Northern Sights & Mickey's MAGICal Delights - 1st Baltic cruise - June 12,2010

I hate doing this, but we canceled the Baltic cruise. I found out that I wasn't going to be able to take vacation that month. So we ended up changing to a Med cruise on August 28th. One good thing did come of it. Since the Med cruise is fewer DVC points, we are able to add a 3 night stay at the Disneyland Hotel in DLP and still have a few points left. I'm sure going to miss everyone. But I think that I am going to enjoy the warmer weather on the Med cruise.

Karen, I sure hate not seeing you and Richard next year. Maybe we will see each other at WDW some time. Keep me updated on your trips.

Eva - sorry to hear about this but luckily you are still able to do a Med cruise (plus DLP). Let me know when you come to WDW & maybe we can do a mini-meet

The comments about needing to use your key to turn on power to the room brought back a funny memory from when we took the Disney Med cruise. We arrived a day early, and when we got up to our room, we were clueless about the power. Someone kindly showed us how we needed to insert the key to turn on power.

Later in the day, DW, DD and I decide to go explore Barcelona, but DS wants to stay behind. I take out my key, and power remains on, so we assume the key is just a daily thing. A few minutes after we leave, the power goes off to the room and DS is left stuck in the dark. He didn't think to call the desk, but instead just went with it. He did tell us that the light from his Nintendo DS came in handy when he tried to find his way in the bathroom.

At least he was resourceful

Things have been a bit busy around here. My dad is in a skilled nursing unit (rehab) and trying to get him stronger. Then mom had stomach flu then I got it. Hopefully things will get back to "normal" and we can plan for this cruise!

6 to 10 inches of snow today in Central, NJ. DH is out shoveling the driveway on his BIRTHDAY. He is 64 years old today. Last year at this time we were in WDW for ESPN Weekend.

I have not been on the boards since last Friday, we had a busy weekend, then I was in training for the Census job, and was gone 8 to 10 hours a day, with 2 hours of homework when I got home. Training finished today, I was promoted to Crew Leader (from Crew Leader Assistant), which means that I get to train a team of about 12 people, and get to supervise them - what fun! I will be spending the next week cramming with books on the training and the address canvassing itself - so that I will be able to answer any questions from my crew.

Weather has been really nice here, but I have not had the chance to really enjoy it, I only got out for a bit on my lunch breaks.

Eva - sorry to hear that you had to cancel, enjoy your Med cruise.

So is anyone else having this dilemma? I want to start planning and researching but it is so far away that it seems premature. Then there is the fact that alot can change in a year and the possibility of not being able to go on the cruise at all is very real. Am I the only one? We have never had to cancel a cruise before and I don't want to start now.

I'm asking this because I discovered the website that Gydell had on the first page of this thread and it is fantastic: chock full of great information and I am ready to plan.....

I am spending NYE at Disney with the kids and a few friends, I hope. I have been dealing with a bit of depression and some days I wonder if the side effects of the medication is worth it.

My DS is not doing all that well in school. He was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in November, and is on medication and has really gotten better in my opinion. I am hoping that school will turn around. Maybe we are on the right track.

My DD is doing quite a bit better, and now has a best friend at school and is doing okay at school.

We are expecting a trial in November and I am dreading it so much. It will be so painful, that is what I dread. And the reporters and so forth. Maybe it won't be too bad.
