Not ready yet???!!! A February trip report! Update 10/25 Day 9

Hi Karin

That caramel thing looks devine! My mouth started to water when I read about it.

I love all of the topieries, especially the ones from Beauty and the Beast, which is my favorite Disney movie ever. :lovestruc

Karin I am going to have to look for those Carmel treats next time I go to EPCOT! ( hopefully in Sept or Oct, if we are lucky). And I love the topiaries too, especially all the Beauty and the Beast characters! I always watch the show at DHS! Mick knows the songs by heart now!!! :) OhioDisneyLover and I have one more thing in common!

That is so funny I have the sound track too, my DH got it for me when I worked night shift in the file room and I could play it loud since I was the only one there!
I have been wanting to get my picture with Bell and/or the Beast but haven't gotten the chance.

The topiarys are beautiful.

The caramel... oh my goodness. I LOVE caramel. I think more than chocolate. yes, more than chocolate.... that roll looks amazing!!!

Those topiaries are beautiful! We saw some a few years back during the flower and garden festival. I so wanted to go to Epcot this trip but I had made my ressies for HS and couldn't get the ones I wanted for Epcot. I was on a really tight budget and would have loved the Food and Wine. We have a similar thing here at our Zoo in August called Zoo A la Carte.

I still didn't make it to Starring Rolls either but did finally go to WPE and Earl of Sandwich!

That caramel marshmellow roll looks really good! I have never seen that there before.

Love the pictures of the topiaries. I do love Epcot during F&G.

It was so much fun to see more and more topiaries every day - we really enjoyed it!
As for the caramel roll, it was very nice, but pretty sweet, given that it was filled with marshmallow cream. ;)

They have TOO many things that look yum at the German pavillion, Teri! Just take your time and talk to the CMs there, they are very helpful.
We have seen BATB on Broadway and it was amazing! Seeing it at DHS brings back very fond memories!

I know, Rosie, I am so NOT happy with their healthy options, which are not more healthy than the old rolls they had.
I think the roastbeef sandwich is gone from the menu, Rosie - we wanted to try that and it was no longer there! :sad2:

We will have to hunt Belle down when we are on that cruise together, Teri! She will NOT be able to escape out on the open seas.

We loved the fact that we got to see so many topiaries! It was just amazing.

Ann, you definitely have to spend a few of those snack credits in Germany! ;) Try the caramel popcorn if you haven't already! :thumbsup2

We are always travelling the same week in February and this time was the first time they had so many topiaries already up! It was amazing to see them all!
Hope you liked WPE and EoS! Just put Starring Rolls on your list next time you go back to WDW! :thumbsup2

They have always had the caramel marshmellow roll when we were there. But there are so many things, it's easy to overlook something! :lmao:

Day 8, February 26

Crowds, two parks, flowers, lots of food and a plane ride home - Part 4

There was Aladdin on a flying carpet in Morocco and the enchanted characters from Beauty and the Beast in France. Over in Britain we found Peter Pan and Captain Hook and their favourite crocodile.

Time was running out, since we wanted to go back to the Magic Kingdom, so we continued on

towards Spaceship Earth, hoping that maybe the line would be short and we would be able to ride it.

IMG_0110.jpg

No such luck, the line was pretty long and so we said goodbye to Epcot and headed over to the Monorail. Tronorail was just pulling out

IMG_0111.jpg

and we slowly crept up to the loading area, found a spot to wait for the next one and waited, and waited and waited some more.
Finally the next Monorail pulled in, we grabbed a seat and off we went. At the Ticket and Transportation Center we changed Monorails and soon were on our way to the Magic Kingdom.
We usually spend our last day at the Magic Kingdom, so we wanted to end our trip with our traditional last park of a vacation. There were long lines at the security checks and again long lines at the turnstiles as well. It was getting pretty late for us, but we wanted to at least walk along Main Street before heading to the airport.

DSC_0551.jpg

So we walked along Main Street and found some Photopass photographers to snap a few last pictures of us. When we were up at the Partners statue we asked a nice Photopass girl to take our photo and she did and we got into a little conversation and mentioned that we were on our way home.

But she did not let us go without a few fun shots and after we were done with those, we headed back to the exit, waved goodbye to the castle, walked under the railway station and left the park.
We hopped on the next Monorail over to the Polynesian where are car was still parked. Once we were there, we walked around the resort one last time, used the bathroom and off we went outside to the car.
One more stop before it was really time for the drive to the airport. Every trip our last stop is Downtown Disney for one last meal at Wolfgang Puck’s Express. So when we entered the parking lot we were shocked as it said both parking areas close to World of Disney were full. Well, we tried anyway and really found a space to park our car pretty close to “Once Upon A Toy”.
In no time we were on our way over to Wolfgang Puck’s. I always have pizza that last day, but Tom didn’t trust his stomach, so he decided to have some salad. He tried

IMG_0117.jpg

the Chinois Chicken Salad, a very generous helping of crispy wontons, cashews, ginger and sesame honey dressing. I went with one of my all time favourites,

IMG_0114.jpg

IMG_0115.jpg

the Four Cheese Pesto Pizza, mozzarella, fontina, parmesan and goat cheese, topped with pesto and a lot of torn basil. So good.
Tom opted out of dessert, so we only ordered one of their wonderful

