Northern Sights and Mickey's MAGICal Delights-1st Baltic Cruise-June 12,2010-Pt 2

[/B]I've been waitlisted since day 1 on trying to get on this cruise in a cat #3. Sent a $1600 deposit and haven't heard a thing since. Anyone have any experience with this? I'd thought I'd hear something by now. Hasn't the PAID -IN-FULL date pasted? I called Disney and they couldn't tell me anything /said waitlist is handled out of corporate. . If I'm OUT I'd like to know so I can explore other cruise companys. Any and all help would be appreciated. Would it have helped if I would have booked a Cat #4 and requested to be waitlisted for cat #3?[/B]

I am also waitlisted for a cat 3. I know that when they opened booking there were 30+ on the list already. So chances are very slim since money was due about a month ago. But there is always a chance!

Just finished my taxes .... Getting a refund!! :woohoo: This will help with the expenses!

Has anyone heard any info regarding who we will be having as entertainers on the ship....anyone special? I know we had Joey Fatone on the first Med cruise. Any word on whether or not Ducky Williams will be onboard?

After 4 hours of late night compter fun and shutdowns and shutouts, we at last got our excursions--and pretty much what we wanted. The on line stuff is the weak link in the Disney empire.

But...now a question for those in the know: we have a morning tour in Stockholm (Old Town, City Hall, Royal Palace from 8:15 to 12:30), and we want to try to get to Vasa and Skansen in the afternoon (ship departs at 4:30). From what I can gather looking at maps and decipering the routes taken for the various trips, the Magic will be ported a good distance away from town--and maybe from the harbor boats that shuttle around.

Does anyone know if there is an efficient way to get to Vasa/Skansen from close to where we'll be ported? OR...anyone out there arranging a private tour in the afternoon that is headed that way? (We are a family of 4--including DS16 and DD9). thanks!!

So sorry to butt in on your thread, I was originally booked on this cruise awhile ago, but went in 2009 through Princess instead. I still check to see how everyone is doing every once in awhile.

Seeing the Vasa and Skansen are super easy from the port because there is a water taxi/shuttle that left right near where we docked...just a short walk in fact. It made stops at the Vasa (Skansen was just down the road a bit) and went over and stopped in 2 stops at the Old town/Palace area. They even sold tickets right at the boat before you got in. There was a ticket seller right there.
The Vasa is awesome! We did not have time to go to the Skansen, because we spent so much time at the Vasa, but I wish we did. :(
We did everything in these cities (except for Russia) on our own and saved a ton and saw a ton.

So Joey was on our cruise with us, a year later we took the kids to WDW.
We were walking towards Space Mountain and this little girl goes running in front of us and just briefly I thought I recognize her. A minute later, a CM and Joey! come running right in front of us chasing the girl. It was very obvious that they were playing.
We decided that Joey was stalking us and DH and I both keep saying that Joey will be on this cruise with us too!

I'm pretty sure I saw someone post that Ducky will be on the cruise. I'd be more surprised if he wasn't.

He is a Disney illustrator....one of the few remaining artists that actually hand-draws his stuff. He does alot of the Disney lithographs that they give you when you do a special cruise. I'm hoping he will be onboard because if so, they will have an autograph session whereby he will personally sign your lithograph. If I know he's going to be onboard, I will bring my lithograph from the Med cruise. I can't remember if he was on that cruise, but they didn't give us the print until the very last night (after most people had packed!) so nobody could get it signed anyway.
If he is on the ship, he will do a lecture series, which I highly recommend. It usually includes raffling off some of his instant art.

I noticed a few are planning to go to the ice bar in Stockholm. We are thinking of doing this, sounds really fun, but I'm wondering if DS18 will enjoy it...still not old enough to drink, but thinks he's 35 lol. :cool2:

Does anyone have any experience or thoughts about this? It looks unique & interesting to me, but maybe that's because I will be tasting something besides soda!! :upsidedow

Actually your 18 year old is of age to have a drink in Europe, I think. We plan to go to the ice bar, but we are WAAAAY over 18!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I'm pretty sure that this is not universally true. I think the drinking age in Sweden is 20.

We're signed up for the ice bar, but in Copenhagen. Sounds like quite an experience!

WeLoveABD,

I think the Magic is docking at Frihamnen in Stockholm. You would need to take bus #76 to get to the Vasa Museum. The stop is Djurgardsbron and then you walk over the bridge to the museum. Lucky you got the morning excursions - they weren't available when I booked! So we are going to buy the Stockholm Card and do many of your things on our own!

gydell,
Sorry I forgot to answer earlier - we are from Alpharetta. What about you?

We lived in Alpharetta for 20 years and then moved to Canton a few years ago. We need to get together!

We are also thinking of doing Stockholm on our own. My DH isn't sure he wants to do that; he's worried about the language barrier, converting money, transportation, etc. I am trying to convince him that it will be like the Amazing Race for a day.
