!! I can't wait to see it again with my whole family next month- I think even Pods will be impressed. :thumbsup2 You did see it on the last trip I hope!:goodvibes

They cancelled it because of technical difficulties. We were SO not happy, but we got to see it in the end and it was a total surprise, so we were over the moon!
Can you believe that in 17 nights at WDW, we didn't see it ONCE? Yeah, we were really bad when it came to fireworks last summer! :sad2:

Ah...the Wishes dessert party. Looks great. Just wait for my impressions of the whole thing. :lmao: And you gotta the love the People Mover. :thumbsup2

Mmmm, the Wishes dessert party. One of my favorite things to do! Disney and dessert are my two favorite things, so what's better than putting them together?

Okay Karin STOP !!:rotfl2:Now I am definately gonna have to figure in the dessert party on another trip!!Thanks to you we have ressies at Olivias for next Tuesday !!!!:banana:Question does the Eggs benedict come with brekfast potatoes or not ????

Wow, the desserts look so delicious. I do hope to do this someday as well.
I was able to see the memories show this summer and it was so amazing. I wish I would've taken the time to do so in the Spring with Claire. I think she would've loved it too.

Great update :thumbsup2 Dessert Party looks great, shame about the MM&Y show being cancelled. But I am sure you will see it plenty very soon :)

It was a great party, desserts and all, unfortunately as you know it was our last evening at Disney last February! :scared1:

Yip, we LOVE the Peoplemover! :rotfl2: You can sit, you can people watch ......... and ............ it's dark, so very easy to take 40 winks!

Wow! I gained 5 lbs just looking at those pics lol:rotfl:

Then imagine HOW MUCH we would have gained if there WERE calories at Disney - thankfully, all that pixie dust makes them disappear! :rotfl2:

We just love the party - such a nice change of scenery for watching the fireworks. Not the best view point but more than okay if you hand me lots of sweets too! :rotfl2:

No stopping me, Rosie! I have more adventures and food to post! :rotfl2:
You definitely have to try to figure in the party some time! The desserts are good and plentyful!
:woohoo: for breakfast aat Olivia's - and yes, the Eggs Benedict come with Olivia's potatoes! :thumbsup2

It was a wonderful evening and the party was so worth going! :thumbsup2 And there was another announcement about the MM&Y a little while later! ;)

Day 7, February 25

Call of the wild and Mater calls from the pool and yummy desserts are calling our name - Part 6

Shortly before the fireworks were going to start everyone got up and moved forward towards the railing and so did we.
We were able to squeeze in and score a nice spot to watch the fireworks,

which were wonderful and breathtaking as always, but I still prefer to view them from Main Street where you have a straighter view of the castle and the fireworks. Once the fireworks were over, most of the tables had already been cleared, but there were still plenty of desserts on the buffet for people to indulge in, if they still wanted some.
Just before Tom and I were about to leave the Tomorrowland Terrace there was another announcement.
The “The Magic, the Memories and You” show would be shown in about 10 minutes. :woohoo: Technical problems solved!!!! Now that was a pleasant surprise and we asked the Cast Members working at the Terrace if it was possible to watch from there and while they were willing to let us stay there, one of the managers explained that we would have a much better view of it, if we had a direct view of the projected objects from somewhere closer to Main Street.
We thanked her for her advice and walked over towards Main Street, just to find it pretty packed. So we walked back to where the last tables of the ice-cream parlour were and had a pretty good and straight view of the castle and the show.

It was a really nice show and it was amazing to see so many things being projected onto the castle. Even though it is not an awfully long show, there are lots of images to take in during the show.
Once it was over we talked about going to Epcot and we both mentioned that we just didn’t feel like the Extra Magic Hours in Epcot. Tom didn’t feel well altogether and I was just tired and still had some packing to do.
So we decided that instead of enjoying the Epcot Extra Magic Hours we would stay at the Magic Kingdom to watch the second run of the Main Street Electrical Parade. We strolled through the Magic Kingdom for quite some time before we found a nice spot near the bridge close to the Christmas Store. There were not too many people waiting at that spot and we had a good time watching our favourite parade.

And when it was finally over it was time for us to head back to our car. We still had to get back to Epcot, as our car was parked there, so we got on the Express Monorail to the Ticket and Transportation Center.
Once there we walked over to the Epcot Monorail and after about 10 minutes we were able to get on a Monorail which took us back to Epcot. When we arrived at Epcot the Extra Magic Hours were already in full swing, but since we didn’t feel like it, we just got on a tram that took us back to the parking lot.
The drive back to the resort was uneventful and after we had parked the car, we slowly walked back to our room. We crashed on the beds and watched a little TV before we finally gave in and fell asleep.

I love the castle pics; not only of the fireworks, but of the show! :thumbsup2 I am glad you got to watch it after all!!

There should be a disclaimer on your trip reports "Warning: hunger provoking pictures ahead; pregnant women and individuals who are hungry should view this trip report with caution!" I'm really enjoying your trip report. My hubby and I were there just a few weeks before you and the weather was not as warm. I look forward to reading the rest! Although the cravings may be the death of me :)

Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Karin, your last night was so delicious!:cloud9: I was wondering if you got good desserts, and if your viewing spot was actually good - questions answered. Were you able to go to the ice cream tables because you had the Wishes Dessert? That area has always been roped off when I've seen it. I am hoping to book this event for my family in 2013.

Funny that your room was ready on the last afternoon! I wonder if you could put in your room request that it be serviced early in the day? With DVC, they don't do it for you except on the 4th day unless you pay for it and order it, so I would insist on early if you are paying for it.

