Not a Disney question but I'm hoping someone kind can help me anyway!!!

We have just booked to go to Las Vegas for Christmas week! It's not Disney but it will do. . . !!

Anyway! Two questions really, we have only been to Vegas once before and that was in boiling hot June. What will the weather be like in December, still warm enough for shorts or am I going to have to get the jeans and jumpers out? Also will everyrthing (restaurants, hotel attractions etc) still be open over Christmas? I don't really want to sit in my hotel room for days!

And this is a real Dumbo question, but do they celebrate Boxing Day in America?!! :confused3

If you have been there over Christmas and can help, or have any other tips I would love to hear from you!

Thanks for your help :thumbsup2

I really can't help with the weather since I've never been there, but I know we don't celebrate Boxing Day. What is that anyway?

Its the 26th December, we get it off work. Something to do with the rich giving boxes of food to the poor I think!?!

All questions welcome here :thumbsup2

According to Wikipedia

Boxing Day is an old holiday based on the tradition of giving gifts to the less fortunate members of society.

It is usually celebrated on 26 December, the day after Christmas Day;[1][2], but its associated public holiday can move to the next weekday if 26 December is a Saturday or Sunday. The movement of Boxing Day varies between countries.

The public holiday is recognized in the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand and Australia, as well as many other members of the Commonwealth of Nations.

Origins
Boxing Day is a traditional celebration dating back to the Middle Ages, of which the primary practice is the giving of gifts to employees or to people in a lower social class. The name has numerous folk etymologies.

Christmas box
A Christmas box is, in English tradition, a clay box used in artisan shops. Apprentices, masters, visitors, customers, and others would put donations of money into the box, like a piggy bank, and then, after Christmas, the box would be shattered and all the contents shared among the workers of the shop. Thus, masters and customers could donate bonuses to the workers anonymously, and the employees could average their wages. The habit of breaking the Christmas box lent its name to Boxing Day. The term "Christmas box" now refers generally to a gift or pay bonus given to workers.

Ah I was almost right!!!!

Does anyone know about Vegas weather at Christmas?! I dunno what to pack!

From what I've heard it is really up in the air. It could be cold (50's and 60's) although that would be a great day in northern Illinois, or warm like 70's low 80's. I was in Arizona once in January and the high temps were in the low to mid 60's. All the locals were complaining about how cold it was, so I assumed that was not the norm. But being from Chicago where the weather is sub zero at that time of the year, we didn't mind at all. I think Arizona and Vegas have pretty simular weather so maybe this helps. Have a great time!!

we went to vegas dec 1-6,it was definately jeans & jumper.the nights were, considerably chilly & a light jacket, was definnately needed.when we went to the grand canyon, there was snow on the ground & it was freeeeezing!
we still enjoyed every minute & can't wait to go back,

It can be very chilly. In the past, I have taken trousers/jeans and jumpers.

Restaurants/hotels and especially casinos will be open, so you shouldn't worry about not having anything to do.
