Okay folks, after months of waiting for kinks to be worked out, it was announced today that Northwest Airlines is now an official participating airline for the Resort Airline Check-in Desk.

THIS CHANGE ONLY AFFECTS THE RESORT AIRLINE CHECK-IN DESK.

Please refer to the sticky post at the top of the thread list for complete details on Resort Airline Check-In.

Chip n' Dale. When you say only affects the resort check-in does this mean I would still need to get my luggage and haul it to the dme check-in.
Thanks Susan

Thank you for the good news. We will be flying NWA to WDW in Dec..

No, DME will pick up your luggage in MCO and deliver it to your resort when flying in on any airline. The Resort Airline Checkin is only available for "participating airlines", meaning you check your bags at your resort and don't see or touch them again until arriving at your home airport. If you are not on a "particpating airline" then you put your luggage on your DME bus with you and check them in yourself at MCO.

Thank you for the info. We have Northwest booked for October for 9 gals (2 in wheelchairs) so that will make it so much easier.

Is this effective now? So when we get ready to return next week we won't have to worry about our luggage? That is so great!!! Thanks for the news!

I wouldn't mind paying a few dollars for resort checkin if that's what it would take to get Southwest on board.

Great news for our July trip--nothing worse than schlepping bags through an airport or even to a curbside.

is this effective now? We are down at AKL next week and this would definately guarantee a little more park/pool fun before we fly home.

If this is already going, yipeeeeeeeeeee

Wonderful news! Too late for our January trip but hopefully NWA will still be in the game next January.
Not having to doodle around with our bags at the airport is probably one of the best things ever!!
Thanks for the update on this one!

What if we are on Nw and don't have seat assignments for way home yet because when booked them they were only airport ck in. Can we get the seat assignments at the resort and then get our boarding passes between 12 and 3 hours prior? I know we can't get boarding passes unless we have seat assignments.

Excellent news! All the more reason for me to get off my duff and call DVC Member Services to arrange DME on Monday!

Thanks, Tyler! You rock! :thumbsup2

I think they do issue boarding passes without seat assignments if they are overbooked. A guy standing in the boarding line in front of me last month tried to board without a seat and they made him sit back down until they boarded everyone. They ended up making an announcement on the plane looking for a volunteer, otherwise they were going to bump the guy. Someone did step up.