Crème Brulees!
Once we had finished our meal it was really time to say goodbye to Walt Disney World and hit the road to get back to the airport.
The ride there was pretty uneventful and we soon arrived at the Dollar car return. We unloaded the car, put everything on a cart and off we went. The line at the Lufthansa counter was not too long and within 20 minutes we had made it to a check-in desk. We had done the online check in but since we didn’t have access to a printer we still needed our boarding passes. Once we held them in hand we walked around the airport, looked through some of the shops, avoided the airport Krispy Kreme seller and finally went through the security check.
Once inside we used the little Monorail to get to our departure gate, but before we actually arrived there, we stopped at one of the shops to pick up neck cushions.
We had never used any before, but since we have trouble sleeping why not try those. The seller there offered us a huge bag to put in all our other little stuff and we happily accepted and made our way over to the departure gate. We had to wait for a while and while we sat there we used our computer and went online to say goodbye to our American friends.
A half hour before departure the gate opened and we were allowed to board. Again our seat was in the last but one row as we just wanted to be in a two seat row instead of a three seat row. For quite some time the row behind us stayed empty but shortly before we left an older couple got in the seats. They were very excited about their past trip and told everyone about it. Now the man got up a lot of times before we even started to rearrange his belongings which were in the same compartment as ours.
Once we were airborne we decided not to wait for dinner, but to go to sleep right away. We kept our seats upright so the people behind us would be able to easily have their dinner and put them back once they were done. So after having taken some sleeping aid, we closed our eyes and dozed off. When I woke up most of the people were asleep and the cabin was dark. I woke up because the man behind us was checking the overhead locker again. I put my seat back, closed my eyes and went off to dreamland again.

Day 9, February 27

So sad it's over, looking forward to more

We both woke up because there was a loud noise. Something had fallen out of the locker above us.
The man who was seated behind us got down on the floor and started putting things back into the bag. I was wondering what had fallen down and asked Tom if it had been our bag, but he wasn’t sure either. We both were still very sleepy and went back to sleep. When we finally woke up we had missed breakfast on board and were close to arriving in Frankfurt.
Once we had arrived and were at the terminal, Tom got everything down and indeed the piece that had fallen out of the overhead compartment had been our bag. I know things can shift, but the way the man had moved around things I am pretty sure he had moved it around before it fell. Now there is nothing wrong with a bag falling out, it can happen, but in our bag there were two bags of Ghirardelli chocolate which we had placed in between our jackets so they would not be broken and a bag of caramel popcorn from Germany.
When we finally opened the bag in the terminal building we knew why the guy behind us had been busily hiding and looking down when we were leaving the plane. Inside the bag the caramel popcorn was sticking everywhere! To our jackets to the plastic bag and the paper bag it had been in, was missing. So I guess the popcorn had fallen out of the bag and the paper bag must have been damaged and the “nice” guy behind us had just shovelled everything back in. Thank god the weather was nice enough we didn’t really need to wear our jackets.
Once we were off the plane we had to go through passport control and then started hiking towards our departure gate. We didn’t rush too much as usually they don’t board more than 30 minutes early, but when we were walking towards the gate we could hear the announcement that passengers to Linz should go to the gate immediately!
We were already on the last bus out to the plane and once we were seated, it didn’t take long until we started rolling and finally took off. As this is a pretty short flight, it didn’t take long until they started serving snacks. We both had a cup of Coke and they handed out Toblerone, chocolate bars, so this was what we both had for breakfast!
A very short while later we touched down at our home airport and were soon heading into the arrival building. Tom picked up a luggage cart while I waited at the conveyer belt, and our luggage was arriving soon after. We loaded everything onto the cart and headed to the green exit, being sure we had not used the amount we were allowed to bring into the country tax free.
Guess what, we were called over and asked about our purchases. I guess it was mostly because we hauled a huge “tax free shopping” bag, that looked rather full. But it was only our jackets and all the loose items (and loose popcorn) that we had put in there. So after a quick look into the bag we were waved through. Now it was time to pay for parking and then we headed over to the long term parking lot.
It was cold and there was snow on the ground and we were both not very happy, as being back meant that we had to go back to work the very next day. On the way home we stopped at a gas station to pick up a few groceries, as every other shop is closed here on weekends! We made another stop at a take-away pizza place, picked up two pizzas and went home to be finally back to the real world and TinkerBell, the cat!

:sad2: Well, at least there are more trips to report and plan for. :goodvibes

And..they guy on the plane!!! :headache: Makes me think that I don't want to be putting too much up in the over head bins. I had never thought about how someone could essentially ruin some of your carry on.

The pictures from your last day are amazing. Such a beautiful day! I can't believe you can see DTD from WS!!!

More trips? ...... hm, do I recall more trips? :lmao:
I'll try my best! We all have tomorrow off, as it is Austria's national holiday, so there should be time to update those "other" trip reports! ;)

Well, that guy on the plane, .....:sad1: he was a real pain. I had to wash our jackets twice to remove all the caramel from them! :lmao:

It was a picture perfect last day and a wonderful finish to our trip, that was so full of fun surprises.
Oh, and BTW, you can also see DHS from Epcot. You can see the ToT blending in perfectly with Morocco! ;)

Well, I guess that means I've actually finished reading another of your TRs! :rotfl2: What a fabulous trip. I am looking forward to enjoying your other reports!:cool1:

Thanks for reading, Tammie!

It was a fun trip and as much fun reliving it here by writing this trip report!

As you know, I still have two trip reports and a dining review to finish before we head of to Disney in 115 days again! Only 11 more days until I can make do online check in and start booking on line fun on the DREAM! :thumbsup2

Gorgeous topiaries, I know I keep saying it but I must try and find a way to visit during F&G, Epcot looks even more beautiful in bloom :)

Thanks for sharing another wonderful trip with us Karin, so much fun reading along. Can't wait to hear about your new adventures next year :)