I am glad you like the pics! We were over the top happy when they announced that they were going to still do the show! It was really wonderful to watch. :thumbsup2

I might consider a warning label on my trip reports, :lmao: but am very glad you like it so far!
This was the third time we went in February and the previous years it never was that warm. We were happy to have packed our swimsuits in the first place! ;)
You know that I have started my trip report for our summer trip Aug/September 2011? If not ....... lots of food pics as well! :rotfl2:

Our last full day was really a wonderful one.
The ice-cream tables were not roped off at all. And we were some of the last people to leave the Tomorrowland Terrace after the party - so NO, it was not because of the Dessert Party.
But the party itself is such a nice change from being inside a huge crowd watching the fireworks from Main Street (even though Main Street remains my favourite spot to watch it!)
Well, it was only ready around the LATE afternoon, but by that time we didn't expect it to be ready earlier. Sad thing though, as it really put us off of booking CSR in the near future. The resort it absolutely beautiful, but the lack of "earlier" housekeeping really didn't sit well with us.
I know that being DVC we don't get housekeeping and I am okay with that - it's a different style of vacation and in our villas at DLRP we don't have housekeeping either. But if I stay at a hotel and "pay" for housekeeping with my rate than I really would love to see it done earlier in the day! ;)

Day 8, February 26

Crowds, two parks, flowers, lots of food and a plane ride home - Part 1

Our last day had dawned!

We had planned on having an early breakfast at the Contemporary at The Wave. But with Tom having suffered from too much sun the day before we decided to sleep in a bit instead.
So we got up shortly after 7am and started to pack up the rest of our stuff, when at 7.30 there was a knock at the door. Our first thought was that it could only be Tina as no one else knew where we stayed.

Imagine our surprise when we opened the door and there was Mousekeeping in front of the door, asking if we were ready to leave yet! :scared1:

No, we are NOT ready yet to leave, now, WE will take some time until we are ready to vacate the room. :rolleyes1

We were finally ready to head out the door at around 9am. All our stuff was loaded into the car, one last walk around the room and a walk over to the lake before we finally walked over to the car, got in and off we went.
We had cancelled our reservation at The Wave, as Tom just didn’t feel like it, but since we needed to have some breakfast we drove over to the Polynesian to find out if we could have breakfast at the Kona Café.
Car parked we headed up to the check in desk where there was a long line. Once at the front of the line we asked and without a reservation we were told it would be around an hour’s wait. Thanks but no thanks, so we went over to the Monorail to ride it over to the Grand Floridian, to find out if we could try our luck at the Grand Floridian Café.
When we walked outside that a Monorail was already inside the station and the Cast Member there even opened the gates for us again to still get on. One more stop later we got off again and went downstairs to the Grand Floridian Café. We asked about a table for two and were told that it would be a 15 minute wait.
That was really okay with us and we took our buzzer and went over to the stores to do some window shopping. We had not even seen half of the tiny shop when the buzzer went off. So we made our way back to the check-in desk, where a friendly Cast Member was already waiting for us to take us to our table. We were seated at a small table next to a huge family with very well behaved children.
Our server was quick to visit our table and we both placed our drinks orders,

some coffee for Tom and

IMG_0047.jpg

some tea for me. Thankfully in a resort like the Grand Floridian, you get a choice of tea and I chose my favourite, Earl Grey Tea.
While our server went to fetch our drinks we had a good look at the menu and made our mind up about what to order. I love everything and anything citrus and

IMG_0051.jpg

they offer a Seasonal Citrus Salad, so we ordered one to start our, or mostly my meal off. Tom ordered

IMG_0056.jpg

the Eggs Benedict - Two Poached Eggs on a Toasted English Muffin, Canadian Bacon, and Hollandaise Sauce served with Asparagus. I wanted to try

IMG_0053.jpg

IMG_0054.jpg

the Lobster Eggs Benedict - Two Poached Eggs, Lobster Bread Pudding, Asparagus, and Hollandaise Sauce.
I had read about them some time before and the idea of having lobster for breakfast sounded just too tempting. Both breakfasts lived up to our expectations. Since Tom still wasn’t feeling all well we took our time and once we had finished our meal, we paid our bill and used the elevator to get up to the Monorail.
We always spend our last day at the Magic Kingdom and that is what we wanted to do. The next Monorail was there in just a few minutes and we were on our way to the Magic Kingdom in no time. When we arrived there we were shocked. There were large crowds of people, both at the security check and at the turnstiles.

Hi Karin

I have been so behind in my subscribed threads but am spending the morning trying to catch up.

I love your pictures from the dessert party. :thumbsup2

February seems like such a nice time to visit.

Mousekeeping knocked on our door asking when we were leaving too. I found it very annoying the first time but we told them we would be leaving around 9. About 20 minutes later they knocked again and asked when we were leaving. I know they want to clean the rooms but I found it a bit pushy.

Your breakfast looks very good.:thumbsup2

I can not even beleive that Mousekeeper was there then.
I would've complained...after the week you had with her already.
It really irks me when they are seeing when you are going to leave. When we were there in April the front desk called as I was rushing around trying to get us all out and to our ADR. They just asked if we stil lplanned to leave...Um yes. I only paid for 1 day, why the heck are you calling me? LOL!

Mousekeeping knocked on our door on check out day also. I was quite surprised to see her at the door. We weren't leaving on ME until 6pm so were in hurry to leave the room.

It seems that this is something new that Mousekeeping is doing.
